Wanting to expand my photo skills, plus IR is totally awesome, I converted a Sony a6000 camera. Doing my research for months, Lifepixel always came up on videos, forums and seminars (Vincent Versace and Laurie Klein). Their website has plenty of information about shooting IR, from the concept, different filters, samples, post processing etc. pretty much all my questions were answered somewhere on the site. I knew I wanted mirrorless due to its advantages, I just didn't know which camera I wanted to convert. I was able to place an order and send in a camera at a later date. The process was simple, once I got my camera, I just followed the instructions on the order confirmation email. Communication was great, I got an email when they received the camera, and when it was shipped. Their turnaround time was shorter then what they mentioned on the site, so that was a plus. Once, I got the camera, I went out for a quick walk just to test it out, sure it was cloudy in April, but I love the results and experimentation aspect of it. I had my Sony a6000 converted to a full-spectrum by Life Pixel. The camera was drop-shipped from Amazon. Throughout the process I received the status update emails without a delay and felt very secure and comfortable during the process. (You can also view the status on their website/your account - order status.) The conversion was completed within the timeframe mentioned, and the package I received was very well prepared. On their website there is a clear instruction on how to drop-ship, and this was very useful during the ordering process. [If you are considering to purchase a new a6000 and converted to a full-spectrum/infrared, I would suggest to simply purchase an 'already converted' a6000 (body only) from the Life Pixel website. You can buy an a6000 with a 16-50mm kit lens from a store, but this lens is not really suited for infrared photography (hot spot issue! I found out after the conversion...), so you will end up purchasing another lens after all (so I did...)] Life Pixel is a real professional company, and I would 100% recommend to anyone who is considering a conversion! I received my infrared conversion in a used Sony mirrorless camera about a month ago. This was the "Super Color" choice, (590nm), and boy, a great pick!! One can have dreamy black and white infrared or beautiful bold colors instead as you wish! Each good image is just a surprise and many times a real treat. Life Pixel, in my experience is a class company, does splendid work, and is worth the money, if you wish the IR experience in your photos. They reliably send back your completed conversion camera in 7-10 days. They are so nice and personable on the phone. Good tutorials are on their website and a free one-on-one session within the first month with a pleasant informative accomplished IR photographer is yours for the arranging! WOW! I just sent a second camera (a Canon M3) in for a super color IR conversion by LifePixel. Since sending my first one in they has added several free features to the price of the conversion in addition to lowering the price--amazing. I received my camera back early during the time frame I paid for. Since I have been shooting IR for several years and had taken a weekend seminar on it at a noted southwestern film school, I almost skipped their free 30 min one-on-one internet session with IR photographer who is knowledgable and skilled in processing the files from various camera conversions. He convinced me to try a different way from what I had been taught and it has made a remarkable improvement in my converted pictures. This was more than worth what I paid! read more

I had my Nikon D7200 converted to super color infrared recently from Life Pixel and has taken some beautiful pictures that are otherwise not possible. The customer service has been fantastic (I was communicating with Daniel Malkin during the conversion process) and the camera arrived on time. The packaging was good. I was waiting till I used my converted camera to give any feedback. I made a trip to the Great Smoky National Park recently and took some good pictures with the converted camera. Perhaps I need to spend some time in improving my photoshop skills for processing, but otherwise no complaints from the camera as of now. I was rather hesitant at first to have my camera converted, but Daniel at LifePixel was very helpful answering questions before I placed my infrared camera conversion order. He took time over several e-mails to explain the process and make suggestions. Sent a Canon Rebel t3i in for conversion to super color IR and had a pretty quick turnaround. The site has a lot of helpful tutorials for how to take proper IR photos. IR photography has been something I've always been interested in trying out so I'm rather happy with the results and would definitely in the future do another conversion, maybe full spectrum next. I recently had Life Pixel convert my Canon 5D Mark III to infrared. I chose the Deep BW IR (830nm) filter. Their website has a ton of information available to help you decide which filter you would like for your conversion. The ordering process was seamless and they let you know when they receive the camera and they also let you know when they have sent the camera back. So far I am very pleased with the photos that I have captured with my newly converted camera. If you want to give infrared photography a try I would recommend Life Pixel. I've now had two cameras converted at LifePixel (one Canon 6D with the h-alpha conversion and my Fuji xpro-1 with a full-spectrum conversion), and both times the work done was excellent. Their turnarounds seem to be pretty fast, and the cameras come back carefully packaged. Additionally, they have a lot of great information on their website that I've found really helpful before, during, and after the conversions. It took a little longer than expected, although they done a great job on my Nikon Camera converting it to full spectrum. It is now 3 stops more sensitive and picks up all the colors for my night photography. The camera was brand new and shipped it back looking brand new without any scratches. The autofocus still works as I noticed other peoples conversions loose autofocus abilities. I took it on a trial run and all stars are still sharp and shooting at a much lower ISO levels... Life Pixel recently modified my Sony NEX 6 for IR. Their service was quick and the cost very reasonable. I have been more than happy with the conversion and it's great to find a new use for a old camera body. I was using a Minolta digital camera with filters, which was kind of limiting for me.
