I don't know what it is about hidden rooms, and their mystery and feeling of exclusivity that just speaks to the inner kid in me. But that fact that when I got to The Grand Moon Palace with my friends, who had previously been here, and them telling me of this secret bar. Hidden within the walls of one The Grand's main hallways, and is made to look like a library shelf from the outside. Had me wanting to see this place for myself; and walking past it and not knowing yet what was actually held inside. Only further sparked my interest.
So as mentioned, from the outside the Library Bar would appear to only be a ceiling high shelf of books. But as you go to make your way in you notice the shelves, are actually two doors that can be pulled opened, to reveal a smaller staging type room. Where a staff member is usually there to greet you and will open the 2nd set of doors revealing the inside of the Library, which is in stark contrast to our hallway area outside. The Library has a small 50's Jazz club type of vibe to it, with lights dimly lit, seating primarily along with walls, full length bar to the right side of the room, paintings of worldly locations all along the walls, and a live band adorned in the back area.
We went here twice during my last trip to The Grand Moon Palace TGMP, the first of which we sat in the back area near the band. We had a few drinks between myself and my group, to include of of their smoked drinks which was pretty good. The 2nd night we came here we order some snacks and drinks to include one of the top shelf Tequilas (Clase Azul 15th Anniversary Edition). And after being served our waitress did the customary ringing of the bell on top of the bottle.
OVERALL: Great experience and vibe, and wonderful and friendly staff. read more
