When I moved I was looking for a new gym since my old gym was too far from my new place. I have to live within a mile or two from my gym or I will not go. Don't judge me because I know everyone is not as disciplined as dedicated gym heads. There are three gyms in the area and I figured I would settle with the cheapest one. A couple of my friends had a Life Time membership and they all said the same thing "It's not just a gym it is an experience". Of course I rolled my eyes because a gym is really just a gym. I didn't understand why they paid so much when you can get a gym membership now for about $10 bucks a month. One day I went on Lifetime's website and filled out an inquiry form with the intentions of not getting a membership. Once I filled out the inquiry online I received a call from Ryan a couple of days later. He convinces me to come and he told me they were running some good specials. I went in the gym that day and was so impressed that I got a membership. The first day I worked out it was just another day at the gym. The more I went to the gym the more I understood what my friends meant that Life Time is not just a gym. I'm not a big fitness class person but I was convinced to go and although I almost died from my workout I went back for more. When I go to the free weights area I can always find friendly members that are willing to help you with a set or show you something different to make legs look better. This is the "Bronze" level of the Life Time memberships but it more than what I expected. No reason to compare this gym to the other Life Time levels because every gym is different. This location has an indoor pool, a café, weight machines, cardio machines, saunas, yoga studio, spa, indoor cycle studio, basketball court, steam rooms, kid's center, infant room and training areas. If you like classes they have plenty of options from strength classes to dance classes. Whatever fits your needs and schedule they have it. The machines are new and THEY ALL WORK!! Anyone that is a devoted gym goer knows exactly what I am talking about. It never fails at other gyms the machine you want to use is always broken. The gym doesn't just have ellipticals and treadmills, there are a variety machines to work different muscle groups. The lockers rooms are clean, with courtesy lockers and private rooms to change. There are complimentary towels all over the gym and sanitary whips to whip down machines. The staff is friendly and if you have a question they will help you. The only issue I had was when I went to my complimentary workout with a trainer I thought he was too concerned about every other member that came in instead of me. Although it rubbed me the wrong way my overall experience has been great with Life Time since I've had my membership. This gym does not have a water slide and all the other great things that are at other Life Time gyms but it does the job. I always have a great workout, I don't have to wait for machines, and the other members are not on their phones holding up the weights. read more

I must first say I enjoy the easy access to the facility being close to work. The staff has always been profession. The club is very clean and the days I go there is never. Wait for equipment. I would strongly recommending club. Today I had a troubling experience. Following my workout I always order a Vegan PB&B. Today I followed same routine ..completed workout..ordered drink.. went to change and then return to get drink which is always waiting for me. Today I returned and my drink was not ready but that was not the challenge. The person working was busy making food while 3 other staff members chatted and did ask if I had placed my order. I shared my situation. Another staff person Michael game from the lobby area and went behind the counter to help. He began to make my shake. I watched as with another staff member as he followed directions on how to make it. I noted he "DID NOT WASH HIS HANDS" and shared with the staff member beside me. I asked her " do you think he is going to wash his hands (don't know her name)? She replied " Hmm I should tell him ". We decided to watch and see if at any point he would but he did not. He completed my shake and began working on another shake for someone else. I am healthcare provider as well as a member of Association for Professionals in Infection Control and was surprised by this behavior. I know this is not the norm for the club and hope it gets resolved. On top of the whole thing my shake was made incorrectly. read more

I went to this place for three years. Best facility in the neighborhood. The other gyms really suck. Pros (in my opinion): 4 squat racks with deadlift platforms Never too busy Excellent variety of cardio equipment Good amount of random machines Not too many creepy people Cafe isn't too overpriced or horrible. They have towels to use Dollar Store next door sells cheap headphones When we discontinued our membership, they weren't too annoying. Cons (in my opinion): No individual TVs on cardio machines Mounted, ancient TVs mostly show the news (CNN, FOX, etc.) What better to relax that to learn about all the world's tragedies? Music is horrible; tons of Lifetime commercials...and country music slow jams? I was told by an employee that the TVs and air conditioning are controlled by the home office in...Minnesota? WTF? The air conditioning is dispersed by giant green tubes attached to the ceiling. If your machine is in its path, it can be horrible. A trainer tried twice to involve me in some kind of pyramid scheme in the locker room. Advertisements everywhere. Seriously. Everywhere Creepy sales associates in bad suits (used car dealer types). Sanitary wipes are a joke. Employees don't last very long Looks like they shoved a bunch of gym equipment into an abandoned Mervyn's Department Store. read more

