The 100 year old head shape and measuring device is just crazy cool. Wide, well stocked supply of a wide range of hat materials (we went Beaver). I'm sorry for the political plug here but I must: Denver, please understand these materials are imported from Europe where they kill the animals to eat them. Passing a law against fur affects more than the hat on your head and the coat you wear. Please vote against banning these materials that are used from birth to beyond death that sustain so much and so many. Back to Cowboy Up. We love our hats, hat bands, and a very special warrior pin she had found at an estate sale. We will be back. Really don't think you can have too many quality boots (thank you @Lucchese) or hats (@CowboyUpHatters).

I wanted a hat, preferably a western style hat that would bring me back to my youth riding my Paint or a friend's Quarter Horse or the occasional bull. I called a couple places in Denver, but wasn't impressed with their product knowledge. Then I called Cowboy Up, Coleen had me come by for a discussion. So; wife, mother-in-law, father-in-law and I jumped into the F-250 for the short ride to her shop. Now, my wife does not like to wear hats, especially cowgirl hats - always saying she didn't look good wearing one. Well, Coleen gave us a tour of her shop and the incredible artistry that goes into making individually created hats both of us were sold. Wife has a beaver mix and I have a unique Coypu hat. If you are looking for a one of a kind felt hat - Cowboy Up is the only place to go.

I can't recall now what ultimately pushed me towards using EmbroidMe, but I'm so glad I did. Working with Denise, the manager, was an absolute pleasure. She was great with communication, and wasn't afraid to offer constructive, professional advice when I asked for it during the process of designing 15 custom hats for an alumni gathering I was attending. As this was an especially important occasion--our 25th anniversary--I had to have the hats be right the first time, and completed on-time as the gathering was out-of-state, and under two weeks away. Throughout the process, Denise was in immediate contact when any design questions came up. This was especially reassuring as they actually took a hand-drawn design I had scanned over to them (detailed picture and multiple-sized words for front and back of hat) and turned it into a stencil/template for the hats, giving it a very personalized look. I couldn't believe the quality and attention to detail in recreating my sketch. Additionally, the color-matching her team was able to produce with the embroidery? Man, it was amazing! Oh, and they were completed in plenty of time, and nailed the agreed-upon price. Denise and her team just knocked it out of the park, and my alumni buddies were blown away with the finished product. I couldn't have been more proud to share such high-quality work for the occasion, and all thanks to Denise and her team at EmbroidMe. Highly recommended, and thank you SO much, Denise!!

Real Colorado lives on in this place. Walking in the store you know you're not in Kansas anymore…read more (It's the red barn you can see from I-70 a little west of Denver.) They are NOT some generic, corporate outlet. They ARE a family-owned business with a wide selection and outstanding service. Ask for Doug if you're shopping for boots. He knows everything. My teen wanted a pair of cowboy books and I had no idea where to begin. I asked around and searched the internet but really, you need someone with expertise. We went a couple of other places and everyone we met was a new hire. At High Country we found people with deep experience. Doug took care of us. He had repaired boots for decades before moving to the sales side. He had thoughtful, first-hand insights about boot construction, durability, and repair. He patiently answered every question we had to make sure we found the right fit for what we needed. Can't wait to go back when my other kids are ready for a pair. They offer boots on a wide range of price points and styles. They can tell why things cost what they do and what is worth paying for. Everybody's feet are different and every boot maker is a little different so you really can't order online. If they pinch or chafe you're not going to end up wearing them no matter how cool or cute they look. Going into the shop let us get the right boot the first time around. They should last for decades. It's worth investing the time and money to do it right.

This is a review for Jo, but story time first…read more In the mid 90's my husband was gifted his grandfather's beautiful rodeo cowboy hat by his grandmother. He has always been sentimental about it, wearing it often, beating it up with wear. Over the years it got crustier and gained more of a patina as he reshaped it over and over again over our tea kettle. The crustier it became, the more he loved it. One day it went missing, and for months he lamented his loss until it was uncovered, completely flat, under a stack of winter blankets. Regardless of its condition he excitedly worked to reshape it, once again reviving it and bringing it fully back to life (to my surprise!) About a month later he came home from work to find our dog Pepper had completely mangled it, tearing off hunks of the crown as if she were peeling a tennis ball, her favorite pastime. Devastation doesn't cover the emotional state of this poor man holding his grandfather's hat with huge holes all over it. It was a complete loss. Over the past year or so I have hunted high and low for a similar vintage rodeo hat he could reshape and make his own- with zero luck. It was on my list of things to hunt for when we visited a friend in Denver, she sent us off to the Brass Armadillo to hunt through the vast array of antiques and vintage. He tried on many hats and not one felt right. On our last full day in Denver we decided to stop into Western/// and decided on an open crown hat in just the right hue. That's when we met Jo, who took her time shaping this brand new hat from an old photo of the destroyed one. She took her time understanding the importance of finally finding a good replacement for such a sentimental loss. I'd found a hat too, and by the time Jo was satisfied with shaping the first hat it was already past closing time. She apologized for holding up our evening, but continued taking her time shaping the second hat just how I wanted it. By the time we left my husband had also purchased a handsome retro Wrangler denim jacket, something he's not apt to do- he doesn't ever treat himself! He was completely blissed out on his new hat. Never once were we rushed or made to feel as though we held anyone up. We were treated kindly, allowed to roam a bit to browse the selection, and eventually released into the chilly evening so Jo and her associate could finish closing the store- over an hour past closing time. I have to admit, we felt like finding something appropriate was a long shot and were fully prepared to walk in and right back out. Neither one of us resonated with the pre formed styles offered, so purchasing a blank and having a craftsperson like Jo tease out a shape by hand was impressive to observe, and both of us wore our hats out proudly. Afterward, we ended up going out for drinks at a cowboy themed bar in Denver just to celebrate our new hats. Jo, we want to thank you for taking your time to recreate something so special to my husband. He's looking forward to beating it up and making new memories in it. Thank you especially for treating us so well and for your hospitality after hours, we really appreciate it! 10/10 recommend Western ///, especially if you want a hat- and make sure to have Jo shape it for you. Decades ago my husband was gifted his grandpa's gorgeous vintage rodeo cowboy hat by his grandma so it had sentimental value. He wore it ragged, reshaped it many times using a tea kettle in our kitchen, reviving it over and over again. When it went missing for months he was distraught thinking it was gone forever, only to find it crushed flat as a pancake under a pile of winter blankets. He once again revived his beloved hat loving the way all the abuse over the years had given it a unique patina and crustiness. Then he came home one day to a trail of torn apart hat. Our dog had made a meal of it. He was DEVASTATED. He again tried a revival but the damage was just too insurmountable. I've hunted high and low for a well fitting replacement with similar coloring and it has just not surfaced. On our trip from CA to visit a friend in Arvada, we popped into High Country Western Wear on Saturday night hoping to find a replacement cowboy hat, not really thinking we'd find it. He settled on a similarly colored open crown style (while I found a nice bright red for myself) and Jo went to work shaping from an old photo. She worked and worked to get the shaping and fit just right. She took her time getting the slope just right on the brim, and crafting the crown just right. Jo was phenomenal. She recreated a very decent copy of the original making my husband an extremely happy man. As she shaped mine he found a retro wrangler jacket he couldn't live without. We both love our new hats! I definitely recommend this shop, Jo stayed a whole hour to make sure we got the exact hats we envisioned and was kind the entire time.
