Love the gym. Some of the employees have an attitude. Had an old account that was supposed to be on hold because of knee surgery and never went back to gym. My wife made a new membership one day to surprise me under her name as primary, long story short... some "manager" grabbed us aside and said she wasn't allowed in, nor our kid or myself till we paid the balance. After all the fees it was almost $600. Simply because I enjoy the gym, paid it and went about my workout. Posting review on google. Simply for the attitude of the employee. The club activated my membership after a few months so I thought I would give it a try. Like some of the members already mentioned, nothing has improved. Most areas have very limited access which is understandable but the price hike doesn't justify it. They take your body temperature at the entrance but after that, no COVIT guidelines are enforced by the staff. You can see people walking around without mask, Working out without masks and basically creating a very dangerous environment for every one. They are taking advantage of some other large Gyms going out of business in the area and do as they please but things will change. read more

They have a humongous tennis building across the street and they decided to replace 1 of the 2 basketball courts for PICKLE-BALL. Let alone they have a summer camp (3-4 days a week) that takes up half of the court for a majority of the day. What does that leave us hoppers with? 1 hoop, that's it. This place has gone downhill in a major way over the past 5-6 years, both with the people that frequent the place and the upkeep of all areas. A great deal of people with hygiene issues due to culture I guess have really added an eu de stinch and there are quite a few rude adolescents with poor social skills and manners that now frequent this gym. I am current at the Rocklin, CA location which is night and day nicer than the Plano location. Even the trinity mills location is nicer than the Plano gym. A week or two ago one of the trainers (tall guy with a half beard and tats) was blaring some really obnoxious rap music through a speaker used for group classes - he was the only one listening to the music. Arrogant beyond belief to think he can do something like that and it was not appropriate for children for sure. Half the staff at the front counter do not make eye contact when you walk up to have your card scanned as they are too busy gossiping/bs'ing. Looking forward to joining Equinox in Plano once it opens. 10/10/2018 - called customer service number twice - absolutely nothing has improved at this gym. Bathrooms are filthy and smell of body odor and lord knows what else, several machines have maintenance issues, trainers playing ridiculous rap music in open areas (which I doubt the group being trained even likes), etc etc. Now working out at the Allen location (which is 10 miles further from my house) which is night and day nicer and not near as crowded. Horrible customer service , you get stalked when they want you to join ,extremely unprofessional . I moved to a different state and wanted to cancel my membership , I did everything required to cancel my membership and I'm still waiting to find out if I'm officially cancelled or not . I never had a gym also where no matter what time of the day you call during business hours you always get the voice mail . I tried on February 2 for example ,a weekday during business hours and never got a live person . We walked in and Luis (Thompson) agreed to help us out. He was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable. My husband and I did a tour of here recently when looking to switch our gym membership from a smaller gym. We needed a place with daycare. They do have a daycare option, however I was not comfortable bringing my child here. The ratio of workers to kids is 1:8 (or so they say). What we saw was 2 workers in the back watching kids play in the jungle gym area while the woman working the counter (I'm guessing) was watching the little ones. At the time we visited my son was just 11 months old. They said he would be placed with the kids from 1-3 years old. He wasn't walking at the time and these kids were running and throwing things. He would have gotten clobbered trying to crawl around. I wasn't comfortable with that. Also, they don't change diapers. If your child needs a diaper change they walk around the gym with a big sign that has your name on it telling you to come to the kids area. Awkward. The ratio of workers to kids should go by age group. More workers for the younger children and less for the older. 1:8 works for older kids but not 1-3 year olds! As for the gym equipment, they had a great selection. However, it was all very dirty. Sweat stains were all over the cardio equipment and people left their trash in random places. I asked how often things were cleaned and they said the top of the machine where the controls are is supposed to be wiped down daily. Each trainer is assigned a row. However he said sometimes they can't get to them, so I guess that means so days they go uncleaned. He also told us the rest of the machine is typically not cleaned since no one touches that. It still looks gross so someone should really clean everything. Overall I wasn't very impressed. I would expect a little more cleanliness and a better ratio of workers to kids in the daycare area if I'm paying over $200/mo. read more

