Their tool selection is excellent, from yard maintenance to electrical, plumbing, boats, you name it, and also have a good selection of quality work clothes and accessories, mostly Carhartt and Dickies. It's the first place I've seen since childhood that sells nails and screws by the pound. The staff are friendly and extremely knowledgable and not afraid to tell you whether your own hairbrained schemes are going to work. While I've left disappointed for not finding what I was looking for, they've spared me a good deal of heartache from finding out on my own that my notions weren't likely to succeed, most recently in trying to find a cap for the lower spout on my water hauling tank. They also routinely have some of the cheapest gas prices in town. I usually try to fill up down in CDA when I'm down there for work as it's often 20-40 cents cheaper than Sandpoint or Bonner's Ferry, but if I'm not heading down that way, this is where I go to fuel up. More than anything, I like that this place brings that small town Hardware store feel, but packs it with big box store level selection and service. It seems like a very happy marriage between two very opposite ideas. Highly recommended!

I was looking to buy a Tikka t3x, Vortex scope and scope rings for my son's 10th birthday. I knew exactly what I wanted and was trying to put the entire package together. From what I could tell there were four men working the gun counter. At times, two men working on the same paperwork. A total of two customers when I walked in. All 4 employees grumbling about what they were doing. Not one even did so much as make eye contact with me for the entire 34 minutes I stood there. I picked out a scope base and scope rings. I left the scope rings and bass on the counter right over top of the scope I had wanted to purchase. I've never had a worse experience at a business in my entire life. There's no excuses for not even acknowledging someone's presence. I've bought many guns and spent a ton of money at North 40 but won't be in the future. North 40s prices are great and I thought I'd give my business to a brick and mortar versus ordering online. With what I experienced today I'm convinced Midway USA will get me my product quicker. Absolutely pitiful customer service.

So I went sat opened a account and made the purchase. Two months later after I entered into a auto pay agreement Tractor Supply went into my bank account and started taking 3 & 4 times the payment amount I had setup! I called to complain and after they had made me tell the story 4 times I'm getting irritated they pass me over to some guy for me to tell it again so I went to my bank account and used my balance transfer I told this rude guy I'm paying off my account with Tractor Supply, without him saying anything he cancelled my account. One month later I was going through my banking I found out my perfect credit @ 760 was reduced to 640 because Tractor Supply had hit me with late fees, when they closed my account my balance transfer never went finished the payoff . Tractor Supply is still sticking it to me 3 months later with late fees my balance transfer is waiting for TSC to accept but they will not because my account was closed. DO NOT LET THEM SUCK YOU INTO THEIR SCAMS OF FINANCING!

So I did. The message I got when I called was "leave a message". There were people inside by the cars parked there. They were obviously open, but doors locked. So naturally, I knocked on the door (being the call for an appointment was "leave a message," and I'm already parked right there). Eventually, a guy comes out, rudy pushes the door open, and walks past me. I thought, wow! This guy is a mad customer or something. I'm just staring at him, asking myself what was that was all about. The guy stops about 10 feet away from me, spins around (never once looking at me in the eye), and says, "we talk out here!". "Didn't you read the sign to call?" I told him I DID call and got an I call you back message, and I thought if I knocked, I would get to speak to someone, even if 6' away. I was inquiring about what equipment they had for sale. I felt like an idiot and like a child being scolded. Yikes. Hmm. I am not returning there for another round of that!

So, while waiting for my better half and her doctor's appointment, I decided to stop in. WOW!! What a place! Back in Texas we have farm & ranch stores all over. North 40 has all that I've been missing from home and more! Clothes, tack, feed, meat processing supplies, camping supplies.... LOVE IT! I found all my sausage making supplies I use and equipment I want. The staff are friendly enough. The place is open and bright with great country music playing overhead. Prices are just a little higher than I'm used to seeing, but I guess I need to get used to that up here. Oh, I'm going to be a regular for sure.
