They really need more cashiers and why is self check out never open??? Not very customer centric.

This was my first time at this Lidl location (since it used to be DSW). I had a great experience here, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the overall layout and design of the store. I did go on a cold early Saturday morning - so the store wasn't very packed, with only few people shopping. The self checkouts are also so nice because the lines at other Lidl locations (Astoria, especially) are atrociously long so the self checkout option offers a great alternative to finish up fast! The produce section is large! Very generous and very convenient to have that in a Lidl. Much better than the Astoria location. I found some great organic options in the produce section as well (peppers, tomato's, avocados, cucumbers) and overall, their seasonal isle was also stock very well and neatly organized. I was also on a mission to find Pillsbury pie crusts for chicken and cheese / tuna "empanadas" I make and I asked one associate who was friendly enough and was able to show me the Lild version (because they didn't have the Pillsbury kind). The recipe worked out just a good with it. I'll be coming back for sure! read more

Lidl is a German chain of over 12,000 stores in every member sate of the European Union. In 2017 the chain expanded its stores into the United States. For those wondering what type of store this is, think less Whole Foods and more of an Aldi. Lidl carries a limited selection of name brand items alongside their own brands of products at discount. I frequent this particular shopping center because of the Target on the upper levels. Over the years a few stores here have closed but many remain including a Macy's clearance location and a couple eateries. Much to my surprise, as I was leaving recently I ran across the Lidl sign on the main level leading me downstairs. Take the elevator down from the main area and it takes you straight to the supermarket. My only point of comparison for Lidl stores is their location in Garwood, NJ. Compared to that location this one is better organized with wider aisles (or at least it felt that way). I was very impressed by how well stocked the shelves are and how clean everything looked. Now, I grant this is a new location so it shouldn't look run down. The prices at Lidl are generally lower than other markets. That's kind of the point. While they may not have the variety of name brands like a Shop Rite might, they definitely have what you'll need for a basic shopping trip. You may wonder, with Target upstairs having a grocery section is this really necessary? I'd say yes. While the Target grocery section is nice, I think you could use Target and Lidl together for a complete shopping trip. read more

I have been a big fan of Lidl since they opened in Astoria, Queens. Now they opened in my neighborhood I use to shop here often. Now no more So why the one star ? It's their customer service & and pricing policy that pissed me off! Lidl have new prices & sales starting Wednesday to the next Tuesday. I was in this Lidl shopping on Tuesday at 5pm to buy an item that was on sale; it was frozen blueberries 50¢ off. At the cashier they won't give me the sales price because the store manger said they already changed the prices in the system and the sales price stickers is no good and won't override. The Sale manager just yank off the price and refuse the give me the sale price. He said doesn't care what the flyer dates are or the NYC law that states if the price is on the shelf you have to sell it to the customer. So at 5:30pm on this Tuesday in called the LIDL customer service number to complain; found it on their App. The recorded message I got was "this office is closed at 6pm (it was 5:30pm), please call back tomorrow." So pissed. So I left a message of my issues and left my number. No reply after a month. One for LIDL and they lost a loyal customer. There are plenty of other supermarkets I can spend my money at in the area; Alda, Stop & Shop, Key food, Trader Joe's. read more

Came here to LIDL on their Grand Opening day at 8 am. Long lines all the way outside of the Queens Place door. We were outside lined up outside of Chipotle and more patrons coming. Once inside building saw grand opening for 7:30 AM. Did not get any prizes nor goodies. Oh well, just wanted to see the place myself. Was very impressed with the size of the store for this LIDL took over the entire lower floor where it was once DSW. There were so many people and aisles fill with in coming patrons with carts too. It was like a mob scene at the bakery area. I was able to get two donuts, two croissants and two hazelnut croissant and just went to check out. Long lines there too, but they have a self-check out. Omg!!! Amazing. Staff showed me to scan barcode on your app. and scan away. Check out is a breeze. For bakery items just go to their menu and click item and amount. I left before going through the entire store not room to do this. Will definitely be back. Will post update next time I visit this LIDL. Now, Queens Place will have more foot traffic and patrons coming because of LIDL. Congratulations to LIDL opening in Queens place. Great for the community. Wow! LIDL is the place to be. I having been shopping at Lidl's supermarket in NJ for a long time and I was so excited that they finally opened a location closer to the neighborhood. I love that many of their products are from Canada, Europe plus practically everything is their brand. I always check out their weekly specials. Sometimes it is so worth just coming here to buy my staples when they have a sale. They have a great variety of snacks, and potato chips here I love their all dressed potato chips. I also buy their shredded cheeses, milk plus more. Their prices are so affordable its worth it for me to come here at least once a week. They also offer fresh hot breads, rolls, pretzels, croissants, plus more. Everything that they bake is just prepacked and heated up. My neighborhood supermarkets are owned by the same corporation it bothers me that everything can be so ridiculously expensive and for some regular staples for me, Lidl's offer these items at a fraction of the cost. read more