I joined this gym coming from Wichita, Kansas. Greg was my membership consultant, and he did a wonderful job giving me a tour of the facility! I was so impressed that I said any friend I'd made down here was going to have to try it out with me!! He even went above and beyond and offered me multiple services for joining, and offered my friends free passes to try out the gym if I'd shoot him their email address! He made the transition to a new gym super easy. The physical trainers are all super friendly and willing to show you anything from new workouts, to equipment you don't know how to use properly. I even got offered a free session! Privileged reviews to say the least, some of these people's complaints are over the tiniest things. Try a gym in Kansas and you'll come back crying for your membership here super clean, multiple amenities, and the yoga studio is AMAZING!!! I'm a practicing yogi and have never been so amazed by a yoga studio inside of a gym. To believe the negative reviews and not give this gym a try is wrong. I'm glad I succumbed the hesitancy to try this place out, I've never wanted to go to a gym more in my life!! read more

I'm a true believer in paying for quality, but this is kind of ridiculous. What they should really do is divide the monthly fees based on pool, yoga, and gym usage. Because let's be honest, I'm paying for pool & yoga privileges too, and uh, I never use either. The gym itself is clean. Locker rooms are pristine and I love the towel service. There are plenty of squat racks and various equipment for everyone. The number of gym douchebags are actually tolerable! (This includes the idiots that try to talk to you with headphones in, if you want a completely fair review from a female perspective). My favorite part of this gym is, of course, the cafe. Unggh. Food. The reason why we workout, amiright? I always hit up the protein smoothie specials they have for $4. (yeah, $4.) Pineapple spinach, coconut, strawberry banana, it's all pretty good and comes with two scoops of protein. If you can't decide what to eat, the pesto egg breakfast sandwich is the bomb.com. (I'm addicted to basil pesto, so there's a little bit of bias sprinkled in here.) You get a punch card so that you spend more money, then get a little freebie at the end of several purchases. Gains. Anyway, Rich White People of West Plano, continue to enjoy the "perks" of Lifetime, but I'm not sure I'd be here much longer if even only for the cafe. read more

I usually go to the Lifetime Fitness in Allen, but sometimes if I'm doing something in Plano I end up at this Lifetime. When I compare them, the Allen location is far superior, with a bigger and cleaner facility. However, the Plano location is still a great facility. This Lifetime has everything you need in a fitness center, including a gym, pool, and basketball court. If you're willing to pay the price (which is higher than other gyms, for good reason), then this is a great place. I do have to say that in the locker rooms, there are used towels all over the floor which is pretty annoying and gross, but that's my biggest concern. read more

This is of the spa at Lifetime Plano. They've recently changed management and the manager, Vina, is AWESOME. I went in to do the new "oil slick" trend which is just starting to pick up and WOW. Jena did an amazing job. Working with hair as dark and as thick as mine is no easy feat and yet, it came out perfectly! Anush is also an excellent stylist and was great with my cut. Be sure to ask for Jena for your color!! She takes pride in her work. Excellence is obviously a top priority here along with skill, service, and quality. You definitely don't want to miss out by skipping here. They go above and beyond to make sure you walk out happy. I can't wait to go back! Worth every penny. read more

Gym is great. Love the equipment not as new of stuff from other lifetimes but it is still great. I like all the classes I have been to and the place is always clean or being cleaned. I only have issues with the kids club. A few times I have had issues with my kids reporting being hit, playing in the bathroom, even times where my kids were doing the wrong thing and needed to be put in there place but were not. The people running the place seem to be understaffed. I once went to complain that the gal working the check in spot was playing on her phone and ignoring what was going on all around her and when I went to the office where the kids club manager was I found her watching a video on her phone. She didn't even see me in the door so I just left. I like the gym but always a little worried about the kid situation. read more

