Very disappointed, never go there again I felt I was in a dollar store . Empty shell and no brands . Horrible.

Little things to know about lidl. Return policies and procedures. FYI. Just wanting to share this experience, letting you know, that there is No customer service desk. Have returns? Have receipt. No need to explain why you are returning items. Have correct credit card or way you made of payment, with you. Pick a cash register line. Get on it. Tell cashier you need to return. A manager will come. if your credit card is denied for refund in their card machine, double check the receipt yourself to see if it is the correct card that you used. Asking the cashier, mine, was the sweet girl Selena L., you can get an incorrect response to the ending number of the card that was used. Don't despair, they do give you cash for the return when this happens. They must do each transaction separately, even if you have one or two receipts that has the various items being returned on them. If you should get a lot of change and ask for bills instead, the reply is, or at least was in my case, we don't do that, though this one time an exception would be made; if you wanted that, you would have to go back on the line again, after all there are other people waiting. Though I had a conference to get back to, and the unexpected time consumption used my break time, that was not a consideration of theirs. At least that is the response I got from manager Senguge. (my spelling may be incorrect as I only saw his name tag briefly.) So, be aware and, take it for what it's worth. read more

This store belongs in a lower income area. It attracts shoppers from other towns. It is no Trader Joe's or Shoprite. If you are desperate for half a gallon of milk, be my guest. Otherwise, enjoy this "John's Bargain Store." Before you know it, it will close up and go to a Levitttown area. Also, there is a 7 cent charge per bag. read more

This store in Plainview could have been better. The bakery is underwhelming. The prices generally - not really competitive. I would recommend the Shop Rite over on South Oyster Bay Road. The bakery at Shop Rite or Stop N Shop is easily superior to this one. The store reminded me of grocery stores I saw in Europe. Sparsely stocked. Almost haphazard looking shelf items. The beer prices were low. For a Rochester, NY produced Wheat beer six-pack it was under $7.00 And for a imported German six pack of 16 ounce bottles priced under $10.00. And that's what I purchased. As far as those products themselves, I wont be buying them again. They too, like the store, were underwhelming. I don't foresee Lidl surviving much less competing with Aldi. read more

Lidl was a curiosity visit when they came to LI, and they've managed to take my shopping $ partly away from the warehouse and even my fav TJ's. They fill a different spot in my food shop list than others do. Don't always need club size and yet they have those too here. Seems they have many brand items at better prices than elsewhere, like their competition Aldi good prices. (I don't like the Aldi experience relatively speaking.) Good processed items selection, you usual grocery store stuff, not high end items usually, but they rotate. Awesome weekend specials and sale prices to boot. Wonderful produce selection fresh and some organic too. Nice Bakery section as well for fresh. Good seafood and meat prices that can't be beat, seriously its amazing so far for grass fed steaks etc. How do they do it lol. Their house name items are actually really good, like TP, paper towels and way better price. Also a great middle variety items section like they mystery box of stuff to find. So Usually enough staff around to get things done and answer questions, the obvious negative is line management. Not handling that well can be a detriment, please work on that. I like the self check out here personally got used to it and works for me. But when I need a cashier its usually 1 open or 2 at most, that's not so good for some customers. As a side note they took over the old Shoprite location here, I like them too but the "fanboys" that love them need to hate on Lidl its just sad. More good stores better. Yes Shoprite line management staff etc are friendlier no doubt, but that's kind of why I point it out. Lidl staff aren't mean or bad, but not on that level if that's your expectation. read more

There's never enough employees working at this location! I feel for my elders who have to stand on those lines. The lines are always long. Then outside where the bottle/can redemption machines are is also a joke. The bottle return machines are always full and the staff don't check the machines often enough. I feel bad when I see people arrive to the machines to only leave with a look of discouragement after lugging their recyclables. :( read more

I came into the store for the first time looking to see what Lidl can bring to the region. I was pleasantly surprised by the clean organization and the assortment of products. They have fresh baked goods, packaged deli, household items and produce. Also extremely surprised by the options of non-supermarket items such as blenders, seasonal jackets, and miscellaneous items. Great selection and great prices. Will be a wonderful addition to the area. I had a question about an item and was helped greatly by Kevin C, an assistant store manager. He was wonderful, extremely helpful and made it a pleasant experience. I look forward to coming here again. read more

Staffed with only two registers open resulting in a long line allowing for one customer to enter for every five people who exited. Not worth anyone's time or money. As customers we have many choices and waiting on a crowded line is never a good idea in today's environment. read more

If you need a quart of milk or ran out of salt this store is fine. The absolute worst bread ever...prices the same as or more than others...the stock is in boxes on the shelves and the shelf price stickers are all wrong...terrible store! read more

Not realizing I just spent $16.08 for six bottles of lidl brand 100% apple juice. Last week 6 bottles of the same apple juice cost was $ 5.70. There was no sign indicating new price. Old 95 cent sign still there. Don't understand such a drastic increase in price. I'm not that good at math but the new price is almost 3x as much. It's not as if the apples were harvested and processed into juice in one week. Think I'll return them tomorrow and go to Aldi or Walmart for apple juice. I know its only a $10.00 difference but that takes me 1/2 hr to earn at work. Need to get the most for my hard earned money read more

