Lately Lidl is never really fully stock -you see empty isles-the meat section sometimes are empty. You don't see too many employees around. The bakery section if you buy bread-pastries make sure you eat them the same day because next day is dry or bread is hard not sure why that happens. Shopping carts = rarely outside store entrance. Have to bring own from parking lot. Flowers = good price, fresh but selection smaller lately Prices = good but lately have to buy "2" to get better price. Bakery = fresh & excellent but depends on time of day. Bags not always stocked & have to bend down to floor to get them from spot they are stored. Service = checkout rarely talk to you but it's like that everywhere now :( Floor workers do help find things or if don't carry them. Stretched thin. Cleanliness = bathrooms always clean but personally store does not feel or look clean. read more

I'm liking them more compared to their competitor Aldi. First of all, they have a baked goods area. Pastries, pretzels and donuts run from 50 cents to 99 cents. Loaves of bread are $3 and they have a self serve bread slicer. Second, their meat department is much larger and they have more kinds of steak available. Third, a lot of self-checkout available so no lines form compared to Aldi. Of course you need to bring your own bags but no quarters needed at Lidl. Chocolate, nuts, organic products, spices, produce and charcuterie items have better price points here compared to Shoprite or Stop and Shop. read more

Coronavirus Diary Day 64 - 5/17/2020 If you're not hung up on name brand products, Lidl can definitely save you a lot of money. This store was less crowded than others I've been to in Long Island. I usually get some snacks, pastries, sparkling water, and dairy products. A quart of Half & Half is only $1.55. I've got a pretty good deal on 2 12-packs of La Croix for $7. The best is that I finally found Escargots which cost only $3.99 for tray of dozen snails in shell. Their yogurt and dairy products are pretty good and cheap as well. It's all about trying new stuff, and if you like it, you keep it on your list. Lines at the registers were moving pretty quick. Don't forget to bring own bags! read more

I came here recently to buy a gift card, but ended up buying more lol! Lidl is a fairly new chain to come to the states. This is one of their newest stores! As soon as you walk in, the bakery is there in all the ones that I have been to so far. Their cookies and breads are fantastic! The store is huge! And very very clean! As well as an amazing selection of items. I really love their special finds of non food items. Its usually clothes, tools, organizers, household items, decorations, outside items. Think walmart, where WM focuses on everything but food and has a small section of food, Lidl focuses on food and has a decent selection of home goods. I picked up a few Christmas items that I crave every year from marzipan to cookies. All delicious! All in all a very nice location! Another Lidl? Count me in. I've visited a different location, but I was definitely impressed with how vast this store was. There's a great variety available for gluten-free and vegan shoppers, with an awesome frozen section. Lidl offers some unbeatable deals, especially for produce. Very solid shopping addition in the old Pathmark location. The store has a little bit of a Costco feel but it also has a lot of small supermarket experience if that makes sense. They have a lot of bulk items on the side of the store but the bakery for me is really appealing love those pretzels for $.50 and lots of decent baked good items not the greatest but not bad for a local place.Refrigerated section has a lot of items and good prices (hummus for $1.29). Produce is terrific bananas are $.39 a pound and there's a special on Clementine's $2.99 for a bag. Spices and beverages are well priced. Good meat and chicken area and frozen fish as well. Download app in advance and save five dollars on first purchase of $30 bucks plus the coupon to save five bucks more for next visit. read more

It's a cost effective supermarket experience. Great for probably 2/3rds of my shopping list, but not as big as your typical ShopRite, Wegmans, or Whole Foods so options are limited. More comparable to Trader Joe's for the size of the supermarket. Employees tend to be relatively happy which is nice. Lots of the Lidl branded items are pretty good and inexpensive. Fresh bakery items are really nice as well. The off brand orange juice was probably the only thing I really was disappointed with. read more