Never again. There is a rule now, that you have to walk barefoot, catching fungi all over your feet, in order to use the dry sauna. Who made this rule? Corona virus days. Why? The wood floor is infested with disease. They ban flip flops in there. You cannot use it unless you remove all footwear. I don't want athletes foot or the corona virus. There are many that still use their shoes too in this sauna. So, if you adhere to this insane rule, your feet are walking all over the surfaces their shoes did. Stay away from this location. I am a new Lifetime Plano member, about 2-3 weeks, going twice a day. Every staff member I engaged (which are several) is very friendly and helpful. The facility is a bit older but they maintain it very well and are constantly cleaning. The GTX program is excellent and well designed. It is group fitness in which people of different levels of fitness are engaged in the same activities at the same time. However at their own personal level of challenge. I tried a variety of other studio fitness classes. All were excellent in design, fitness leader skills, and friendliness. The depth of the studio fitness schedule is truly impressive. It appears LT is trying to renovate when and where they can, without causing too much disruption. I did not try the Alpha program, as I am not interested in Olympic-style lifting. The yoga program is extensive, and the environment is elegant. Most of the yoga is hot. I do not like hot yoga but I guess that is what people want or LT would not have that focus. There are low, mid, and high-priced clubs. This is the high price range but has just about everything one might imagine. As in any large business, a bad experience is possible. It seems to me that LT-Plano does everything they can to deliver a high-end experience. read more

Lifetime Plano is a modern day country club at a much more reasonable cost. I frequent the Plano location for the Tennis (both indoor and outdoors), Pilates, Yoga, Swimming (both indoor and outdoor), dry sauna, and eucalyptus steam room. However, they offer much more! The Yoga classes are fabulous offering various types of yoga. My go-to happens to be Sarn's Yin Surrender class. This is a relaxing class and Sarn amazingly curates each of her classes with so much thought, bringing eastern philosophy perspective... your body will feel completely at peace after an hour of relaxing stretch positions, and your mind will feel cultured! I have been fortunate to be able to attend yoga classes and studios all over the world and I must say she is truly a gem! read more

The sauna is consistently broken. For $100 a month in monthly membership fees, you would think they would ensure the only dry sauna in the entire facility functions properly. The ideal sauna temperature is 160-180 and this sauna is at that temperature. If a sauna is important to you, find another gym. read more

I am a new member and I am glad that I did not read the reviews before joining. So far my personal experience here has been nothing but positive. From my initial tour to my yoga classes. As well as the spa and salon I have absolutely no complaints. The two main reasons I joined was the proximity to my house as well as the yoga classes offered all throughout the day and at accessible times for me after working hours. Unlike other gyms I've attended I look forward to coming in here to wind down or get refreshed at the end of the day. And there's the bonus of having a salon right there in the facility. Very good gym overall, but I especially like personal trainers here. Very caring, friendly, knowledgeable, and fun to train with. They answer questions patiently and help you even when you're not on a Personal Trainer program. The facilities are great. The customer service, accountability and level of integrity? Awful. I signed up in September upon moving to the area to launch a new division of a large tech company. The sales rep asked me if I planned on being here for a year, and I told him I did. He told me that the only way the let people out of the "loyalty agreement" was relocation. As I knew that the only way I would be leaving Plano would be due to relocation, I signed a year agreement. Fast forward to my company needing to relocate me to an area without a Life Time location, and the staff have a) Done their best to ignore me and pass the buck for a month, b) Tell me that they actually meant "international relocation" and c) Ensure that I make sure no one in my company or social circle does business with this organization unless they show that they have the capacity to honor their word and do the right thing. read more

We have been trying for over a year to have the Plano lifetime fitness center to stop billing our bank account. We have called, emailed, left multiple messages to stop them from billing our bank account $10.83 every month. We placed a stop payment, had our bank issue new cards twice, and do not know what else we can do to stop this besides closing our bank account. That is a major inconvenience for us.
