Within one day of moving into the home, water began leaking into the living room, master bedroom, and master bathroom. These leaks have continued for approximately five years, from July 2021 to the present. We contacted Maven Roofing no fewer than 50 times over a three-year period beginning within weeks of the roof installation. Responses were frequently delayed by days or weeks. Maven representatives repeatedly attributed the problems to other causes (including the chimney) and performed multiple purported "fixes." We incurred thousands of dollars to have the chimney addressed as directed. Despite these efforts, water continues to enter living spaces, and significant mold has developed throughout affected areas of the home while children have been residing in the house, to include a fourth child born at the height of the mold issues. Warranty Denials and Attribution to Craftsmanship Claims submitted under our home insurance and the GAF manufacturer warranty (represented as a 20-year warranty) were denied. The denials stated that the damages were not weather-driven but resulted from poor craftsmanship / installation deficiencies / other issues. These are issues that should have been addressed by the installing contractor, Maven Roofing. Instead, Maven placed blame elsewhere while performing incomplete or ineffective repairs. Current Condition and Damages The roof is only approximately five years old yet has leaked since installation. Water continues to enter living areas, mold continues to accumulate, and other contractors have declined to perform corrective work, citing reluctance to associate their names with a Maven-installed roof of this quality. We now face estimated costs exceeding $30,000+ for mold remediation, drywall repair/replacement, and a full new roof. We have filed a formal complaint with GAF Warranty, as well as doing a Google review of our entire timeline, to which Maven has responded with continued misinformation. The owner/representatives of Maven Roofing have been unprofessional and difficult to deal with in our communications. Financial Strain The ongoing failures have imposed significant financial hardship on our family. In addition to the thousands of dollars already spent on the chimney repair and repeated temporary measures, we are now confronted with more than $25,000 in necessary costs to remediate mold, repair damaged drywall and interior finishes, and replace a roof that is only five years old and has never performed properly. We have had to replace furniture, rugs, and other items inside the home due to water damages and drywall falling from the ceiling. These unanticipated expenses have created substantial strain on our household budget and financial stability. Health Strain from Mold The persistent water intrusion has resulted in ongoing mold growth inside the home, including in living areas occupied by our family, including children. Living with active mold for years has added serious health concerns and stress regarding the air quality and safety of our home environment. Emotional Strain For five years we have lived with the constant presence of water entering our living spaces, the repeated cycle of contacting the contractor, receiving delayed or inadequate responses, and watching temporary "repairs" fail. The uncertainty of never knowing when the next leak will appear, the inability to obtain a lasting resolution, and the difficulty of dealing with the company (including unprofessional conduct by the owner) have caused prolonged emotional distress. I also paid for their best warranty called the GOLD WARRANTY, which is good for 50 years. This job was done six years ago, so the faulty installation of the drip edge should have been covered. They did not install the drip edge correctly, and they will not pay for the repairs that I had to have done, which came to $2,242.02. They nailed the drip edge into the molding and the facia, but it should have been nailed into what they call the decking or the underlayment. I watched a GAF video that showed that the nailing should have been other than what they did, but they would not pay for the repairs that I had ti have done and paid for already. I sent them several pictures of their faulty work and the repairs that are under way. They refused to give me any satisfaction. They said that they didn't do anything wrong, so I sent them a GAF video on how to install the drip edge, which showed that they installed it wrong. I spoke to GAF several times, but they assured me that it was not their fault, which I totally agree with. It was the installers - Coastal Carolina Roofing Experts. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau of North Carolina to file a complaint with them. We paid good money for their GOLD WARRANTY, but it was a waste of money, because they would not honor it, even after they told me that THE WARRANTY DID COVER "MATERIAL AND INSTALLATION." I paid $16,638 for this roofing job back in 2019. I AM TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH THIS COMPANY. I tried to call the telephone numbers at the top of our contract with them; two of them were disconnected and the other one was a car dealer in Toronto, Canada! GOOD LUCK!
