Those that don't usually have a sign that say no animals. This store does not have any such sign and I decided to bring my dog in with me just to look around. He's very well behaved and was on a leash. The lady at the front counter did give me a greeting as I came in but said nothing about my dog or any no pet policy. After I passed her and was no more than 15 feet into the store, I heard her ask her coworker, quit loudly enough so that I could hear, " What happened to our no pet signs that used to be out front?" Why be so caddy to make comments behind my back instead of just telling me I'd sorry we don't allow dogs in the store? I would have gladly returned my dog to my truck and come back in for my purchases, instead I just took my dog and we left.

Some places grab your soul from the moment you pull off the highway -- Kootenai Falls is exactly…read moreone of them. I rolled through here expecting a nice view, and got full-on nature theatre. The hike isn't brutal -- about half-a-mile from the road to the bridge or viewpoint, with picnic tables and restrooms at the lot. Enough challenge to feel good, not so much that it kills your afternoon. The trail that leads upstream to the main falls is short but dramatic: water rushing over rock terraces, multiple drops, including a 30-foot fall seen from the overlook. Downstream you cross that swinging bridge -- it creaks, it sways above the green Kootenai water, and it gives you a rush just standing there. Accessible but wild feeling: old railroad overpass, rocky descent sections, metal stairs, forest canopy, birds, moss -- all the good stuff. I went there in early summer; the river was high, mist in air, sun breaking through trees. The light hits the falls just right at golden hour -- reflections everywhere, water sparkle, shadows dancing. Ambience is pure Montana: no loud crowds, mostly locals, forest smells, river roar, the rustle of pine needles. Parking isn't fancy, but it's clean; restrooms are basic. Picnic area shaded, with enough space to sit, eat, soak it all in. Final take: 5 stars, no doubt. Probably one of those places I'll revisit again and again just to feel that rushing water, that bridge sway, that "whoa" moment when you turn the corner and see the falls looming. If you're in this part of Montana -- don't pass it by.

We had a great experience with Kootenai Float Company. We used their outdoor equipment twice within…read morethe week. The store itself is well equipped with supplies to purchase that you may need for several outdoor activities. We rented E-bikes the first day. Upon arrival, the owner walked us through the instructions as most of us had not previously been on an E-bike. He handed us helmets and had each of us do a little test ride in the parking lot. The bikes had an approximate 75 mile range on the batteries. We took off from the store and there were several paths in Libby we could choose to ride. The E-bikes definitely helped us navigate the beautiful hills of Libby! The 2nd time we used Kootenai Float Company was rafting down the Kootenai River. They supplied a 6 person raft, paddles, life jackets and dropped the raft off at the launch point and picked it up after the float. We had such a fun time participating in both of these activities!
