It's...Kwik Trip…read more They have gas. They have beer. They have mildly overpriced food (a trade-off for the convenient parking). If you're here for fine dining, please seek help. You are clearly unwell and deserving of medications. You go in, you get whatever they got that looks appealing, you throw it on the counter. The cashier scans it. You pay for it. You leave. Hopefully with a minimum of fuss, line waiting, and conversation. We all know the drill by now. It is what it is. If you're giving it less than five stars for being anything other that what it is, that's a you-problem, because this is just what Kwik Trip does. Doesn't matter which one you go to. They're all the same. --However, when you find one of their frosted Persian doughnuts, and some kind soul has over-frosted that beast--there may not be anything finer on this planet. I am trying to avoid sugar as best I can, but if I see one of those Persians, and it's HEAPED with frosting, I will always, ALWAYS buy it. Those are my true Kwik Trip weakness. Everything else I can usually ignore, but those over-frosted Persians break me every time.

This is my go-to kwik trip, and gas station in general, as it's only a block from my house. The…read morepumps can get pretty busy around 5-7pm when people are coming home from work. The car wash is also pretty backed up during lunch hours and later at night. The connivence store inside is always fully stocked and their hot items are cheap and pretty good. There's a krispy kreme self-serve station is always stoked in the morning but later at night it is kind of hit or miss on what kinds they have. They always have deals toward the end of the night of packs of donuts that are close to expiring!

I went to this pharmacy yesterday to transfer a prescription, after a bad experience at another…read moreWalgreens in town (I reviewed them separately, right before this one). I was a little peevish when I got there but needed to get it done (I touched some wild mustard and have an appalling rash; I needed more ointment!). My only complaint about this pharmacy was that there was no obvious drop-off place. I stood by the cash registers and waited there, as I didn't want to clog up the consult window (which is shielded nicely for privacy). After about 45 seconds a pharmacist walked over (Pete!). I gave him my tube of ointment to check the price. At this point I became a blathering idiot, as I was unsure of my insurance status (in my defense, it has changed twice in the last year) and then not sure if I even had my card on me. The pharmacist was very patient and calm with me, despite my stupidity. They transferred and filled my prescription within ten minutes (completely acceptable), and I was good to go. I have been to this store before. Everybody that works there does a perfectly fine job. I only wish it were open 24 hours.

I never get it filled on the day promised for some reason or another. Additionally, you can never get anyone on the phone to sort things out. When you do get someone, it's not without extreme effort, and you're met with terribly rude individuals. Luckily there are other options for my regular prescriptions, Amazon is fantastic and I get refills without hassle, and on the proper schedule.

I only go here because it's 24 hours, and strangely enough I always need my drugs at the most…read moreinconvenient times! I have been a slave to this particular Walgreens for about 9 years now. As with any retail business, employees come and go rather quickly. That is, except for the elderly lady at the front check out. She's been there for 10 years, she told me so. It's completely hit or miss with customer service. Sometimes they are quick, other times you want to lay down and take a nap. However............ At approximately 9 pm every night, things start to get cray cray up in here. All the teenagers with lengthy juvenile records descend upon the place. I would describe it as "hoards" of unruly, thieving teenagers. A handful of them distract staff, while the others steal as much as they can. All this time I've managed to avoid them, except for once. That was when I made the unfortunate mistake of choosing the wrong aisle to walk down. I walked past a teenage female, as I did, I looked in the opposite direction as not to attract any unwanted attention. Yeah, that didn't work. She bellowed out at me "hey you white cracka, what the F--k you lookin' at? I will beat yo ass!" Bewildered, I kept walking and did not respond. Let me break it down for ya. People don't look at me and think "there is a dangerous beeotch that I need to take down." They look at me and say "there is a frumpy, midwest mom. Hide the powdered doughnuts." Maybe I'm just flattering myself, maybe she was talking to someone else, (not that I could see) and maybe I nearly got jacked. Either way, I don't actually go in the store after 9 pm anymore unless I want to live dangerously. That being said, I still need my drugs! Glorious drugs! So instead I sit in the drive thru for 30 minutes with all the other people who need scripts but don't want to chance going inside.

