It was such a great sale, I couldn't just go for one or two hats! And what made this experience even better is staff (I didn't catch her name) was incredibly helpful in helping me find even better bargain buys (she found some tagged at $5 - and yes, it was included in the BOGO sale. (Seriously, she was AWESOME!!!) Where else can you get two hats for $5?!) They were serious about getting rid of the stock and I was happy to help 'em do it! I left with the feeling of making out like a bandit! And of course what makes me feel even better is the idea of making a few people happy because of this score. Great run. I went in with a vague idea of wanting a fitted hat for an upcoming trip to the Sahara Desert, but what I left with was something far more thoughtful, and personal, all thanks to Alex and Darren. Both of them were professional, helpful, and incredibly patient with my indecisiveness. I explained my travel plans: Egypt, intense desert heat, long flights, dusty roads, and right away, Alex gently steered me away from my usual 59FIFTYs. He recommended I try a 39THIRTY flex fit, and the second I put one on, I knew it was exactly what I needed. Lightweight, breathable, and snug without being stiff, it felt like it is made for travel. I told them I still wanted a fitted for nights out and events, and Alex showed me a few Dodgers options with patches until I found the perfect one. While I was trying things on, my daughter, who came with me, started asking about hats of her own. Without skipping a beat, Alex went to one of their racks and came out with a pink youth Dodgers hat with a unicorn on it. Of course, she lit up instantly and hasn't taken it off since. I stopped by Lids for the first time today just to browse but Tina was so friendly and kind, I ended up picking up a hat. Everything was well organized and displayed, clean and labeled. I was surprised to discover the business was military friendly as well. I was looking for something to put a smile on my kid's face after his upcoming surgery... but honestly price on everything these days is a bit intimidating so I was just brainstorming for ideas while he was at Wonder of Dinosaurs with his friends on my own, but Lids turned out to be reasonable. I purchased a baseball cap here shortly after the mall opened back up. Had it custom embroidered and it was perfect--exactly what I had ordered...except for one thing: it was the wrong size! I figured, since the cap had already been altered, there was no way I'd get to exchange it or get a refund. I WAS WRONG. The staff let me exchange the cap for the right size (thank you!) and even embroidered the new cap for me at no additional charge. They don't carry many jerseys and apparel, but they definitely have a vast array of hats and beanies.. The staff here is very friendly, and it is very easy to find your size of hat as they have a large inventory. I like Lids stores in general, but when a special order came in, and the item was defective, it had the wrong city on the back that was initialed on the front, the employees refused to exchange it. It didn't make sense, but they told me that special orders can't be returned. Mostly because they won't be able to sell it to someone else. Well, if the city matched, I won't return it would I? I called corporate and they told me that it can be retuned as long as I had the receipt and it was unworn, not to mention it was a factory defect. When I told the store what corporate told me, they told me they were an independent store and could refuse returns. Then they told mw to calm down when i let out a huge sigh. Finally one guy said that if I really wanted to return it, just buy the same one online, then swap it out and "refuse" it from the shipper and it was ok because he "did it all the time and no one cares." After buying 15 caps this is what I get. My most current two hats came from Tilly's and the store in the Miracle Mile. Matt has no idea what he is doing. My brother went into the store to exchange a hat with receipt & tags attached for his right size and Matt said he can't exchange it. Matt also said he was a manager which I believe is not true he couldn't answer protocol questions. So just to verify that I was right, I called Cerritos Lids store (where the hat was originally purchased) they confirmed that I can do an exchange no problem with gift receipt, & tags attached at any lids location. I had bought a cap on December 6 as a Christmas present for my godson who lives in Victorville( a about 1 hour And half away). It did not fit so since we didn't want to visit because of COVID he mailed the cap to me and I received on January 9. So on January 10, I came in to your Redondo Beach store in the Galería Mall to try to get a store credit or exchange. But the person in charge was not cooperating and heartless of my situation and said that he could not do anything because there was a 30 day policy. I told him about my situation and I know other stores had extended there policy due to COVID because they actually care about their customers and their business. He said no and that was his policy and sorry nothing I can do for you. I can't believe how insensitive he could be at a time like this when we are not suppose to be going out. I chose this particular store at this location to purchase my first son's first new era hat (LA of course!) This was a big deal for me and bf. We wanted to wait till he was almost 1 y.o. so his hat would fit better and we could have fun trying some on! And on this particular day, it just so happened to be a bogo 50% off! Score!! So of course we got a blue and a black LA hat. The young man rings up our purchase and says to us (not strictly verbatim) "hey these qualify as a buy one get one 50% deal. So your total is only $xx.xx." Super score!! Me and my bf are ecstatic! We've been waiting such a long time! And what a great memory buying our son's first hat! But that moment was short-lived.. Unfortunately, the young man shouts across to his coworker, while she's actually helping another guest, that these hats are in fact part of the bogo 50% off. She leaves her guest, comes straight away to the register and changes it taking away the discount saying its not part of the deal. She then leaves with not a word or a glance in my direction. Not an apology. Nothing. I'm furious! What the f**k??!! What kind of customer service is this??! I mean it's already ringing up in your system! Not only did I not get the other hat, but as I asked the young man for details of this deal so I can see what the exclusions are, he could not provide it. I was ready to get the hell out the store and not get anything but my bf really wanted to get his son a hat so I didn't want to disappoint him. I'm a big fan of the New Era fitted caps and Lids has always been a big supplier of them. Most Lids stores that you'll find at the mall are fairly small in terms of square footage. This particular Lids located at the South Bay Galleria seems a bit bigger than most, and has a really good selection of fitted caps and less of those adjustable slouch ones. Currently, in addition to the standard authentic MLB caps, they carry a line of comic book superhero New Era caps which are pretty sweet (if you're into that sorta thing). If you buy hats as much as I do, it's worth checking out their "Lids Passport" membership, which gives you a 20% discount on purchases for the duration of a year. read more

Love Lids in general. 2 things: 1) Some nice woman came in to return a hat. The manager told her to come back in 30 since he was on lunch. 2) Came in to buy the buy one get the second 50% off. They only had a large in the second hat, the broncos. The guy on the floor said since it wasn't in store I couldn't get the discount. The manager came out who was "on lunch" so he had an attitude, said it wasn't his fault they didn't have stock and there was nothing he could do. Pretty bad customer service. My experience was not a happy one. There was only one employee in the small store and it was crowded. The employee had me to wait while he waited on three others before me and in the end refunded my money for the purchase I made the day before. He did not try to help me make an order that could be picked up later. Instead he rushed me and said that I might try another company instead of ordering for a pick up later. Time was wasted with him going online to see if the product was in stock and it was BUT he didn't really want to order it and he didn't. I will never enter that store again. read more
