This store is nicely stocked and clean and the employees were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed a giant pretzel from the bakery which had some other yummy looking items. There were some organic options in the produce area for a decent price but for the most part the prices seemed high, especially compared to Aldi's. We'll probably come back and give it another try. read more

I knew of these guys but this was my first interaction with Lidl - my first impression: "it's an Aldi wanna to be" my balloon immediately began to deflate upon entering after seeing they fall short of even Aldi (my next thought - why am I here?) yes I remember I need barbecue sauce uhmmm I don't recognize any brand that I've ever tasted so I have to use a proven decision tree method: Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, Catch a tiger by the toe. If he hollers, let him go, Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. This always gives results but it may not always be the most desirable results, but do you really want to stand in front of bottles of food stuff and show the world your indecisiveness? I am glad I stopped in so I know there is no need to ever stop in again even though they sell some stuff that is unique: Giant Frozen Sea Scallops - A Bakery with dispensers that reminds me of post office boxes. Clothing and groceries no no no they don't go together (is there a changing room? OMG I hope not). I first saw this store in Augusta GA. I didnt get a chance to go in, i thought their location looked pretty cool from the outside so i couldnt wait to try it out in Atlanta. The closest location for me was snellville, it was smaller than i expected. I got a cart and went in to see what was so different. I noticed the bakery and everything looked really good. My kids tried a few baked items and they enjoyed them. I walked thru to check out prices and to sée what type of brands they carried. It was like a bigger Aldis. Once checking out i found out it was like a sister to aldis grocery chain. I purchased a few things along with 2 bags and bagged up my items at the end like aldis. I was told to download the app for specials and rewards. I have done that, but somehow never made it back to shop again. I just may go again soon since its now fall. read more

The store was very crowded, probably because this weekend is the grand opening. The parking lot was full almost to capacity and they had flaggers there to direct traffic which was good. Inside the store was just a busy as outside the stores. They have a small floral section as soon as you walk in the store. The flowers looked pretty fresh, I believe the prices were reasonable. The store is an upsale Aldi's. Lots of Non-name brand items, with a few name brands sprinkled in. I spent about 2 hours in the store walking down each isle. The prices were just ok so there is no rush for me to go back. I didn't see any "bargains" therefore I only purchased a few items. I don't think this store will be my new grocery store but it is a nice change and addition to the neighborhood. read more

This Lidl is pretty awesome. It's much bigger and better than the Peachtree Corners location. They even have a self check out, like what? I like Lidl in general. Their eggs are super cheap. The Land of Lakes butter that I buy is much cheaper here. Their almond milk is pretty good. They have legit nuts. They have good baking products too. This is a German-based grocery store. When you come in, the aroma of bread wafts into your nose! The baked goods are fresh and delicious. It is literally the best grocery store baked goods you will ever have. They also have a lot of interesting European foods. One thing was infused olive oil, which I saw in Italy when I was there. is like an upgraded Aldi. The fruit and veggies are good. The prices are also good. I bought organic chicken packs; they looked good, and they were yummy. The downside is there are times that it's been too busy for me on the weekend. The store and parking lot can be messy on the weekend too. I hate the Asiago cheese they carry. All of the other dairy products have been good. The store is extremely kid-friendly, and I recommend coming when the kids are in school if you can to avoid crowds. read more

I'm from New York City, we don't have Lidl, at least I'm not aware of it. We have Aldi's which is Lidl's less attractive sister store lol. My mom raved about Lidl so, while I was in town we ventured over. Its a simple store, very similar to Aldi's however, the selection is a little better and they offer more name brand foods. They also offer quality school supplies and fresh baked goods , I really liked that. However, some of the produce such as the strawberries weren't that great and sizing for some products is limited. For instance, you won't find 8oz and 16oz of peanut butter, most likely it'll just be 16oz offered which is a bit much for a single person as myself. Honestly, it reminds me of Ikea, if they had a supermarket. There is plenty of parking and customer service was good. Overall, I really wish there was one close to my house. I would definitely return and I recommend it to others. read more

Made my last trip to Lidl's today; Their stock people are more important than their customers. 4 of their 6 isles were blocked today by stock people who could care less that a customer could not reach the products they need. They seem to go to great lengths to position their machines and boxes in the center of a lane to make sure a customer could not get by. I tried to get one's attention, but they were "plugged in". As I opened a freezer door to get a product, a stock person said "Excuse me! I need to get by!" How dare I! Get in the way of a stock person. Ok, stock people, the store is yours; I will never be back! Only half the things on my list were in stock anyway... Some of their sale items are never delivered to the store. I am sure Wal-Mart will welcome me back... They do most of their stocking overnight like serious grocers do. read more