Great store with excellent customer service. Case in point; while doing my shopping I somehow, don't know how, lost my eyeglasses in the store. I immediately told the manager JR of store (Bergenfield). We both searched the store but to no avail. He took my number and a couple of days later he called to report that he had found them. A really nice addition to Bergenfield which has not had a supermarket for some time. While they have limited stock and choices they do have all the necessities. Their bakery is really good making fresh croissants and bread daily and for unheard of prices. Their meat department is outstanding serving up individually packaged steaks of great quality and always fresh. Their seafood is also excellent with salmon steaks served on a cedar plank, always fresh and reasonably priced. Looking for flowers? This place sells beautiful flowers so inexpensive you can buy a bouquet for everyone in your family and still have money left over for a snack. A fine addition to Bergenfield, just bring your own bags because they sell only paper bags for .07 cents each. read more

This location is amazing! It's brand new and super clean and well-organized. I noticed all of the employees were hard at work and very mindful of shoppers when stocking shelves. Very similar to Aldi, but better on most items. Imagine IKEA meets Walmart meets Aldi but with a little charm? No need to put a quarter for a cart and they have little carts here which is super helpful! Unbeatable prices and much better than Union location inventory wise. Less junk food than Aldi, but more frozen foods. Seafood and beef is very high quality, tons of imported items from Italy, France, Germany, Belgium and Indian. Lots of random junk items like sewing accessories etc Tons of chocolate SUPER cheap and amazing European quality. You can't go wrong here. I finally got to check out this place. I had to since I'm a fan of their cousin store Aldi. The place is very similar to Aldi except much bigger and more variety. Parking was easy and it's much less of a headache than ShopRite. ShopRite is definitely better, but if you want to avoid the crowds and headaches of ShopRite, this is a good place to go. They had 2 different shopping carts.... regular size ones and those tiny 2 level ones. Actually they have 4 kinds....they also had little ones for kids and wheelchair ones. The place is super clean and so were the restrooms. When you walk in, you are right in front of the bakery. This is definitely a nice thing they have that Aldi doesn't. Fantastic baked goods at fantastic prices. I only grabbed 2 pretzels though. Basically it's Aldi on steroids with at least 4 times of stuff available in each department (meats, sauces, seafood, condiments, paper products, etc). There is also a ton of name brand stuff. The prices on name brand stuff are higher than ShopRite prices when ShopRite has them on sale. Example: Lean Cuisine meals were $1.99 here but when they're on sale at ShopRite they can be as low as $1. Lidl brand stuff is very inexpensive just like Aldi. I bought 42 items and paid $70. This is including a family size package of chicken thighs, filet mignon, strip steak, and salmon. They have sales that are pretty good and if you download their app and/or sign up you get coupons and earn points! The biggest negative is their vegan frozen section. It's non-existent. Aldi has an amazing selection of vegan stuff. Overall I will continue to shop here when I don't want to deal with the masses at ShopRite or need packaged goods. i want all LIDL shoppers to be aware of their surroundings inside the store. i was shopping this afternoon at the store and I lost my wallet with my drivers license, my debit cards and credit card and health insurance card with few dollars on it. It looks like someone open my book bag and took my wallet. I realized that at one time I noticed that the zipper of my bag was open which I just ignored and didn't pay attention. When I was in line to the cashier, I can't find my wallet. I asked my husband to pay our grocery with his card. We found the supervisor and not satisfied with his assistance, he went to the lost and found area and came back to tell us there's none in there. I enquired about CCTV but was told had no access Into it. Useless CAMERA around! Asked about the manager but was told not present and he's the supervisor. Not even asked my name and telephone number to call me In case my wallet is found to let me know. After he disappeared, I felt dissatisfied with the result I decided to approach the other cashier to see the manager and was told that no manager was around and pointed us to the supervisor guy and I informed him that we're already approached the so called supervisor and felt not received proper assistance for he did not even asked for my name and telephone number so LIDL manager can call me for any update the next day. This cashier asked me for my name and telephone number after it was mentioned to him and he said he's going to give my info to the manager in the morning. LIDL shoppers as well as the pick pocketer/s be aware and be watchful, one day you'll be CAUGHT and you'll regret what you did and you're doing instead of saving money for shopping in this store, in return it gave me headache and I lost my documents. it's unsafe to shop in this place. LIDL management needs to make sure the shoppers are safe when shopping and the staffers are helpful. read more

