This is a 5-star gym. The excellence starts before you join the gym. I joined the gym even before it opened last May. I have been procrastinating in posting this review. There are more members now than last year due to many folks' new year resolution I guess but I always visit during shoulder hours so not a big deal to me. This place is very busy from 5pm to 730pm on weekdays. I would suggest you spend the 1st visit during the peak hours to see if you are OK with it. The kids' pool seems to be busy all the time so you probably want to check that too. Freeze/Resume membership according to contract terms is a breeze compare to BSC. A friend of mine cancelled the membership due to long commute, but he didn't complain anything about the process. One of the managers, Jess, went above and beyond to help me. She provided necessary documents for me to work with BCBS for my fitness reimbursement. Eventually BCBS agreed my request mostly because the document provided by Jess. I very much appreciate her help! Over the past 10 months I have lost 9% body fat from 21% as a gym newbee (sometimes just can't resist ice cream...), and put on 10+ pounds of muscle under Connor's instruction. He always carefully watches all the movements I make during the sessions, and explain the theories so you know what you are doing. I highly recommend his personal training sessions. It seems they changed Jr. Watkins amenities a few months ago..I miss its scent. New members from this 2019 summer would require a pool pass to access the wonderful outdoor pool. I believe this is one necessary step the management takes to alleviate the overcrowding issue. It's always good to keep the quality, and make the rate as a variable (BSC took the opposite strategy years ago). Let's see how it works. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. LIFETIME ATHLETIC WARNING Last week, a simple mistake by me which I corrected minutes later has led to a very unfortunate circumstance. Last Monday, July 16, I met my friend at the club to work out - probably about 9:30 am. She did not have her kids with her, so I went to drop my kids off at their Kiddie Academy and met her out in front to go upstairs to the 3rd floor to exercise. I said I needed to use the bathroom, and she said there was a bathroom up there. We went into the bathroom. I placed my phone by the sink before using the facilities. When I came out, I washed my hands and picked up my phone. When I did, I realized I was holding two phones. I asked my friend if the other phone was there when we got there. Neither of us were sure. I wasn't sure if I had picked it up with my phone there, or if I had some how picked it up at the Kiddie Academy just a few minutes before. I didn't want to leave it in there in case it was from the Kiddie Academy. She suggested we just turn it into the Personal Trainer desk on the floor we were on. We went right over, I gave the phone to the girl behind the desk and explained I wasn't sure if I had picked up the phone in the bathroom or perhaps the Kiddie Academy. My friend and I started our workout on the cardio machines right next to that desk, then did weights, etc. on the other side of the same floor, we joked around with one of the personal trainers, when he tried to give us some advice. We spent a few minutes after in the steam room. I got my kids and we spent a little time in the pool with my kids and I took them home. Tuesday morning, I put the kids into the Kiddie Academy again, so I could do a class, then I took them home soon after. Later that day, around 5 pm, I received a call from Babs at the corporate office in Minnesota. She said she was calling about the phone I picked up in the Kiddie Academy. I explained that yes, I wasn't sure if I had found it in the bathroom or the Kiddie Academy. I explained that to the person at the desk who I handed the phone to. She said they have me on video taking the phone, it was found in the bathroom, and my membership is terminated effective immediately. I asked why it would be terminated, as I didn't steal anything and I turned it in about 5 minutes later when realized I had it with me. I asked her if she had looked at the video footage from the 3rd floor showing me turning in the phone-minutes later. She reiterated my membership is terminated. I said I often carry the phone battery pack with my phone, and it's not unusual for me to have more than just my phone in my hand. It didn't feel different to me and I didn't steal anything. She again said it was found in the bathroom... I said that's not even possible since I turned it into the desk. I again asked if she looked at the video footage from the third floor showing I turned it in about 5 minutes later. She said she understood my perspective, but they take these matters very seriously and my membership is still terminated and continued to ignore my question as to whether they looked at third floor footage. I immediately called the member services manager I spoke with the week prior, Zach. He asked why I was calling and I said because I was extremely upset and explained what happened. He proceeded to inform me that he had made the recommendation to the corporate office to terminate me on theft. I asked him if he looked at the 3rd floor video footage, and he too ignored that question. He told me there was nothing he could do, Babs is his manager's manager's manager and I needed to speak with her. I explained she wouldn't listen to me and he's the one that sent the recommendation to her. I had my friend, that was with me at the time of the incident, call him back with me and she explained everything she witnessed since she was with me from the moment I stepped out of the Kiddie Academy. He listened to her and again said that he couldn't do anything, I need to speak with Babs and disconnected from us. My friend called and left a message for Babs and she never got a return call. Multiple friends, contacted the managers, Zach and the General Manager Ben Dubin, as character references- emphasizing that I'd never steal anything and that if they'd research it, they would see I turned it in about 5 mins later. Ben ended up contacting me and saying he'd look into it further and be in touch in about a week or maybe less...I checked in 6 days later and he informed me he'd let me know by the end of the week (second week) and they will not be rushed. They had the phone in their hands when they terminated me not based on theft but the assumption that my intention was to commit theft and assumed I changed my mind because the corporate manage said it was found in the bathroom. I asked them numerous times if they looked at the video watching me turn it in.this could have been resolved last week.They're still ignoring me read more

