The ginger isn't too sharp when you bite into it since it's been candied, and the earl grey chocolate bonbon (which I wanted to try since I saw it online) was sold out individually but still sold in the five flavor sampler. The jasmine tea white chocolate rose was also delicious and the tea flavor was surprisingly rich. It's not cheap but it's well worth a nice gift for yourself or someone else!

They even sold kits to let you make your own Halloween candy themed charcuterie board which was such a cute idea and we loved getting to put together. I spoke with the owner and they visit local events and set up but you can also hire them for parties or gatherings and they bring their truck and set up a mobile candy bar. I got inspired by watching youtube to make a jambon buerre sandwich - supposedly a popular quick sandwich for Parisians. The sandwich is half a baguette with butter and French bistro ham. I tried searching all over for the French bistro ham with no luck. The only options were online sources with expensive shipping and/or expensive minimum order sizes. Somehow I stumbled upon MA-France nearby in Arlington and they sell jambon-buerre sandwiches. It's a small shop that sells sandwiches, pastries, and a small offering of French food products. Lots of pastries and baked goods like quiche, tarts, cookies, croissants, etc. The cheese offerings were very limited and basic. I can imagine that the cheeses that they sell are the same types and brands that they use for making sandwiches. For example, they sell President brand Brie - that you can also buy at Costco and market basket. Disappointing, but understandable because they can't afford to buy more variety and more expensive offerings without a big enough client base to buy those cheeses before they go bad. Getting back to the sandwich - it was half a baguette with some thick slices of butter and two pieces of French bistro ham. The bread was kind of dense and the crust was more chewy than crispy. I was disappointed that they didn't bother to spread the butter, but if they're not selling enough sandwiches then they're probably keeping the butter in the refrigerator - making it too difficult to spread. When I got home I fixed up the sandwich to my liking. Overall, the sandwich was okay, but not good enough to make me want to go back. At least I was able to solve my hunger for the jambon buerre sandwich.

Now it's quite underwhelming. The apricot croissant is now some smaller glorified danish that has no richness or personality. The plain croissant is quite "bready" now, whereas it used to be light and buttery. I have a sneaking suspicion that they have a different croissant supplier now. What saved this spot from a lower grade is that the pain au raisin and chausson aux pommes are passable. Also a save is that they still offer various French products, from soaps to cheeses to canned goods. I have to find a new French bakery in the area.

Now they have canceled that option ...no phone calls accepted/returned new policy! I made 5-6 efforts yesterday to place an order and the computer program just will not accept the information and keeps stating that I need "To follow the format,..." which I thought I was doing. I wrote to their website/email and no response. I would just forget Fastachi totally at this point, never attempt to order again, however I had discussed some options with a client who chose to receive treats from them. I don't understand why I cannot simply order online and have it go through. It has never been a possibility for me over perhaps five years trying yo order online. Never had such a problem with other vendors! They even identify on the website the l item I want, which is a variety of chocolate bark as requested by my client. But, when I double click on it, I get all the chocolate treats and I cannot find the bark. I'm very very disappointed and not sure how I will handle this. Such inconvenience and lack of customer support. They apparently have expanded their services to other stores and have what looks like a large corporate clientele. I cannot understand why they no longer accept phone calls when their system to place orders just does not work! I would love help with this particularly for this one situation and then I wouldn't bother them again and not purchase their wonderful treats as gifts. Presume the quality of the gift will be nice as usual but the staff member acted as if she had better things to do. (It was not busy at the shop, only one other customer who was being taken care of), almost asked her if she was okay, came close to walking away without completing the order. Clearly, she dislikes her job and isn't interested in customer service. It's a bad look for Fastachi. We all have bad days but this person had a serious disregard for doing her job. Makes one hesitate to return.

There was no one behind me and I wasn't fully sure what kind my friends would want. I wanted to peruse some. I was in and out in about 5 minutes, but the woman behind the counter seemed bothered that I was asking questions about the muffins like the flavors. The display case doesn't have them listed by the muffins. There's a flavor board behind the counter which is helpful, but it would be better if they were each labeled somewhat so you could see and pick them. I asked 2 questions overall and panicked and just picked 2 other flavors hoping they would be okay, but it wasn't as good of an experience as last month and left me a bit flustered. I'm never expecting over the top super happy, springy first thing in the morning but rolling your eyes and acting exhausted from 2 questions just seemed like a bit much for a happy and bright muffin spot.