Generally speaking, is a nasty place, in the night is ghetto since everyone get in for free and there is no control at the front desk. The "swimming" pool with people in clothes, even shoes, just playing, people starring in the bathroom with cell phones ... the manager knows all this happening and just says "sorry" neglecting do her job saying that she don't baby sit anyone and in the mean while is chatting and dressing like a trashie cocky woman and avoiding do anything! Although this is the shittiest of all the LT clubs in the area in terms of amenities, it's not that bad of a club. It's a bronze level - Liftime club rankings go bronze, gold, platinum, onyx (bottom to top). Location is kinda funky (located in a shopping center in North Dallas). It's small but clean & comfortable. This review is primarily for their yoga department: I recommend taking Marianne's yoga classes. She is one of the best & most helpful yoga teachers I have ever encountered. She helps me grow my practice each and every class. They offer a good amount of classes with a wide range of levels. Price isn't too bad if you factor in the cost of a gym + yoga studio. PS: This club has an onsite cafe, kids center, massage spa & pool (indoor only). The only Lifetime without an outdoor pool in DFW. The spa only provides massage services unlike the other LT spas that provide hair & nails as well. If you're interested in getting a membership - go see Gino. He's helpful, but not overly pushy/salesy like some of the others i've encountered at this club. read more

I have been a member at this Lifetime gym for nearly 2 years. This is absolutely the best gym we have ever been a member at. They have all the equipment I need and I have never had issues waiting for machines or weights. The other members of this club are all nice and respectful. The staff does a great job keeping everything working the way it should. I have never had any issues with machines being down, and the sauna and locker room are always clean. I feel like the people running the gym actually care about the members and having a great gym to come to. Stacy and Cornelius have each been especially friendly to us here. My Lifetime gym membership started a few years ago. The North Dallas location is convenient to where I live. Also important to note, I joined after testing out a few of the other gyms in the area: 24-hour fitness and LA fitness. I would have to say Lifetime stood head and shoulders above the rest. From the clean and spacious locker rooms, the on-site spa and salon (which offers fantastic massages by Sharon), to the cafe that serves up surprisingly tasty food and offers a wide variety of protein snacks and shacks. The club itself has a lot of amenities and equipment. Since I do a lot of triathlon training, the 25 meter pool and hot tub are very accommodating, as are the decent supply of treadmills and stationary bikes. There are also lots of weight machines for strength training. This gym also supplies small and large towels. I particularly enjoy the many classes offered there: vinyasa yoga, total conditioning class (which is a VERY intense full-body 'get-your-ace-handed-to-you' strength training class), spinning classes, zumba, running club and boot camp. There's even on-site daycare. Also, classes taught by Devin, Mark, Ginger, or yoga with Jennifer are guaranteed that you will get your ace handed to you! Even after a few year of being a member, I'm not bored of going here and that's due to the endless supply of activities, classes, and equipment along with the many perks of a salon and cafe. read more

Is this a lifetime fitness? I walked in today and was fairly ignored by the front desk staff. My toddler and I went to the life cafe and weren't even acknowledged. After five minutes of waiting the guy finally stopped doing something and took notice. He didn't smile or seem welcoming. I'm normally a chipper person and make friends everywhere I go. When I smile, I like to see smiles back. That's how smiles work! I don't want to see an indifferent face. I went in to take a class and when I arrived the music was loud and people were stacking their things but the class hadn't began. I didn't feel like sticking out. Have I mentioned the smell? It has the odor of days old vomit. If bad decisions and unfulfilled dreams had a scent, that's what it would smell like. After about 20 minutes, I had enough. No more smell, it was making me sick. I grabbed my daughter from the kiddie play area (the worker was the ONLY kind person there) and left. Will I ever go again? Maybe. When I see myself willfully walking down the path of bad choices, I will be there. Otherwise, I'll stick to other Lifetimes. I work out uptown and LOVED the one in Mansfield. I will try Plano tomorrow for the pool. I used to work out at a 24 hour fitness that was a million times better than this dump. They get a star because the kiddie play area instructor was nice. read more