This is a weird store when compared with supermarkets that we are used to. And that wouldn't matter if LIDL wasn't so determined to annoy their customers. #1 annoyance is the checkouts. Although the Ols Cntry Rd store does have self checkouts and that is great, But the East meadow store does not and it takes forever to check out. #2. the suspiciously low prices is just not true. Like any store that have a mix of items that they do have some good prices, and plenty of items that are average and some that are higher. So I was at the store and I get my eggs there because they do have good egg prices. I went to the egg refrigerator and it was Empty? Its not easy to find someone in charge at a LIDL. So I walked across the store and found one of the the LIDL guys who was wearing the Lidl important shirt and he was stocking some shelves and I asked him... "Are you really out of eggs?" Now a question like that to a Supermarket manager usually gets a response like: The delivery was messed up they will be in Thursday, or Something happened with our egg source and they are not delivering we don't know when they will be in, or something commiseratory on the lack of this item. But not at LIDL, He just looked annoyed, sighed and slowly walked away from me without saying a word. Wow, He must be their top public relations guy! So get what you need at LiDL if they have a good price on that particular item, But be prepared to be annoyed in the worlds most unfriendliest supermarket. They really wish you didn't come in to bother them. read more

I can't even give one star but needed to in order to post...I went to the Westhampton Beach NY store- first I was assaulted by the aroma of rotting flowers, then I was tortured by the lighting, the store was a maze of nonsense, deli section nope, then bins of random household crap, shelves full of dusty foods, fruits and vegetables in boxes, the a frozen seafood section thrown in the midst, couldn't find anything, no one to help, wandering aimlessly down aisles like bowling alleys, after an unsuccessful trip around the world, came time to find registers, only to realize they were all the way passed where I walked in, found a register, to ask if someone could help me purchase a chocolate bar, where the gentlemen behind me threw his waters and tomatoes on moving belt, and cursing and yelling what kind of store is this!!! Needless to say after this wonderful experience I will not be returning to LiDL ever!!!! What a disgrace to have this depressing, ridiculous store in this town. Get out!!!! read more

The fact that staples, such as eggs and chicken are frequently out of stock means that this should NOT be your primary supermarket. The fact that employees at the Jericho store are rude and clueless means that this should not even be a secondary consideration. When you additionally consider that there is no customer service counter and no phone number for customer service, you have to wonder whether this company cares about customers at all! read more

When you evaluate what you can get at Lidl - high quality, good-tasting food that easily surpasses many 'name' brands at dramatically lower prices - you can't help but give it a five-star review. And that's what I've done. Do ya like ice cream? Are you fond o' funky flavors like the ones offered by Ben & Jerrys for $4.89 a pint? Why not check out Lidl's Banana Chocolate PB Cup for $1.88 per pint! Yep. $1.88. Same price for their (no high fructose corn syrup) vanilla, chocolate, etc. quarts. Buying a loaf of bread? Are you rannoyed that the honey wheat loaf you picked up last week for $2.99 at Target ON SALE(!) is back to $3.99 off sale. Well, a large loaf of very nice honey wheat bread at Lidl is under 2 bucks. The bottled iced teas (peach, green, etc.) are under a buck. Always. I'm not waiting for PureLeaf to go on sale at ShopRite. And I liked the taste of the Lidl tea better. The macaroni / potato salads beat Black Bear and cream them in price. Lidl flavored seltzers (though limited to only a few flavors) are .55 a bottle, compared to .89 a bottle for ShopRite's brand. The many flavors of chocolate bars available there are (mostly) fantastic (with a few being just 'pretty good'). Their regular price on cage free and organic eggs beat most supermarkets sale prices. I defy anyone to find Bounty more quicker at picker-uppering than Lidl brand paper towels. They also beat the ... well, whatever ... out of Scott brand toilet tissue's prices - again, even on sale. And the cold cuts are pretty darn good. The sushi, by the way, somehow says 'Best Market' on the package. Wha? Look, folks, this isn't meant to be ShopRite or Stop & Shop. This place is really meant to be taking a poke at places like 'Trader Joes', where one goes to get a store brand item as a replacement for a far more expensive name brand. Think of it that way. Experiment with their Lidl line of products and do some blind taste tests with family members (which is what we had fun doing with some items). No, you won't be able to go their to find your favorite organic salsa brand on sale. But you may find that you like Lidl's version even more ... and then you don't have to wait until it's on sale to treat yourself! Ah, the staff is also quite friendly (even though we had an odd experience with their corporate/central office, but that's another story). You do need to buy plastic bags (they're 10 cents folks, live with it, LOL), and the self checkouts don't have cash options. Little things like that shouldn't take off stars or have folks avoid the place. If you're reading this review, you're prepared. Now ... go shop and have fun. Get the ice cream. Trust me. read more

