It IS trendy, in a hipster/Westside way -- it sort of seems like it's trying to be a seedy dive bar, but it's too popular for that (and the decor is too cool for a dive bar). They have good beer on tap, plenty of pizza options from Slice Girls downstairs, and good tunes. It's dark in here, and it's LOUD, so don't go here if you want to have a meaningful debate about the merits of Fauvist painting with your friend the art student. DO go here if you want a few bevvies with laid-back friends in a cool environment. I've been here a few times, mostly for drinking, but have also had the food. They have a couple of vegan options including a vegan pizza and a vegan share platter with breads and dips, all clearly marked on the menu. I had the vegan pizza ("Livin It Vegan It") with olives and mushrooms and basil. It was alright, but not super memorable. Mostly you're coming here for the vibe -- typical Melbourne warehouse-hidden-off-a-main-street setting, where the ground floor is a pizza place and you take the stairs to the actual bar area, which is a giant dimly-lit room, with lots of different seating areas available. Definitely come check it out for drinks if you're in the area, but don't come here necessarily for the food or ability to converse ;)

Then we step into the spacious rear beer garden and it transforms. A great layout and plenty of space (in part due to the lack of people). Inside it's been renovated with solid wooden bar tables and so much room and cozy spotz. Dance floor and band stage. Sunlit cubby complete with cushions. It's great! Staff are friendly. The limited menu is supremely well priced. Parmas from $10, desserts for a fiver. Drinks are cheap. Fat Yak on tap always makes me happy. The food came out super fast. It tasted good. It's not a gastropub but we hardly need more of them. The biggest shame is that more people don't know about it. Great for private parties. Excellent for a cheap feed a quick bevvie. Gotta love a beer garden. Get to it! All your friends will be impressed about your well hidden gem find!

YES.. that's $5 each..!! We made a day of it - Went to Scienceworks in Spotswood.. Had Lunch in Newport.. Saw a film at The Sun Theatre.. Finished off with Dinner at 'The Mersh'.. Yes, I agree.. from the outside it looks 'CLOSED' - that's part of it's charm, but when you get in - from the side car park gate - it's all good.. really good.. We ate in the beer garden - reminded me of a good rough inland country pub.. The 'tranny' posters on the inside walls.. so reminiscent of Oxford Street, Sydney.. It's a pretty eclectic place - I was enchanted by it... And there were quite a few eclectic diners - A good sign.. Staff are laid-back... whatever... all good... no probs... kinda people - really really liked this... We had our 'Mersh Parma' - not huge, but enjoyable.. Well cooked Parma, home-made Napoli Sauce, nice-tasting Mozzarella, crisp well-seasoned Steak Fries, well-dressed fresh Salad.. A good honest home-style meal.. Hey... what do you want for $5...!!! We had dessert: $5 each 2 x very large wedges HOME-MADE Apple Pie - Delish... 2 x very large slices HOME-MADE Raspberry Cheesecake - Very Delish... Drinks: $31 total 2 x jugs Lemon Squash 2 x pots VB Beer We will absolutely go again - my kind of 'really relaxed' place... Visited on Friday 9 October for Dinner with my family of four.

Actually, this was probably better than the bars because it is in here that you will discover beers that you simply will not find elsewhere, and that was certainly what happened to me. Yes, the beers were pretty awesome, though this place isn't all that big, and does get a little crowded. Still, I come here for the beers.

The turn to get here is very sudden, leaving no room for error. It's a good thing that U-turns are an easy fix. Hop Nation is located in a very industrial plot. It's a quaint, little, chill, no fuss set-up. Set amongst the warehouses, there's an open roller door which leads way to a craft brewery. Hop Nation defines all of the indie expectations that come with craft beer and it's nestled into Footscray. There's a few standing cocktail tables with high seats, then your eyes meet a quaint little bar. They have a few beers on tap, and popcorn for the munchies. Load up with your choices and find a seat, I'm sure you won't be in a hurry to get out of this brew bar. The best thing is that Hop Nation welcome outside food. That's a huge plus for a venue. And you will want food, cause you will be snuggling yourself in, trying out their beers. You have the option of bringing your own, or getting UberEats delivered. It's a cool spot perfect for a midday session. And the beers are spot on too.

Well, needless to say I decided to duck in and check it out, and to say that I was amazed is an absolute understatement. This place is gorgeous. Not only that but they have an amazing beer garden out the back, and also some pretty nice beers on tap. Okay, this isn't the only Footscray bar that I have visited, but it certainly ups the ante in the area.

I couldn't make it all the way home and I certainly couldn't make delicious food and I was by myself, what to do? Thank the gods who gave us Littlefoot. Gorgeous wee bar in the heart of Footscray, with the nicest staff who instantly make you feel welcome. But the clincher is the fabulous menu. It's weird to find yourself raving about a bar menu because they're normally so stock standard. But this menu is packed with such clever little items, with some lovely nods to the unique local cuisine in the 'scray. Tonight I chose off their specials menu and scored the most succulent little crumbed eggplant fritters. And the mini churros with salted caramel goodness. I must mention the injerra scrolls as I've had them before and they're a superb invention! Delicious! Nice and light, and very promptly served. The bar menu is also very good and any liquor snob will find something to their taste. I'm a tequila drinker and their range, while not extensive, is excellent quality. Topped off with great local beers on tap, a perfect spot for a few drinks with friends. Great to see this end of Footscray developing, and Littlefoot is setting an excellent standard.

It was very refreshing. Once you're inside you don't feel like you're in Yarraville! I am however confused at what is trying to be achieved here - the menu is a mix of asian, asian fusion and pub but the decor of the place is like old school/French/Italian/something! Put that aside and it's still a good place to meet up with friends and have a bite. Food was a bit of a wait I thought. Took about 30-40mins. We ordered chicken Parma and slow roasted pork belly. The Parma tastes like any Parma and the serving is huuuuge so it easily justifies the $22 price tag. The pork belly tasted nice but unfortch did not have the super crunchy skin that we all know and love. Come here if you're either if you're a devoted local or if you're in the area seeking out a drinking hole! And be warned - this ain't no cheap pub food place!