I don't know why I expected this place to be super different. It's not a bad similarlity to other grocery stores, it just seemed marketed to be... different. I would say Lidl is a mix between Aldi & Trader Joes. I've heard it is a sister company to Aldi anyway, but basically it is an Aldi that is just a little bit bigger. But they do have some features that I liked. I downloaded their app and they offer coupons and deals such as $5 off which is different from Aldi. Also they keep track of how much you spend over a month and offer different prizes if you end up spending that much money. (I've only visited once, so I haven't yet, but the gamer in me is interested to find out what the prize would be. The inner realistic Ravi knows this is a scheme to get me to spend more money :P.) It is still cool that they email you and let you know though! I love technology that enhances every day activities. They do have great prices on products though, especially the ones they have sales on. I am interested to see how this place plays out in the Gwinnett community. It is a little farther away from me in Lawrenceville than I thought it would be though. read more

Nothing exciting here. Reminds me of Aldie which I never shop. I was not impressed with this place and if I lived in the Atlanta area I know I would not shop here. There are however a few good deals to be had but not enough to bring me in there to shop. Every place has specials. But my sisters love this place and I just went with them along for the ride. Decided to check out my new neighborhood Lidl, gave 3 stars because cust service was decent. prices are so so, no super bargains. Now let's talk about the bakery. My first visit was early in the day and the croissants were delicious and the display was beautiful which it should be because it's the first thing u see when u walk in. Now my second visit was after work around 5, The bakery was a mess. They were out of almost everything and what was left was unappealing and so stale not for human consumption. Perhaps they bake only once a day in the morning (btw they don't close until 10pm) & whatever is left for the after work crowd has been sitting out all day & If that's the case I will gladly continue to frequent the Walmart marketplace down the road. I will check out the bakery situation one more time because the croissant were so yummy! Will send updated review. read more

I wish the East side of McDonough had a Lidl! It's literally Aldi on steroids, and I do 95% of my shopping at Aldi. I liked the bakery too! I really hate I cant give this long awaited store more stars! I waited a long time with high hopes for this store to open, even gave it 4 trips before writing a review. But I find with each trip my experience gets worse. I'm going to start with the Bakery since its the ONLY reason I will go there from now on. But I am learning if you dont get there early morning, the bakery experience is lacking.Rosemary bread is really good, if you can find any. Again, guess its all in the timing. I had my last visit today and will not return except for bakery goodies. I thought the prices on meats were good until I had to throw out some beef, twice, that did not smell good. Won't be doing that again. I'm wondering if the temperature on the meat cases are not correct. Some of the meat is discolored, red flag, not risking it. Im disapointed with the variety and find non food items priced too high. Not enough organic produce for me but some items are priced good. I checked a lot of the expiration dates today and most of the meat seemed to expire in 3 days. So I'm not sure how soon they turn their meat around, but that's just not fresh enough for me. I don't know if I'm just lucky but I seem to always be in line with some of the rudess people. One visit, the woman in front of me, who was on her phone, got mad when I placed few of my items on the belt without a divider, of which there was none. There was a huge space in between our groceries but that seemed to really irritate her and she proceeded to talk about me to the person on the other end of the phone as if I couldnt hear her. Her phone conversation was more important than the line of people she was holding up. Then today, the cashier rang my groceries up faster than I could bag them crushing my bread. And the woman behind me in checkout kept pushing my shopping cart with hers trying to push me out of the line before I could bag everything. I ended up just putting the unbagged items in my cart and left. I hate feeling rushed when Im already moving as fast as I can. I get out to the parking lot and find a shopping cart up next to my car. I parked one car away from the buggy corral! Are you kidding me? You couldn't walk a few freakin feet?! What happened to common courtesy? Try it. Call me crazy but I expect more of a pleasant shopping experience if I'm expected to shower and put on a bra, otherwise I just could have went to Walmart. read more

Just left this market. It has lost its newest...trash spilling all over trash can...trash on ground and in area of carts....by the way...we had to find a cart. Spoke directly to Manager...told him of my discontent...and also how his clerk scanned an item and tried to key and no price came up....I told her it's free...she said I will ask one of my superiors and the young lady with a attitude said give it to her for 4.99....it was clearly less than this...they didn't go check price etc...horrible experience....won't be back read more

Attended grand opening in Snellville, so busy, hard to form an opinion...made the 25 minute drive back out today to pick up a few specials, and spend more time checking the place out. I worked in a grocery for a few years, and now shop at Aldi and Target. I just don't understand the layout of the Lidl. Things are grouped together in an odd way, and the non-grocery items seem to take over a lot of the store. Today's experience was not good. Long lines at the 3 open registers, 2 of the 4 self checks were working, and stock to be placed on shelves-unattended in the aisle. Then after a painful self check out (unlike aldi where the barcodes are huge) it seemed the bar codes on the bag of chips are on the crease, so you need to take time to increase in order to scan...get home to find out I was charged regular price for the "special sale" items. It was really not worth the trip for me. read more

