I was hung-up on by the person answering the phone because I gave her a tax tip (business expenses can be deducted), and she went ballistic on me. The service you never, EVER want to use...but if you need it, man-oh-man are you glad they're around! Brought my 5-year-old in and they took care of all the vermin in under an hour, checked the whole family for free, were informative and professional and made the whole experience as painless as possible. They also provided a sheet on how to deal with our house that was VERY helpful- turns out we didn't have to take the full hazmat approach we'd prepped for. They also provide a free follow-up 3 - 5 days later to ensure all the critters are really and truly gone. I filled out a form on their website in order to make an appointment. I received a text message saying they had 10:45am openings the next day. Here we are at the Seattle location, and there is 1 person working and 5 other families who had 10:45am appointments. Needless to say their booking system is not efficient. The initial service was good, but 10 days later I found another lice in my daughter's hair, so I called to get her retreated with their 30 day guarantee. Their "guarantee" though, is weak. They do not completely retreat, but simply comb out the child's hair. And then, you need to pay $15 for each person if you want the family rechecked. Of course, you have to do that to have the guarantee continue for the next 20 days. So the guarantee is that they will recomb your child's hair and if you don't pay the $45 in our case, to have the family members checked, that's the end of your guarantee. read more

We have been to Lice Knowing You many times and they do a good job of getting rid of the lice. The appointment scheduling process however is an absolute nightmare. I don't write many reviews on Yelp but I want Lice Knowing You to understand that they need to change their appt scheduling process. I called early this week to get an appt for my daughter to be lice checked as she is going to sleepaway camp and I wanted to be 100% sure she did not have it. They couldn't accommodate an appt later than 2pm any day of the week but said that they could get her in later if I called the day of as they leave "emergency" appointments open. I called the day of as instructed but was told they only have appointments at 2pm that day and nothing else. So, it's a real joke when you can't schedule in advance and then when you try to schedule last minute they still don't have anything. Super frustrating experience. I will be going to another lice service from now on and will not be giving this place any more of my money. read more

I found lice on my 5 yr old daughter at 8:45pm on a Friday night. It was our first time, I never even had it myself as a kid, and I didn't know *what* to do. I called my co-worker, who has older kids, and she told me to call Lice Knowing You. I expected to get a answering machine but a very nice woman answered at almost 9pm and made us an appt for 9:45 the next morning. The technicians were very nice and matter-of-fact about the whole thing. Turns out I had it too, so my daughter and I spent over 4 hours there. My daughter had a serious case, they said she had had it for weeks. SO gross, and I was totally shocked as I had been washing and braiding her hair on a regular basis and had not seen it myself, but they told me about it in such a way as to not make me feel worse than I already did. It took 2 hours to clean my daughter's head and they were working on her consistently the entire time. They were incredibly thorough and got every last bug and nit off of her and me. I cannot imagine if I had tried to handle this myself. Also I am now armed with all their products and they gave me some great information so we can hopefully avoid this ever happening again. Yes, it is expensive, but if you can at all afford it, I would say to use this service rather than spend hours and likely still lots of money trying to eliminate lice on your own. I will tell everyone I know to go to LKY if they have the unfortunate luck to get lice in their family. It's a nice place, similar to a lot of the kid salons, but like somebody else said, bring some entertainment and snacks b/c if they find it you are going to be there a while. thank you thank you thank you LKY! read more

