It only took a year after my husband got his procedure done to make a review About 2 years ago I stared to get concerned about my husbands health he was just 24 years old,overweight over 400 pounds and already staring to suffer of hypertension! Stellar surgeon, and unbelievably fantastic staff! I had the vertical gastrectomy (or gastric sleeve/VSG) surgery with Dr. Sedrak on 02/04/2017. I only met with Dr. Sedrak once before surgery; I found him direct and confident, and based on my research he really was the surgeon for me. My surgery was as close to "a breeze" as I could have hoped for; I recovered quickly, with minimal scarring and no significant pain. Anytime I have a question I am able to text or call Dr. Sedrak's cell phone number... HE answers ALL of my questions in a quick response (not a message service). To be able to CALL my surgeon personally and talk to him was incredible. Okay... so for the staff.... I can honestly say I owe my surgery to Greg Gutierrez. Greg works directly for Dr. Sedrak and his patients. I was referred to speak with Greg from a colleague and I had conversations regarding the process over a 10 month timespan. As soon as I became mentally prepared to say "yes" to take my life back, Greg courted me through the entire process. I, like many have battled my weight for years yo-yo ing up and down. I reached a point several years ago where I could no longer get the weight off. All of the regular "tricks" I did, did not work. When I went to see Dr Sedrak, I was at a loss. I felt that my previous surgeon wasn't taking my symptoms seriously thus resulting in continuous discomfort, pain and emotional defeat. I followed Dr Sedrak for over a year before deciding to pay him a visit. I was greeted by his wonderful staff who made every effort to make me feel welcome and comfortable. It took two sessions for Dr Sedrak to pinpoint the source of my pain and quickly sprung into action. My gallbladder was in horrible shape and I had some tunneling developing as a result from a previous gastric bypass surgery. Prior to my surgery I had only met Dr. Sedrak ONCE. I got the price and more information from Greg in the office. I want to meet and chat with Dr. Sedrak, so that I could feel him out and know who I was entrusting my life to. I must say that I was not disappointed. It was a really brief first meeting, but it was not a consultation. Prior to meeting him I had met 3 other surgeons. The first medical group I felt "MEH" about. The second doctor talked smack about the first group, so they lost my business before they had it. The third doctor, I TOTALLY loved, he was very detailed, meticulous and detailed BUT the price was just super unrealistic. When I met Dr. Sedrak, I got a really good feeling about him and I like his staff, who responsive and accessible throughout. I belong to Kaiser Permanente, I had spoken with my PCP about bariatrics and since my BMI was not at 40 and I am a pretty healthy individual they would not consider me for bariatric surgery. Well, I got the pre-op work up orders and my PCP at Kaiser was diligent in ordering all tests required. He agreed that having paid for the procedure myself was the smartest way to go. From start to completion I spent less than 3 months, and not once was I disappointed in the process. We did have a minor SNAFU due to something that had not been discussed so surgery was postponed, but only a week and I was on it and got my surgery done the week after. I was particularly impressed by the extra care and attention given especially after the SNAFU situation. The day of my procedure was nothing short of amazing. Dr. Sedrak is an amazing surgeon, I would say he is top of the line in his specialty, along with Dr. Kamel who is a truly gifted anesthesiologist. He took the time to explain the anesthesia procedure to me and it just wowed me. The RN who took care of me while in recovery was nothing short of wonderful. I must admit I was a little skeptical not of the office itself, just that I would be undergoing this procedure and did not know what to expect. But one thing is for sure, I was NOT disappointed. My recovery has been amazing and virtually pain free. If I had to do it over again I would go the exact same route, just would have done this like 10 years ago. read more