First went to Lidl at beginning of pandemic, because it was smaller than SHOPRITE & had no line. It had some basic items that I needed; had to compromise though because they do not carry a simple quart of milk , only half gallon, and no skim. Ok no biggie; the milk is 1.99 for a half gallon. It has grown downhill since then. The parking lot and front sidewalk is littered with trash, something you'd never see when SHOPRITE was there. They seem to have problems with supply chain because whenever I inquire about an item, they say, it's coming in tomorrow! Yeah, right. Frozen food cases are more than half empty. Very few cashiers; seems like management has to serve as cashiers; since they don't have enough. They have no "courtesy" desk, which is appropriate since they don't believe in courtesy. Hard to get an employee to even answer a question. This customer will not be returning. read more

Not my type of Store sorry, did not like anything about it. I really tried to find one positive, but I looked had my own bags ready to shop and left with nothing. Maybe the rest of syosset and Woodbury is ready for bargain basement shopping but not this girl. Reminded me of an orange dollar store. Good luck to them! What a scam! Lidl advertises deep sales on merchandise that they don't carry, have no intention of carrying or have so little stock you need to be the first 3 or 4 customers to get one. I used to shop here thinking the sales items were sold out because I waited a few days to get to the store. This happened time and time again. You hear the people who work there all over the store saying "sorry, we're sold out." Today I decided to get to the store when it opened at 8:00 a.m. and I was the 6th or 7th person on line. They opened and, low and behold, they were sold out of the two items I came for. The manager or whoever he was said they had only four to begin with of one thing and hadn't received any of the other at all. What???!!! The ad said limited quantities but 4? My friends told me Lidl had a reputation of being unreliable. At first I was seduced by the low prices on the produce (though very limited variety) and cheap croissants. I'm joining my friends and shopping elsewhere from now on. Aldi is a trip but worth it. And Trader Joe's is and will always be the best place to shop for quality and prices and lovely employees. read more

If you grew up with stores like waldbaums, this will not work for you. I tried Lidl and was disappointed.

It's not like supermarket shopping..It's like a slightly larger Trader Joes. It's okay for running in for milk, and basics instead of the huge hard to navigate Shoprite. A young family cannot do a large weekly shopping there. Can't even run in for a can of cat food. One brand, their own, in plastic containers. You drink Pepsi, too bad, they only have Coke lol. I will as I said run in for a few things here and there, but I'm so disappointed.. I was praying for another supermarket, as I hate the new Shoprite which is further from my house, crowded and too too big. Now to sit back and see if they last.. I'm not so sure they will. read more

My sister and my wife had to stay in line to the store because the manager and his team didn't want let them in without the wait even though they are medical professional on their first day off since very long time. Lidl in the Morton Village Shopping Center, Plainview, NY is a German owned grocery mart. It not only sells foods. It has tools, clothing and flowers & plants & sundries. I stopped in at Lidl's to look around and Lidl had many of their assistants on the floor with microphones. This was around the opening and I was not that impressed. On that visit, I did not purchase anything. Then with the pandemic, I was shopping anywhere that I was. After I shopped at CVS, I went into Lidl. They did not have a sanitizer dispenser that you could wipe your hands & the bar of the shopping cart. I carry my own supplies. I took out my large bottle of sanitizer & a paper towel to do the above. I was able to obtain bread and hamburger rolls at a cheaper price than ShopRite. I then picked up eggs & lactose free milk which were cheaper also. Their lactose free milk is not only cheaper but delicious. I don't believe that I ever said that about milk before. I saw a crowd of people toward the front of the store, Lidl had boxes of sanitizer wipes. I grabbed two boxes. They worked out wonderfully in wiping down contact surfaces. I went over where they had peanut butter. I bought Gold's crunchy peanut butter & it was delicious. I really can't comment on its price. I don't like Lidl's brand of peanut butter which I purchased on another trip because they did not have Gold's. I do not believe you could do your weekly shopping here. If you experiment with the food, you will definitely have your favorites. I have not yet purchased any of their non food or beverages yet! When I went to check out, I was complaining to the cashier about the fact that there were no hand sanitizers. The cashier told me that I have to ask the cashiers. She pulled out a drawer and gave me a wipe. Who knew? read more

I started shopping here about three months ago. It reminds me of shopping in a European grocery store which for me is a good thing. You won't find all the brand names, but you will find some, however I have found the Lidl brand is quite good. The produce is not the best. It looks fresh in the store, but doesn't last at home for more than a day or two, so don't buy ripe because it won't last but a day. While I do enjoy the food, oftentimes finding items that you can't find elsewhere, I must comment negatively on the staff. I find them stiff, uncaring, unfriendly and not customer service oriented. If i didn't like the interesting merchandise as much as I do, I wouldn't go back mainly because of the staff. If you see something you might like, but a few, you may never find it again. There are a lot of special items that don't return. Prices are quite good and I feel much better than Aldi overall. I still need a visit to Stop and Shop to round out my necessities, but that doesn't deter me from shopping here. read more