First time I'm reviewing Lifetime, but I have been a member for 6 months now. Switched from 24 hour (these are the two options in my 'hood.) Getting used to a new gym is a weird thing, you swear your old gym was better for this or that reason. Having said that, my old gym didn't have a pool and didn't give you towels, that alone is worth the extra $8/month that I pay here. Being a creature of habit, I have not yet fallen in love with the way the free weights are arranged here (that will probably never happen) and the fact that they just don't have as many stations or dumbbells as 24 Hour. In spite of that, 4 squat racks (2 are decline) definitely a good thing. I don't use machines that much, but Lifetime does have every machine under the sun. That said, they have 4 adjustable cable cross machines, which is 3 more than 24 hour had (I like this machine and it is quite popular). Things I don't like: 1. People here are definitely more "casual" gym-goers and they have very sloppy habits (weights strewn about all over the place, slamming weights on the floor or on the stack, use the benches for the ridiculous body weight exercises) 2. A circuit training program guided by a trainer can literally pop up at any moment and take over whatever area you "were" using (they will tell you that you have to find somewhere else to workout). 3. Only one tricep pull down rope in the whole place, but there are like 5 machines you can use it at. Good luck finding it, someone is always using it. 4. Did I mention that people leave stuff all over the place at this gym? Seriously. 5. Due to the aforementioned shoddy arrangement of equipment, the gym can feel crowded with an average size crowd. So, I am giving it 3 stars. It is a very nice facility, but it is guilty by association with it's clientele. Of course, I am still a member so there's that. read more

This is a very underrated Life Time Fitness location. For 1/2 the price of the Plano location you will get all the necessary amenities in order to work out. You may not get an outdoor pool but the pools here are heated - my only gripe is that this place is sometimes too packed and some of the new weight machines are just too obscure (the calves one and the leaning-back back one, for example). Very cleanly location, the staff are always working hard and cleaning, powerwashing, etc. Again, underrated location, beats any other gym for the price. Now, if they raise the monthly fee again without any reasonable reciprocation I will be thinking otherwise. I have been coming for around 4 years and have had my gripes but I find that a lot of the negative reviews are unreasonable, it's not that complicated. read more

Pretty impressive. For 49.00 a month, I can use a nicely heated pool and sit in soft, comfy chairs. :) I can't complain. I just wanted a nice, warm pool I can exercise in. Rob was very kind and answered all my questions. He didn't try to push any extras or anything like that....it sealed the deal. The locker rooms are clean and FREE TOWELS! *Gasp* Best locker rooms ever...tied with Spa Castle for first place. The staff is young and immature...eh. Felt like a break room at work, except all over. Otherwise a nice location...I didn't see any exercise equipment thrown around or anything other folks were complaining about. I've been a member here since 2010 and I'm really pleased overall with the experience I've had here. I had previously been a member of Lifetime for 3 years in Houston at a Silver location and know differences between the two club types. This Bronze location is perfectly adequate for most people's needs and far better than what most people would expect from a "bottom" tier gym franchise. Featuring an indoor pool, dry and steam saunas and a whirlpool, the facilities are not lacking. Silver locations offer options such as an outdoor pool with water slide, racquetball court access and rock climbing walls, but such locations are further away and costlier for these extras. As for the meat of the gym, the crowds here are tenable. There's a definite swell of new members in January that peters off by early March. Ample cardio machines (new treadmills and ellipticals were installed in March 2013) options. New treadmills even have iPod/iPhone 30 pin chargers built in. Lots of free weight equipment in the back, classroom exercises going on regularly, what's not to like? As for the training staff, it's run by a gentleman named Alex. I've done some personal training with him and he's a very nice, motivational, and upbeat person who doesn't press for upselling services you don't need. He genuinely seems concerned about your overall health and it shows with the demeanor of the other training staff he supervises. They also offer a running class. Instructor in this class is very nice and motivational and if you're fit for running, you'll find a very enthusiastic crowd to run with. If I had one complaint, it is that some of the weight machines need service/parts restoration. Some of the weight retention pins and grips have been removed from their original machines by other gym patrons or are bent where they fit poorly in the machine. They could use a bit of polish, but are usable. It's just very annoying to have to find out where they wandered off to whenever they're not there on the machine. read more

I agree a bit with John M. I was a member of Lifetime when I lived in Austin and restarted my membership here at this location. The Austin locations were very nice, not in a strip mall...very unlike this location. BUT it is still very clean. I like that if I want, I can take a nice shower here. I would, but I live so close. I love the pool and it's never busy. I wish they had the wet and dry saunas in the locker rooms. I'm sure they have this at other locations. I also like that you can go to the salon and have a bite to eat if you so choose. The Life Cafe has great fresh food...and healthy. I haven't tried the spa at this location, so once I do...I'll update. BUT I've never had a problem getting on a machine, I've never seen this place crowded and the staff has always been very friendly. So, I continue to give them my money every month! read more