We have taken my daughter to Lice Knowing You three times in the past 6 years and each time we leave there, we feel 100% positive that we are lice free (at least until the next big slumber party:) The staff is always very professional and gives us great advice on how best to avoid getting lice in the future. We are almost always able to get in quickly and their pricing is much better than some of the other lice removal services we've found. Claudia, the manager, had recently helped me more than I can say with great tips and support. We recently tried another place for our daughter, spent over $500 and have felt totally taken advantage of. This other company also wanted to have her sleep with olive oil on her head every night for weeks. Lice Knowing you uses a much more effective, less messy and much faster method and guarantees their service. It is a very comfortable environment and we don't feel stressed when we arrive. Vicki and Ana treated my two kids, my visiting father and myself. We were all lice virgins. I tried using Nix the night we found out we had it and I just knew it wasn't thorough enough. The best thing is that LKN is all natural so you could treat daily if you had to. I submitted online a request for an appt at 11pm and they called at 9:20 on saturday morning. They got all four of us in and Vicki and Ana were amazing. They gave us all the info we needed to prevent reinfestation and the piece of mind is wonderful. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the price. It is a little over priced, but after spending almost $400 on lice supplies like RID & NIX that wouldn't finish the job...we broke down and spent another $220 here. Thankfully they are awesome and we finally tackled the lice nightmare that we'd been struggling with for months. They were quick and thorough. I was amazed at how quickly they were able to do my oldest daughter's hair. She has very thick hair that's down to her waist and they did it in about an hour and we had no return of the lice. I spent about 4 hours combing my daughter's hair with the usual brands and still seemed to have them return. So if you're considering going here, just do it, don't waste your time and money trying to do it yourself...unless you just go and by the lice stuff from this place and do it yourself...the stuff they use is WAAAAY better and much better for you too!! My initial appointment was wonderful. The gals were so nice and made us feel comfortable. I came in for a check and they were able to treat me immediately and after I was done drove from Fremont to Mill Creek to pick my kids up from school and bring them right back to be treated. Luckily I did not have to work that Friday. That is the only time they are convenient, to get your money. I know it is expensive, about $450 for 3 of us with a bottle of shampoo, conditioner, and "lice" wipes. The guarantee is a joke!!!! You have to come back day 3,4 or 5. REASONABLE. Can only go to salon you used for treatment. NOT REASONABLE. As I mentioned I live in Mill Creek, which there location was not open, so had to be treated in Fremont. And they will ONLY do final checks (which you need to validate the guarantee) Mon-Fri form 9:00am to 11:00am. ONLY, NO EXCEPTIONS. Unless......you pay an extra $25. I fell that is taking advantage of people in a vulnerable position. I had to borrow money to pay for the initial treatment and have to work so taking time off work to take my kids out of school to drive 40 minutes (with no traffic) for a 10 minute check, back 40 miles to school, and then back to Seattle where I work. It is frustrating, I paid a lot of money and I am not complaining about the initial treatment. I just feel after they got your money, they are in no way accomodating to the working class mother. read more

The technicians doing the actual work are very kind and seemed to have done a good job BUT the phone schedulers are straight up rude. When I called no one answered (which would have been fine - they could have simply called back). Instead they texted me multiple times and the tone became increasingly passive aggressive. I asked for a call instead and they would not call just kept texting which I found quite unprofessional. Furthermore hey require the whole family to be checked to get the 30 day guarantee but the person texting basically could not accommodate us at any time. Eventually I called back the next day and spoke to someone else on the phone and they were able to accommodate with some pleading on my end. To summarize the quality of the actual work was fine but the WORST customer service for a business that is intended to serve families. read more

My three sisters and I and Our mom all went to LKY today cause some family friends found lice in there kids hair! Ended up four of us had it and got treated!! And it was horrible they were rude from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out! They were not gentle at all she cut my scalp and didn't even say anything till I went to the bathroom and saw blood dripping down my head! they were so rough on my sister it made her throw up. If this is how they are with 23, 19, 17 and 13 yr old I hate to think how they are with small kids! I do NOT recommend them it was absolutely awful!! read more