Disappointing. Very low prices on many things, but way too much unnecessary plastic packaging. Not as much fresh organic fruits and produce as I was led to believe. Stood for over five minutes, along with three other customers, waiting for someone to come help us with the self checkout stations which were all non-functional for various reasons. No one ever came. One lady picked up her stuff and moved to a manned register, while I asked an employee if someone was coming. She never acknowledged me. I'm surprised to see so many bad reviews but what people seem to forget is that this is a German grocery store with SOME American consents and products. The customer service culture has a LONG way to go. Lidle advertised a special on EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL. Despite the fact that 5 days (including today) remain, they were out. No rain check. Perhaps Ads should read - while they last! Problem at check out, monitor said a service rep was on the way. No they were not. No one came, no one was assigned to cover the self check out area. After 5 full minutes, had to go find someone ourselves for the help. A few minutes before, two employees were talking, I needed to ask a question so I waited just a few feet away, but in one of the employees line of sight. IMO he obviously knew I was waiting to ask him something but when he finished his conversation he just turned and walked away. So the question never got asked. Person that finally came, looked at me like, "why are you bothering me." He NEVER said a word to me or my wife, just kept sighing. I am thrilled. The milk is 1.17/gal. The extra large eggs are $.59/doz. (regular prices) produce is fresh and much better than Aldi's. Mangoes are .47 as opposed to 2/3.00, this week giant strawberries are 1.49/lb. the aisles are wide, the electric scooter always charged. Employees have always known what I asked about and super helpful. Gosh, I don't mind packing my own bag. I know what I have where as opposed to some bagger putting a refrigerator item under the bread. A reviewer wrote about the giant sea scallops. I paid 6.99 the same week they were 21.99 at Kroger's. Krogers's is MY store but I price and shop Sprouts, Aldi's, and Lidls, as well. read more

I'll start with the good. They have free Wi-Fi, they have bakery items (like vanilla and chocolate rolls!) and they have a self checkout...that only KIND OF works. Now the reason I gave 2 stars is because I have tried Lidl over and over again and have seen issue after issue. I finally have had it and felt like I needed to voice my concerns. My first concern is the quality. Their prices are great and are very competitive with Aldo BUT I have never gone to a place when I refused to buy meat. One of the first times I went after their opening, I opened a chicken cooler and was hit with the stench of old rotting chicken. It was absolutely disgusting and I decided that I wouldn't even bother. Now fast forward to the next time I came in about a couple of months after opening and again I was hit with chicken smell. It wasn't quite fresh but it wasn't rotting. The first package I grabbed, my finger went straight into it. The package not only had a hole but was leaking everywhere in the case. I notified someone and gave them the broken package and received a "Oh. Ok thanks." response. I do deliveries to people and decided that I personally would NOT shop for their meat anymore but have sense for customers. I have yet to find another dripping package but I always smell the chicken that has sat too long at room temp for a day smell. Always. You'd think someone would clean it once and awhile. My second concern is the produce. I haven't had really any issues with it in the past and have found some really great deals and great tasting produce but today was not that day. You can't help if produce is ripe or not but you can help what's placed out for sale. I searched 3 boxes of iceberg lettuce to find a single head that was worth using and if there wasn't a tan slimy root or rotting leaves, it was a tan slimy spot wrapped around the head. My third concern with Lidl are the employees. I have run into some VERY nice check out clerks and I have also been run OVER by some super lackadaisical workers. No one seems to pay attention to their surroundings and I have on more than one occasion been hit or shoved to the side while they wheel huge loading carts around the store. They'll skip off and laugh and giggle with their fellow employees and completely ignore the customer you have blocked in with stuff that's half stocked. The managers don't seem to care but they also are either picking up the slack or running around huffing and puffing at everything. We've asked managers before about location of items and been told in so many words, we don't have it get out of my face. I was so excited to try Lidl and I was honestly convinced they'd be taking Aldi's spot for European grocery store of the year but if you ask me now? I'm not shocked if the place hangs for a year or 2 then shuts down. Aldi has low prices as well and they may not be as close, but they at least back ups their prices with attention to details Lidl ignores. read more

They need to do a better job with the bakery. I wanted to buy a German sourdough loaf but the loaves were just out in the open, not in a plastic bag. People could reach in and touch them with their bare hands. Not real hygienic. read more

This store is a welcome change to shopping. Lidl offers grass fed beef and organics at the best prices. I bought a pastry wrapped salmon for $3.99 that was superb, enough for 3 people. Prices on other food items are the best. I dont understand the bad ratings. I've purchased bad fruits, veggies, meat and produce at Kroger, Publix and Walmart, at higher prices. This is a specialty store and you have to be a shopper to appreciate what they bring to the nieghborhood. The bakery could be maintained better after a rush, but talk to the Mgr about.