I've had a membership for a few years and Iike Lifetime very much. This location is not as posh as their other clubs but its always clean, there is NEVER a wait for equipment and the group classes are energizing and fun. I love that they supply towels for personal use {locker room & at the machines) and wet wipes to wipe down the machines. Who wants to get on a wet/smelly machine? I chose Lifetime because they have childcare on site. You get 2 hrs of childcare, enought time to workout, shower and/or grab a bite to eat in the cafe before you have to pick up your child. The family locker room is nice as is the ladies' room. They DO have a wet sauna in the Ladies' locker room, I like that they usually add eucalyptus oil so it feels like a full body facial. The dry sauna is in the pool area next to the huge hot tub. Its never crowded in either saunas. As of late Oct 2010 they have renovated all their locker rooms! read more

Basically; top of the line all around, the equipment was the best you can get. Everything was clean and the staff went above and beyond (also everyone seemed pretty happy to be working, which is always a plus). I was hesitant to join based on some of the poor reviews. I'm glad I didn't read into them all that much. I just switched from LA fitness where I was paying 30/month, now 60/month at Lifetime. Well worth it. I've been to several LA Fitness in the area and I think most people would agree equipment is dirty, run down, and bathrooms/locker rooms are disgusting. I am most impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. I even saw the general manager on his hands and knees dusting UNDERNEATH a treadmill! You won't see this type of dedication at most clubs. If you can afford it and use the gym regularly I don't think you will have any regrets joining. Been a member for 6 months now. Worth more than the 3 star average people are giving it. Clean, well maintained, and not too crowded even at peak hours. Is it the platinum level, no. So why rate a bronze club in comparison to the higher tiers??? I will say that I did visit a lifetime platinum club on my last visit to Chicago (they let me in free btw). That gym was filthy and full of funky smells. Made me appreciate my "bronze" level gym here in Texas even more. read more

I just cancelled my membership at this gym because I'm moving and there isn't a convenient location near my new place, so I thought I'd leave a review. First why I liked and chose this gym for a membership: It's neat and clean and the equipment is in good condition. They've done upgrades to the sauna and added olympic lifting platforms since I joined. There is always equipment available. There is free towel service. They have a full court basketball gym, several fitness studios including a cycling room, tons of free weights and machines, a stretching/open workout area, a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, cafe, kids center. So there's not much you can be looking for and not find. Now for the negatives...everyone and everything is about commission. I get that it's a business, but it's alreasy significantly more expensive than all the gyms in the area, and they try to up-sell you on EVERYTHING!!!! They have a functional fitness program called Alpha, similar to Crossfit. It's $175 a month to attend 3 times a week, in addition to your gym membership which is $60. A TRX class that is $40 a session. Many other group programs that are all similarly priced. They try to sell you every supplement known to man, whether you truly need it or not, and they're also ridiculously priced. They had a spa when I first arrived and the hair salon service was horrible. When I was getting my hair done (which turned out horribly and the stylist comped the service so I wouldn't tell the manage), the stylist told me that she had several complaints already on her record. About a month later, the spa was closed and now only provides massages by appointment. The lockers in the women't locker room require you to insert your card and take the key attached to a pin which is annoying when you're working out. The men's locker room, you insert your card and use a code, much more convenient. Overall, it's just okay. I don't know if it's worth the higher fee because I only tried out one other gym in the area. Cancelling my membership was easy though, you give 30 days notice on a form they have and they call you the next day to confirm. Not a nightmare like I've heard from other gyms. read more

This used to be a decent place when it was new. But like other aging gyms in the area, Lifetime Fitness has gone seriously downhill. The price is still the highest in the area though. For your high fee, you get a gym that's open 24 hours (except holidays). Clean towels are provided, and so are lockers for which you won't need your own lock. Other than that, it's the same as all the rest as far as I can tell. Equipment is getting run-down, and the place is generally showing its age. When I got a coupon in the mail for the new LA Fitness at the southeast corner of Midway and W Park, I switched, and I'm glad I did. P.S. Four years later, I've since given up on LA Fitness. After being open for a few years, the equipment has run down and the management totally sucks. Apparently this is common with most (if not all) fitness places, including LA Fitness and 24Hour. Most are owned by investment corporations whose only interest is to squeeze every dime out of the places. How do I know this? I made the mistake of getting a job there as a personal trainer. I like this gym a lot. They seem to have a lot of the "little things" that you won't find at other gyms. Foam rollers, resistance bands, stretching sticks, etc. There's a lot of space and the gym is never too crowded. The free weights section has plenty of benches readily available. There are plenty of machines so you never really have to wait around on anyone. I usually work out in the evenings/late nights and I think the staff does a fantastic job. There are only two cons I have with the place. - The building is definitely old. Anytime it rains heavily, expect a leak somewhere in the gym. - There are no attachable TVs on the cardio machines. Instead they have rows of cardio equipment facing a wall with about 8 different TVs that become too hard to see with distance. In the end, I will recommend this gym to others. read more