My son had lice which we were able to take care of with home treatment, and then he took off for 4 weeks of camp (we know he was clear because he was checked at camp upon arrival with all campers). BUT, I discovered that he had given it to me, and I struggled with my long hair making sure I could get rid of it all while he was gone. So, after a couple of weeks of trying I decided to buck up and go to Lice Knowing You. I would not go back for the following reasons: 1 - Trying to make appmt was difficult, didn't answer phone/got vm with no return call. So, I called again the next day and was put on hold for over five minutes, and hung up. Finally, I called again and was able to schedule appmt. 2 - At the appmt, the employees were not very customer service oriented or warm (which would have been nice given that people who have lice are feeling icky and desperate to get them cleared), but I guess that would have been okay without these other issues.... 3 - They say they charge in 15 minute increments but altogether my treatment was 45 minutes (including the prep waiting time) and I was still charged for one hour, but I paid it and tipped as well. 3 - They give a 30 day guarantee, which I felt good about. To qualify, you have to come back for a lice check within 3-5 days. During that time I am SURE I found lice (and even brought them in for "proof" which they require), but they told me that those little black things coming out of my hair weren't lice (without even using a magnifying glass). In my check, they said that I was lice free and that "everyone has little black things in their hair." Of course I want to believe them but I know I still have lice. MOST OF ALL, they say that my 30 day guarantee doesn't apply because they didn't treat my kids. Well, my kids were lice free before they went to camp for 4 weeks (and still haven't returned home during my treatment), so there is no way that I would have lice because of getting exposed to them. I told the people at the original appmt that my kids were gone, and no one mentioned anything about the guarantee not applying because they didn't treat my kids. I guess I shouldn't have mentioned that I even have kids. Altogether it was a disappointing experience. If I ever need these services in the future, I will not return to Lice Knowing You. read more

We've been to Lice Knowing You twice in the last year. Both times the customer service was awesome and they did a great job! I really love that the products they use are non-toxic and don't contain the nasty chemicals the self-treat products do. They also have an awesome play area to keep the little guy busy while my oldest was being treated. Hopefully, we'll never have to come back, but if one of my guys gets lice again, I won't hesitate to return. read more

Like the previous reviewer stated, you really don't ever WANT to use this service, but sooooo glad they are around! I went in for a check of my 7-year old who was complaining of an itchy scalp. I checked her on my own, but wasn't sure enough, so figured I'd pay the $15 for LKY to tell me she was fine...of course, she had a full-on infestation and according to the folks there, she had contracted it two weeks (or more!) ago... her older sister and I were also checked, and turns out we had it too! As a family, we spent over 3 hours getting combed through - a process that would have taken at least 3 times as long if I did it, plus, I have no idea how I could have fully combed through my own hair, and I would have always doubted I got all those nasty nits if my inexperienced hands were doing it. I also liked how the two lice checkers (don't know what you call these fabulous women who really know everything about lice and help eased my anxiety!) checked each other's work. We have enough education and experience now to hopefully avoid getting it in the future. One bit of advice, the room is very sparse and if you are going to be spending some serious time there with young-uns, I recommend bringing water/snacks and toys/drawing/games to occupy them. There is a Big Screen TV, but the novelty of TV wore off quickly for my kids after some time. Yes its expensive, but totally worth the peace of mind of being lice free and hopefully staying that way! read more

If you like rude service then this is the place for you. I scheduled an appointment for my daughter and upon arriving we were attended to right on time. Then they sprayed my daughter's hair and we sat for 15 minutes while they helped someone else out, then another 15 minutes while they helped someone else out and then another 15 minutes while someone else was attended to. So my daughters appointment started 45 minutes after it was scheduled. I realize this happens but when they tell me if I am 5 minutes late there will be a $25 charge I would expect them to be more punctual. Next I asked if I could watch. The lady tokd me I had to stand "over there" pointing 15 feet away, then proceded to mutter. "It's the same hair, the same lice, and all I'm doing is coming it., just like you did. At this point I still had a little sympathy for her, after all she does this all day, which must be an awful job. So I watched for a moment and then went back to the waiting room. later another lady started combing my daughter's hair and the grumpy one switched to a new victim. She then proceeded to roll her eyes while making a 5 year old cry painfully while she agressively combed her hair. When the grumpy one had enough crying they switched again and my daughter said I don't want you the other one does it so it doesn't hurt. The grumpy one spent the next five minutes lecturing my daughter on behavior- apparently she not only combs lice for a living but is also a child psychologist- what a talented lady. So in the end my daughter's hair was combed for about 35 mintues and I was charged for an hour. I guess at least some of that time in the waiting room counts as "treatment." In the end I'd like to say you get back what you put out and if what you put out is rude and condescending behavior then maybe you deserve to comb lice for a living. read more