this gym is magnificent, classes and trainers are the best in the business, Heidi and Dina are both fantastic, locker rooms are great, café is great, the whole place is perfect. Don't pat any attention to the miserable minority on yelp, this place is always the best part of my day. read more

First I wasn't sure about becoming a member due to the little expensive membership fee. However after trying it out it was worthy. Nice equipment, great swimming facility (both in and outdoor) and friendly staffs. Just need to go more frequent :) read more

The gym was great until Covid and now they want me to pay $200 to reinstate my membership. by far this is the most expensive and busiest gym you will ever encounter but the customer service is terrible! when I called back to reinstate I was promised a call back from the management of which never happened. I call back two other times only to find out they were not willing to reinstate my membership unless I've paid the $200 from when they decided to open and except customers again. I even filled out a survey saying that I was not willing to come back to the gym until Covid numbers are down! I just find it a bit unbelievable that a gym this big this expensive is deterring customers away!! After reading all the reviews I see I'm not alone beware!!! I stopped my membership because the yoga rooms for "regular" yoga classes are still hot because they schedule hot yoga classes as the class before regular temperature room classes. There is no way to cool a hot room down in an hour. Hot yoga rooms are unsafe for some of us and we cannot take classes in these conditions. Also, they move the meditation class next door to after a yoga class...so you are all relaxed and lying down and you are told to get up and move all your stuff and you and go lie down and relax in the room next door. Scheduling is shoddy. The women's bathroom has three out of 14 shower stalls with signs posted Out Of Order. They have been out of order since July and August, respectively, the most recent date being August 17. I was told by the Manager of Operations that the mens room has "20-25 shower stall" and they, too, had a few that were broken, but they just got fixed. One of the front doors has been out of order since August 14. These are safety issues as well as ease of use and it concerns me that if they can't get this stuff straight, what else is going on that is "out of order". read more

Stay away due to staff, they do not understand customer service. Specifically, the Assistant member services manager. Per the state's Safety Standards and Checklist: Fitness Centers and Health Clubs, "If customers cannot wear a face covering during strenuous fitness activities, physical distancing must be at least 14 feet." The general public is obviously still very hesitant to return to any gym. Therefor, like all gyms, this one is EMPTY. On numerous visits I have been well more than 14 feet away from anyone and a trainer goes out of their way to walk over and tell me to raise my mask off chin and cover face. The Assistant member services manager then called me 3 times in a row (no messages left), emailed me asking to speak, did not return my call, emailed me again and finally just spoke this morning to find out she has cancelled my membership. The assistant needs to educate herself on state protocol and undergo more customer service training. read more

