Short Story: The best local roofing company you will find!…read more The morning Hurricane Idalia came through I discovered a leak in an upstairs bedroom. Immediate triage revealed a long term slow leak in my attic in which my decking was rotting and soft. Considering my house is only three years old you can imagine my displeasure. Started calling roofing companies immediately and with the rain still falling take a guess how many answered or called me back. Out of at least nine only one answered. Jennifer was one of the nicest people and actually followed through with calling me back within ten minutes to let me know Mr. Romero would be out within an hour. He showed up in 45 minutes and got right to it, sealing off the leak with an anchored GAF tarp. He even cleaned out my gutter downspouts while up there. Who does that these days? He wouldn't accept payment and said he could come out within a few days to replace the decking and shingles. I received an estimate via email within the hour and was taken back by his more than fair pricing. True to his word he was back within the week and my roof is like new again. During this process I learned Mr. Owen Romero owns the company, has a little over a dozen roofers working for him, is an honest family man and cares about his customers. The entire process was one of the most positive experiences I've ever had with a contractor. From Jennifer in the office, the communication, quality of work, price and the fact he provided pictures of everything he did spoke volumes to me. Whether you are in need of a repair, a new roof or building a house OD Roofing is the company to call. They do it all from metal, flat and traditional shingles. If you are a roofer in Eastern NC just know OD Roofing put you on notice. I hope I never need to call him again but if I do, I look forward to the services he provides. Thank you Owen, Jennifer and the OD Roofing family. You will always have a friend in me.

My roof had been replaced by my homes previous owner using the services of Murray Roofing in…read moreFebruary of 2014. In March of 2019 I noticed that an area above the garage was leaking. I called Murray and an estimator was sent out. Following his inspection the estimator explained to me that the ridge vent had been installed incorrectly and that this was the cause of the leak. At this time neither I nor the estimator knew that it was Murray Roofing who had replaced the roof in 2014. Their representative left by stating that I'd have an estimate for the repair within the week. In the meantime, I looked up the warranty information that was provided at the time I purchased my home and it turns out that Murray had installed the roof. When the $1000 estimate arrived via email the following week, I responded by asking if they could do any better considering that they had been the ones who incorrectly installed the roof in the first place. I received a reply stating they could do no better and that someone had done work on the roof since they installed it. This I knew to be false and stated that it was I who had merely applied some roof sealant on the shingles to prevent further water damage. I reminded them that their own estimator said that the install was faulty, and that I would post reviews on as many sites as I could find to bring light to this wrong. Two days later I received a call from Mike, the general manager, saying that the warranty for workmanship was only 12 months and that the fascia and soffit material being installed backwards by someone other than Murray was to blame for the problem. Now I don't know if the fascia and soffit were installed by the original builder or not but I do know that they are not the cause of the leak. I had been up on the roof both before and after this suggestion and had taken a garden hose and liberally sprayed the area in question and i did not see so much as a drip. Not to mention, the house was built in 1994, if the fascia and soffit were installed incorrectly at that time wouldn't the leak have developed prior to 2019? No one but the original builder and Murray Roofing have had their hands on the roof. Mike then went on to state that his estimator, Victor, was wrong and that the vent can be installed that way. He then reiterated that regardless of how the leak originated the 12 month labor warranty applies. So I guess my take from all of this is supposed to be that not only does the individual that they sent out to perform the estimate not know the difference between an improperly installed ridge cap and one installed to industry standards but I'm also to disregard his opinion and allow that even if they had admitted to installing the cap incorrectly, the 12 month warranty protects them from any further responsibility and I'd be on the hook for 20% of the cost of the 2014 roof replacement if I want something done about it. At the end of the day I wasn't looking for them to do the job for free. Just take into consideration that they were likely a contributing factor in the reason why the roof was leaking in the first place and provide me an estimate accordingly. This was too much to ask from Murray Roofing.

I was unable to get on the roof and do a inspection after the hurricane his due to I had a liver transplant back in the summer. By the time I did file a claim just 2 weeks ago all the good local roofing company's was booked out like 8 months. I had a few estimates from a few very new people I guess saw a opportunity to make a buck and I saw a lot of red flags and they was too high. Clearly charging way above prices. Then I found Storm Pro's. New to the area yes but I did my homework and I went with them. Elizabeth, Gabriel, Alfredo and the crew did me right! They went above and beyond. Their prices are spot on and you really really get your moneys worth. I am a self employed ceramic tile installer for over 30 years here in New Bern 10 years. I do custom work with no call backs. I know how to spot slim shady and these people are not that. I know what it takes to do the job done right, how they work as a team and their professional approach shines. They protected the windows and shrubbery from the old roof materials that were thrown down. My complaints: I was told they would charge me $75 per sheet of plywood that needed to be replaced. Interestingly, they bought 3 pieces of heavy-duty plywood (which does cost that much) and 5 pieces of lower-quality pressed board plywood (in which a substantially lower price would have been charged.) When I questioned the female employee who came after the crew left why that price for the low-grade quality plywood, her answer (and I kid you not!) was "for labor and clean up). Hmmm. Those costs were included in the estimate. Okay. The crew was ALSO SUPPOSED to go around my home with a large magnet roller to search for metal building materials (I.e., nails!) but never did that. Thankfully, I didn't have a flat tire as a result and a second contractor found several.