I had to come check it out once I found out that Lidl was opening. I haven't heard of it beforehand. You need to go down the escalators, and it's where dsw used to be located. I don't remember dsw being that large, so when I went inside of Lidl, I was in for a surprise. Everything was spread out, and it felt a little bit like Aldi. The prices were decent for the size of what you're getting. There are name brands and non name brands. At the end of it all, you can either do self check out or go to a cashier. read more

Recycle is a not professional. I went on a Sunday to return 23 Lidl brand plastic bottles. I had to carry it a long way. I get to register as did before because they had no machines working then. I go way in the back are two recycle machines. One is full and the other says does not accept the bottles. This is the Lidl brand bottles and it is not accepting it. I ask a worker for help he can't change the full machine. Says he knows the other one has not accepted bottles before. So getting no help what can I do. I leave and throw the bottles away. I cannot carry it back. Then return one day to only be told probably some excuse not to accept it. And I should not have to return again for it. This is not professional. A shop that is not accepting it's own brand. I should not have to point this out to the store. It's just not right at all. I am disgusted and going to shop here less in the future. read more

I visited Lidl on Sunday and it was my first time in one. the first thing I noticed was the smell of fresh bread. the store seemed easy to navigate. It has your typical produce, fresh meats, frozen section, baby section, beauty, household items, and then lots of European brands. it also sells the same things one would find in Trader Joe's or Aldi. I like the turmeric and ginger shots. the prices seemed pretty typical. the fresh bread was buy one get one free. I purchased 2 chocolate croissants. In the end, I spent about $70. A $10 off coupon was attached to my receipt. I used self-checkout. I was able to get in and out and the lines were that long. oh, there were also people giving out samples. there are public restrooms too. I will download the app to see if I will get more savings. Lidl is new at this location! It takes up the space in the lower level where DSW Shoes used to be, but it appears to be bigger! There are bargains to be had here! They have their own brands and do carry store brands too! This spacious store has a bakery section that is self service! There are cashiers and self-checkout! It took a while for LIDL to open so more shopping opportunities finally for all. Don't miss the household items too! I got the pumpkin pie spice for only $2.35 and that is regular price! Really good prices! More stores should follow suit! I have never seen the "pork roll" in any store. That's a very iconic NJ food product! I am not sure how to get the discounts though, as mine did not get taken off as I am looking at the receipt! I guess another visit is in order if I can't fix it via customer support online! read more

I came here when it first opened and Lidl is a game changer when it comes to grocery shopping. All other places in the area are no match when it comes to the the quality and the prices. The bakery selection is great and the chocolate donut is no exception. The staff is very helpful and is always willing to help you find a certain food. The store is overall great and a good choice when it comes to grocery shopping. read more

This store is horrible (and I was their second customer on opening day, getting up at 5AM for the occasion, excited then to have this new store in the neighborod). The staff is rude. The baskets are filthy. The sale prices are often not honored at the cashier. 2 incidents happening this month: 32oz yogurt tub on sale for $2.48 in November and December 2024 (price and date on shelf label). $2.70 at cashier. When asked about difference employee answers that he cannot do anything about it. I asked him to call a supervisor. After a few minutes one shows up to say she does not want to be involved and walks away. An other one comes, finally agrees to honor price but decides to remove sale label so now for end of November and December price will be $2.70, no more sale, thanks to Lidl not being able to get its acts together. 2nd incident: Item with reduced price of $1.41 ends up being scanned at $1.99 at cashier. When asking a supervisor about it, her answer was that price on label does not mean a thing, that her system figured $1.99 and this is the price like it or not. During both incidents, cashier and supervisor attitude was "we just work here so we do not really care". Be careful prospective buyers: check carefully what you are charged at the cashier, above all when items are on sale. read more

The prices are seriously insane! Smithfield bacon is only $4.80 here regular price when I've never seen it for under $5.99 anywhere else. One star removed because the bakery section, while still good, wasn't "ready to eat" as advertised since a lot of it was just room temp or cold by the time I went (2pm). But a couple seconds in the microwave/airfryer and it tastes freshly made even 1 day later, so that's good at least read more