I'm going to try to give this club the benefit of improvement. It's a brand new building and has great accommodations. The equipment is new and it's an expensive membership. The locker rooms are great but it's unclear if men can use the family locker room which seems to be in or near the women's restroom. Not clear if as a parent we can use it. We get emails frequently about issues or programs which is great to hear. Unfortunately this gym failed to communicate a new rule about kids under 2 needing some rubber portion. The rules seem to be inconsistent. One day the staff tell me that all I need is a disposable diaper and swim suit the next day that is not correct and after spending tome in-line to get a damn blue wrist band I'm told that I have to go buy one in their store. I go to the store and they don't have anymore. After 10 min of flagging someone down because they are simply to busy trying to sell the joint to others they forget the actual members who have ALREADY signed up and have our money. These other folks are still looking at their options. I finally go to the front desk in an irritated voice to get help. Finally they have to go behind the kitchen to pull these diapers out. I'm given two sizes neither of them fit. I'm forced to take the smaller one and come back later to buy another one next week which is supposed to be the right size. I go back to the pool only to wait in line again. So for a 45-50 min stay, my kid got 5 min to swim in the pool. My other issue is that the base membership is already expensive but there are fees fees fees on top of what you already pay for the luxury of getting to play on a squash court. The irritation factor continues. The icing on the cake is that when I enrolled and had my photo taken and my appointment with the trainer, none of that moved over so I ended up arriving on Saturday to meet my trainer and there is no trainer because the system failed to transfer over. Then the woman at the desk insisted that I take my photo but I politely tried to explain that I would come back for the photo because I was late for my class. She would not have it and continued to harass me. I blew her off and went to my class. So there are a lot of kinks to work out. I think this gym needs to remember the members they have and dedicate others to selling others on it. At this point with two family members in the membership I'm getting ready to throw in the towel and it's only been 2 weeks. Not a great introduction. This place is good, except for some reason they blast the music as loud as humanly possible in the weight room. I guess it's assumed that everyone wants to listen to the same crap. Additionally, I have been forced to blast my headphones and listen to music as loud as possible. It still doesn't drown out the sound of the other music. I haven't experienced this in the other diamond premier clubs I've been in, just this one. read more

This health club is awesome! They have pretty much all the facilities both an indoor and outdoor pool, and also squash courts which is one of the main reasons I joined this club.It is a little pricey, but totally worth it given the amenities and also how clean they keep it. read more

I went to the club for the fort time to check it out on a Sunday evening. I have been reading about the how nice the club is online and with a good impression I was planning on signing up. My conversation went like this. I would like to get a tour of the club, a: No, I am the only one here. Can I quickly walk through the club on my own. A; No for security reasons. Can I leave you my ID then walk around the club. No, for security reasons. I noticed on your website that you have corporate membership can I see if I qualify? A: I don't have access to that information. I am a 90% disabled veteran does that help. A: we have no military discounts, but thank you for your service. OK, Just like that, I walked out the store with my 300 per month in my pocket. I think he was trying, but the corporate policy is anti making new customers. Gym is beautiful and fairly well kept. With that being said the pool situation is a literal nightmare, waaaayyyy overcrowded and constantly closed without explanation. Additionally customer service is pretty inexcusable and as others have stated its difficult to speak with anyone about concerns. If you do reach someone they dont care what you have to say. One of the reviewers on another site said "Once they get your money, then you're a "nobody" person to them!" And its literally a perfect description of what's going on here! read more

Worst club ever! RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Once they get your money, then you're then a "nobody" person for them! Anything you need, will be a struggle to get. Don't even think about calling any department. Swimming pool never pick up the phone, never returns your voicemails and NEVER will work with you to adjust the time for a swim class to your schedule. If you can't make a class, forget about it. You won't be able to reschedule or make up a class. The kids academy and summer camp is a JOKE! They hire a bunch of kids with NO EXPERIENCE to take care of other kids. They are also rude to you and always talk to you like if they are really annoyed by whatever concerns you have. The fact that the gym is expensive, made me actually sing up thinking that I was going to get treated well but NO!!! You can actually get a better service and customer care on a $10/month gym membership as well. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT! read more

I love all the classes at LT. I love the Lifespa because they have very good massage therapists. The food at Lifecafe is also good. The locker rooms are usually kept clean but with the high traffic during the summer, I'm sure it was hard to keep up. I know they try to address member's gripes but sometimes, I do sense their annoyance. I know you can't please everybody. Sometimes, the complaints I'm hearing are so trivial. Overall, I'm still happy LT is here. I have made new friends and have enjoyed their facility so much. I can't have it any other way. Update: Lifetime has been a great place for me to de-stress. However, I do not like this boiler plate reply for my feedback. Don't need it. Wish it was more personal. read more