I've been to both the Plano, Texas and Carrollton, Texas one. Plano one has by far a lot more machines and square footage. It has two full court basketball court and 4 squash court. It has couple more studios for Yoga, Pilates, and etc. Plano one definitely has much more machines and on. However, the staff is much better in Carrollton, they are much more professional and they actually care about you. Plano one is horrible from the top, the general manager and other managers take their customers(members) for granted and will not care even if you leave the club or not, as long as you pay to them they will not care. The Carrollton location maybe half the size of the Plano, but it is still big enough for me. It has a full size basketball court and enough equipment for me to exercise. I am not too picky on machines and I am not a body builder or a hard core muscle guy.. but I've never seen anyone wait for a machine or complain about it either. If you are comparing between the Plano and Carrollton location, I'd definitely chose Carrollton Life Time Fitness. read more

First time at a lifetime fitness. It was a bronze club so i wasn't able to fully experience what Lifetime is all about. The basketball courts were nice and i noticed that they have nice Wilson Evolution basketballs to check out. The machines at this gym seemed a little outdated. La fitness seems to have better machines. These were not as smooth and the range of motion seemed limited on some. One thing i liked was that there were tons of cardio machine. No one will ever have to wait to get on a treadmill or elliptical. read more

Thumbs up for the gym, cafe and spa services! Here's why: Gym: there's lots of space, you will always find a machine you want, the layout of machine vs weights makes sense and has a good flow. A variety of classes are offered to fit all schedules. My fav is DANCETON! If you try it once you'll know what I'm talking about. Cafe: good smoothies, many supplement options, there is always a table to sit at, they even have a couch to chill before/after your workout. I do wonder if they have wifi?!?! I'm sure someone at the front desk could tell you. Spa services: I've only tried the hair services. The specials are awesome. If you have lifetime bucks you can use them towards spa services which includes hair and color. They scheduled me in at night after work which is pretty late and I got a cut AND color. They were so accommodating and made me feel so comfortable, always asking me if I wanted something to eat/drink. They even offered to get me something from the cafe. I'm a fan of this gym! read more

Been coming here for almost 7 years. Basic facility with all the free weights one can manage. Plenty of cardio equipments and machines if that's your thing. What I like most are their squat racks/platforms decked with olympic barbells and bumper plates - I give those 5 stars. I can do olympic lifting without being harassed. Took off one star for the state of some of the equipments. For example, the squat platform and padding could use some repair or replacement. Seated calf raise machines needs repair badly (it's the only one). There are others but can be easily tolerated. Staff is mostly friendly and very courteous. A few remember me by first name. Some just don't give a phuck but hard to expect much given the turn over rate. Few of the personal trainers could use lessons on gym etiquette themselves. Rack the damn weight after your clients. Kids' club is handy and the staff is pretty good. This is great for working moms and dads who don't want to give up their healthy lifestyle. Overall this is a good gym that satisfies a range of gym goers. read more

In comparison to my Gold Lifetime back home in GA, this place is doo doo brown, not bronze. Free weight area is almost laughable it's so unorganized. Weights strewn everywhere. It takes forever just to find a matching set of plates and then good luck getting them on the rusty barbells; that alone was a workout, both physically and mentally (it was difficult to keep from yelling in frustration). Reminded me of an inner city high school weight room. The squat rack was broken, the equipment looked like it had fryer grease dumped on them and the tricep rope looked more worn out than the women hanging around the bar next door. Seriously, the area was a little sketchy on a Saturday night. If you have never been to a gold or platinum LT before, you might think this is a "nice" gym. I have been a member of LifeTime fitness for many years. The Carrollton facility used to have the best sauna in the metroplex. The sauna is terrible now. Because of the size of the room, two heater units are necessary. For weeks and weeks now, only one heater has been in service, which makes using the sauna completely pointless and this is the only reason I have a membership for that particular location. The General Manager has changed a number of times. The current GM is never available. Very frustrating. Would not recommend this club to anyone right now. J. East read more

Pros: Towel service. Steam room, but it can be dirty and smelly sometimes. Decently clean showers (Hard to believe patrons think it is acceptable to leave their razors, band-aids, towels, etc in the shower). The place is loud with music from 3 sources. The overhead PA system blasts constantly. Same thing repeats every couple hours, day after day. I think the volume got turned up recently. Some nights a trainer has a class on the workout floor and takes her own PA system around the gym floor, with the volume turned up louder than the overhead PA for the class. Weeknights a dance class turns up it's music volume in room so much the thumping bass reverberates throughout the gym. read more