I am absolutely stunned by how I was treated at the Walgreens pharmacy drive-through on Davison…read moreDrive tonight. It was approximately 10 PM. I had just finished a 13-hour workday and was trying to pick up an essential medication for my child that should have been ready yesterday. He needs this medication tonight in order to function at school tomorrow. I was told that the prescription was not ready. I understood that things can get backed up, and I simply asked the pharmacist for an estimate of when it might be ready so I would know whether to wait nearby or come back through the drive-through. He refused to give me even an approximate timeframe and told me I needed to leave the pharmacy line. There was no one behind me, so I said, "Sir, there's no one behind me. Can you please just give me an idea of when I should come back around?" I was then told to stop talking, and the pharmacist threatened to call the police. I cannot adequately express how upsetting and bewildering this interaction was. I wasn't demanding that the prescription be filled immediately. I wasn't asking to cut ahead of anyone. I was simply a tired parent trying to determine when I could obtain my child's medication so I could get him what he needed and finally go home. I am also an experienced emergency medicine and urgent care provider. I understand how stressful healthcare can be. I understand understaffing, difficult shifts, competing priorities, and frustrated patients. I have tremendous respect for pharmacists and pharmacy staff and the pressures they work under. But none of those pressures justify speaking to a patient or parent this way. What concerns me most is this: if I--a healthcare professional who understands the system and is comfortable advocating for my child--was spoken to this way simply for asking when his medication might be ready, how are patients who are elderly, frightened, medically vulnerable, or uncomfortable advocating for themselves being treated? Being told to "stop talking" and threatened with police involvement for asking a reasonable question about my child's prescription was completely unacceptable. Walgreens leadership should review this interaction. Patients deserve basic dignity and respectful communication, even on busy and difficult nights.

What I will begin to say about El Primo is they are a hard working family owned hole in the wall…read morethat Sun Prairie should be grateful they operate there. I see plenty of cops, firemen, and paramedics going here for their lunches. Quesadillas - I have no idea what cheese they put in them, but you get that, guac, and amazing meat. I always go asada but the quesadilla size is absolutely fair for the price and pairs amazing with both their salsa verde and Rojo. The cooks are always working hard and for the bulk they get, the portions are always over stuffed. Now let's talk about those burritos, ... if you have never had Al Pastor, get Al Pastor. It seasons the already seasoned rice and soaks into the burrito perfectly with out the damn sogginess. They wrap it better than chipotle and that damn thing is so stuffed you honestly say "I only paid this much?!" Pair it with the Salsa rojo with each bite and you'll be hooked. They do come with sour cream, "crema", I always say no crema. It ruins the flavor profile of the Al Pastor. Alright, now the thing you were wanting to know, tacos. Authentic. Cantina. Flat top grilled meat and tortillas (yes they heat them on the flat top as the meat and oil. Tortillas are typical maize but I am a harina Chico myself (that's flour boy for you plebeians, just kidding but it's good to note that if you prefer it tell them "Puedo tener tortillas de harina" because I believe you should make the effort to learn someone's language if you're going to partake in their culture and food. These are hard working and sincere people! You may ask now, "okay dude but what meat should I get?" Honestly, you'll never go wrong with Asada but the Lomo de res (rib eye) is soooo rich and so good! Always tell them to put everything on the taco "con todo" (cilantro and onion) grab a lot of salsa and enjoy. We usually get a side of Pico de Gallo which they can do, as well as some Jarritos. The Pico is for the tacos. Look I can go on and on and on about this place but honestly until you go, you will either say "this guy is smoking crack" or "damn he is 100% right" as a former Los Angelino, again, Sun Prairie should be thanking El Primo from breaking up the monotony of "bar and grill" that Wisconsin as a whole has too much of.