This place is great! The value for what you get is amazing. Spin, yoga, group fitness classes, plus access to a full basketball court (actually 2), and of course a full fitness and cardio section. It was a bit of a tough sell originally, but coming from another gym and Orangetheory (which was also pretty cool!) your dollar goes much further if you take full advantage as to what is offered. This gym is amazing! I got into the best shape of my life doing the classes - shred, kickboxing, yoga, extreme, spin, zumba, barre and more. They have a pool, spa, Jacuzzi, sauna, cafe, kids classes, outdoor pool, and more. The instructors are excellent, motivating and some of the best I have ever had. I love the variety available and this is something no other gym can compare to. I couldn't believe all the negative reviews and had to write an honest one. I joined due to Covid for the pool. Told we could cancel anytime without notice. Not the case, Got charged an extra month which was over $400 for family. Got a credit back after calling multiple times with no call back. Membership was then Frozen, $15 was supposed to waived and it wasn't. I unfroze and went a month to use it up then cancelled...of course you guessed it. It was never cancelled and now they are saying it will not be cancelled for 30 days. Customer Service is awful, place is very nice but to get a call back is an act of congress.... read more

This is your all-in-one people! There is something for everyone here. Staff is super friendly. I can spend hours a day here. Working out freestyle, chillin by the pool or jacuzzi, or taking a group fitness class. There are a number of trainers around to help too if you can't figure something out. Edwin gave me a tour of the equipment, demo'd what I didn't know how to use and made me try out a few things-like a mini training sesh! The price is super high, but you are getting what you pay for. It is unfortunate you have to pay extra for some of the classes and squash court. I don't know how people afford to have their kids go here, but its awesome they offer the option. read more

The classes are great and they have a great selection...super nice pool. The locker room is SO NICE and SO CLEAN. Steam room is so relaxing after a long workout. It never feels crowded to me. We joined the gym mostly to use the pool and take swim lessons. The review is from that point of view. One of the most disorganized aquatics department. Hard to schedule lessons, people who schedule lessons don't know how to book your lessons. Nobody answers the phone or ever gets back if you leave messages. Teachers change every week. Many left complaining about poor management and went to goldfish. Recently there have been no shows for lesson. They don't even have the courtesy to call and tell you that there will be no class. When you call and ask to speak to someone about the issue, all mangers are too busy or in a meeting. They service desk takes your name and number and doesn't get back. They also continue to bill you for lessons you stopped taking! Extremely disappointed read more

My husband and I joined this gym as founding members on Day 1 - before it was even done being built! We were so excited and wanted to love it. We tried for almost 2 years to make it work but we finally threw in the towel and quit. This place is not a gym - it's a country club for children. Kids are EVERYWHERE including in classes and the fitness floor, both of which are supposed to be reserved for people ages 11 and up. I've seen children as young as 6 years old in SPIN CLASSES and every single day there are young children running around the fitness floor playing with equipment, misusing expensive cardio machines, and interrupting my workout. Staff don't say a word or redirect the parents. We have tried bringing this to management's attention and been ignored. Not only it is disrespectful to the other members to allow this behavior, but it's unsafe! I've also stopped using the locker room entirely because there are always small children running around unattended bumping into people and the showers are absolutely disgusting - the dirtiest I have ever seen. There is always hair on the floor and the walls, towels laying around everywhere, and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash that are supposed to be in every stall are always empty. We don't even bother trying to use the pool anymore because it is always so busy and the leisure pool is far too warm to be refreshing. On top of all this the facilities are being very poorly maintained, which is a shame because it was very nice when they first opened. If you have kids and money to spare and you're looking for a family friendly environment, you will probably love this place. If you're looking to actually improve your fitness and maybe have a place to relax, this is NOT the place for you. read more

