And it is indeed a nice hat; 2 weeks later I was at a country music festival with over 30000 people and received many compliments. And just in case I needed further confirmation a set of cowboys in the 'real gear' were strolling by and one stopped in his tracks, looked at me and said, "Now fellows, that there is a nice hat." Gentlemen, this was once the garb with which we faced the world everyday. There was no room for childishness. No baggy jeans, no baseball caps (turned backwards like the wearer's brain), and no skateboarding under any circumstances. My grandfather was one of these men, and even when he was in his late '80s, he would never leave the house without a real hat, a manly fedora. Smithbilt Hats deals in manly fedoras, and cowboy hats. All custom-fitted, and made in-house for customers. These don't go cheap, but after my experience today, I will never consider wearing anything else. I have been eyeing a real fedora for some time. I got used to the look of wearing a hat by purchasing a low-level wool felt fedora online. It looked good on me. I felt it was time to make the look permanent. Perhaps even iconic. Smithbilt Hats is iconic. You walk in, and you smell the rich scent of the felts and, the wood floors. You can hear the craftsmen chatting in the back. It's an experience getting fitted into one of these babies. I settled on a coffee-coloured fedora with a 2 1/2 " brim. Luckily, my massive dome required some extra customizing that was done in the back of this marvelous workshop. As an aside, I decided to replace the hat's ribbon to one more suiting my taste. It's an incredible place, and hopefully, not a dying one. The hats are solid stuff, made to last years. They are generational pieces that transcend trends, and marketing gimmicks.

My fiance and I are getting married in Toronto in September of this year. His groomsmen and our fathers live in the Calgary, the Caymans, Ottawa, and Toronto. Suiting all these men proved to be a very difficult task. Enter Formans. The staff at Formans are unlike any staff I have EVER met. It is a family run business, and it is clear that they are passionate and proud of what they do. Their store is absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful clothing. Their knowledge is exceptional. Their friendliness is out of this world. And *genuine*. I left their store wide-eyed and speechless. Being self-employed myself, I am often frustrated at the poor customer care received these days. The staff at Formans blew my mind. My fiance and his men look stunning. They have all said nothing but amazing things about Formans. They truly treat you like family. Unfortunately I had an accident a few weeks ago that leave me with a injuries and deformities that will still be evident on my wedding day. At hearing this from my fiance, Simone at Formans surprised me and sent me this absolutely beautiful, large floral arrangement. I called and expressed my appreciation. Actually brought tears to my eyes. This woman owes me nothing and barely knows me. What a kind soul! Men: Go to Formans. Not only did I encounter some brands I'd never seen before, but they also perfectly hit my prized trifecta/venn diagram of shopping: bold and fun prints, natural fibers, and reasonably priced. The store has tons of floor space and is filled with happy colors, unique prints and a variety of styles. If I lived here this would be on my regular rotation. Staff was kind and helpful. I almost skipped out the door with my purchase, heart filled with shopping joy. I'd forgotten what that was like.

On…read moreAugust 5, 2026 at around 2:00 p.m. witnessed a remarkable scene with a would be thief attempting to run out of the store with a huge rectangular box. I was at the Customer Service desk for a return and heard the clerk say "not again" and I turned around to see Gary vehemently engaged in a tug of war with a large rectangular box the thief was attempting to leave the store with. Gary was very strong and determined to save this stock, Gary succeeded in saving the Walmart stock after several minutes of intense pushing and pulling. I was so impressed with him and the store greeter who had to endure the would be thief chasing after them and screaming at them. They did more than their job in defending the store and the goods and was impressed with their professionalism. It was truly a sight to see how the staff risk their lives and take their job and Walmart stock so seriously. I hope Walmart appreciates and honors people like Gary and the Store greeter for the valuable and loyal employees they are.

Yesterday we bought a roast chicken from the Walmart on 130Ave SE Calgary. my Son bit into a…read moredrumstick and I saw blood running out of the drumstick. He had already swallowed the bite before we could stop him. The rest of the chicken was pink and raw. When my husband returned it to the Walmart, he asked to speak to a manager. An assistant manager showed up half an hour later and said he MIGHT be able to refund the purchase. My husband asked If he thought that was an appropriate response given that the chicken had made our son sick, that our dinner was ruined, the time spent in driving as well as the gas it took. The assistant manager said he need to speak to a manager. Another half hour later, he returned and offered us a $20 gift Voucher. At no time did he apologize or express regret, instead he was surly. I am shocked that roast chicken would not be checked by a meat thermostat prior to being put out for sale, and shocked that bringing food poisoning to their attention appears to be an irritant for Walmart employees. The batch was brought in a huge rolling tray, I wonder how many others became ill from Walmart chicken. Walmart could have addressed this appropriately but chose not to. We have photographs of the chicken and a medical report for our son from the ER, perhaps legal action is the only way to get Walmart.s attention. In the meantime, be careful buying food from Walmart