Amazing Grocery Store! I am originally from Germany and it was nice seeing a Lidl open so close to us. The prices are very low but thE quality of all products is just great. We are used to shopping at Whole Foods but find this grocery store to be much more convenient and way cheaper for our everyday staples. The produce section has everything you need and we can find great products that we would spend more than double on at stores like Whole Foods. Love that they have even some vegan and vegetarian options in the frozen section! Always our first stop for groceries and household necessities! read more

I travel to Europe pretty frequently so I knew of both Aldi and Lidl. I was super excited when I discovered the opening of Lidl in the next town. Lidl has the cheapest organic milk price, cheaper than Costco but it's often all sold out. Great frozen seafood selection. I especially love their salt and pepper calamari and shrimps. Their in store baked country bread is pretty good for supermarket bread and love the slicing machine. I love their chocolate selection and quality for the price. Love household products at great prices. Love spices and their flowers and plants. Negatives are, almost all the cheeses I tried were pretty bad. I especially thought the sliced cheddar cheese tasted like plastic. Would never buy cheese again. Not too much meat selection. I do love their grass fed beef at excellent price. I do find some of Lidl brand quality a bit inferior to other supermarket such as Trader Joe's. Some of the examples are French brioche sliced bread, whipped cream (reddi whip equivalent), frozen French macarons, ice cream, cheeses, some snacks. Still, I have been going there at least once a week since it has opened and will continue to do so. I will know what to buy and what not to buy in a few months. read more

I was happy when I found that Lidl is coming to NJ. I know it from everywhere in Europe and I prefer this no-frills kind of store. Normally they don't have a wide variety of brands for the same item, but they have everything you need if the brand is not important for you. Unfortunately there is a huge difference between any Lidl in Europe and the one in Bergenfield, NJ. Not only that they miss many basic items, but it's more about how this store is organized (or better said, unorganized). Most of the times there is only one cashier attending all customers (including those who are self checking their items out) and eventually one staff member who puts the merchandise on shelves, while the others just stroll around in the store without doing anything. I normally go on Wednesday in the morning because this is the day when, theoretically, they bring new items on sale. But almost always they don't have the items in store. Whenever I ask the staff where I can find X or Y item, they tell me that they have it in the warehouse, but nobody goes to bring it in, even though they are not doing anything else. If I kindly ask them to bring the item from the warehouse, they look at me as I bother them; they go to bring it, but they never show up. I can't wait for half an hour until he will bring the organic milk that is not available on the shelf. Many times the shelves are empty. vcx 'Definitely, the manager is not able to organize the store efficiently. I love, love, love this store. All of the products I have tried are of outstanding quality. And, the prices are great. In a million years, I wouldn't have thought i could like frozen scallops. Well, the jumbos are so tasty, I feel like i am dining at a 5 star restaurant while eating them. The hickory smoked bacon, the frozen macarons, the soft butter (you have to try to see how that sea salt makes it oh so darn good. And the freshly baked walnut bread makes everything paired with it taste better. I could list more products, but i won't...The household items they carry are also of great quality at unbeatable prices. i purchased a cold greenhouse and love it. Beautiful new discount grocery store in Bergenfield. The prices are very low, yet the quality is very high. Most of the items are LIDL's own brand but the quality and taste of these products is very good. The store is relatively large for a discount grocer and has everything that one would need for most weeks. You can essentially do almost all of your grocery shopping here aside from a few specialty items. The one thing you must not forget is your own bags. You bag your own groceries and having reusable bags saves you from having to purchase a paper or plastic bag from the store. Overall, Lidl is a great grocery store for the community, and I hope they intend on opening many more in New Jersey. read more