There is no doubt this is a very beautiful facility but the whole place comes off as intimidating and pretentious. When you first enter there is an overwhelming smell, it smells like those scent pods they place in a port-o-potty. The same smell fills the lockers rooms its enough to give you a headache. The outdoor pool is beautiful and they play music, theres an outdoor cafe (good smoothies, food was only ok) waterslide, comfy lounge chairs etc. The pool is insanely hot, its 93 degrees today and the water is practically as warm as the air. It's not refreshing at all, big disappointment. The indoor pool is really uncomfortable as well, the room itself feels like a sauna. The locker rooms are nice, clean, lots of amenities and its nice that they have a family locker room. Nice to have the outdoor pool in the summer but otherwise its insanely expensive for a gym, some of the classes are included in the membership and some not, $40 for a class not included in the membership is insane.....hopefully they read this reviews and take their customers comments into consideration. read more

I have to agree with many of the others The tour is quite deceptive, I asked specific questions that clearly were NOT answered honestly. Only to find out once I joined the huge amount of rules around he pool.Please know I specifically asked if my 10 year old could swim in indoor pool while I sat and watched. Answer was yes, but only to find out only during very restricted times,most of the time the answer is actually no. I must be in the pool with my very capable 10 year old swimmer. Also I specifically asked if my sitter could bring kids. The answer was yes she could absolutely be added, of course she couldn't use it without kids, makes sense. The day I wanted to send sitter, oh yes add her for 80$ a month/ but she isn't able to use facility, that is to just go watch your kids. It is over crowded as well, not enough chairs for all members. They close pool if outdoor temp drops below 70 degrees? This is New England! Summer is short and pool is heated. Membership capacity is 9000! Only a third full a few weeks ago... don't think they really care about our complaints My biggest complaint is the tours are deceptive and do not answer questions with full disclosure. The WORST customer service. Management wont answer calls or return messages. Their sales staff will sell you on all the amenities but fail to mention all the restrictions that go along with them preventing you from actually using them. Save your money and go anywhere else. I have been a member for 2 months or so. It took me a while for me to change from BSC Waltham to LifeTime. It is more expensive and I tried to convince myself I am getting additional values from this gym that would worth the money. So far, it has been very good. The place is upscale the way it is built and designed. There are lots of good things to say about this place - spacious equipment floor for weights and machine workout, locker room is beautiful and spacious, cafe is great..etc. However the one thing that stands out so far is the staff. I work out mostly in the evening or late evening hours. From Julie, Chris at the front desk, to the cleaning crew Jimmy, Will, Jonathan and Paul. The place can take a beating with all the people coming in and out, especially kids during summer time. To be a top notch upscale club, you have to have a dedicated cleaning crew to keep the beautiful changing room, showers, ..etc meticulously clean. I don't think I have been to other gyms where the showers are cleaned routinely with power washing (like at least 3 times a week). The marble/stone floor are beautiful but lots of work to keep it clean and dry with all the traffic. The gym equipment at late evening hours are always in place and maintained in a tidy fashion where weights are organized on the rack as it should be. So kudos to the crew and hope management will take cue that you have to make sure you keep and incentivize the right people for the job. I have been to other upscale gyms where they have problem keeping a constant turn out for the cleaning crew and things just go downhill really fast. I also love the music zoning. The workout floor music is awesome and very motivating for workout. Sometimes it could be a bit loud but I really like it. The locker room has a different track playing and that is very cool. Tough crowd here!! My experience with the gym & trainers (Alpha) has been amazing. Their attention to detail will truly make a difference in your workout & overall, the way you feel. The gym is immaculate as are the other facilities. The trainers really go the extra mile & are very accommodating no matter your level of fitness. So the reason I'm not giving them 5 stars. The cafe sucks! There is a bar there that we were told would serve beer & wine by the pool but they seem to have issues obtaining licensure. The smoothies are awful. My wife ordered spinach in hers (paid extra for it) then watched as the staff literally added 3 baby spinach leaves... WTF!? We ordered lunch outside the other day& waited for 1 hour while people around us got served. Speaking as a former restaurant manager, there definitely should have been some compensation involved but all we got was a "sorry" from staff. Not okay!! Once again... 5+ stars for the gym, yoga, spa, etc. 1 star for the cafe. I have high hopes though. read more
