It has been over 12 years since my last real interview and creating my resume. Two page resume to add up your career is just impossible and it has to be summarized instead?! Times sure are different these days and companies are driven by younger minds and people. LHH has helped me to realize what was needed to market myself in these day in age. LHH sent over 5000 job leads in each single notification but could not filter the cities selected or the preferred companies requested; over 95% of the leads are job agencies wanting your commissions. I got 3 months of outsource services from my previous employer after being separated from the company. LHH is Absolutely Horrible. First off, their way of streamlining the timeframe of getting a job is not realistic. The information on the website is overwhelming. After the branding, fixing the resume over 6 times!, and trying my best to network, I still do not have one interview or a job. It's ONLY about the resume with them, THAT'S IT! The worst part was the Career Coach I was assigned to. UNREALISTIC, NOT EMPATHETIC, AND NOT HELPFUL! The Career Coach needs to listen to their clients, ease the information, and not just leave them high and dry after working on their resume. The Career Coach left me discouraged and stressed. I've got 6 months of LHH "services" after being laid off by the current company. How useful are they? Close to zero, actually. Their website is full of bullshit videos I'm supposed to watch - ranging from "look how helpful LHH is" to "mindfulness and meditation in the job search process" to "your job search is your full-time job". Total and complete waste of time. Their personal consultant spends almost zero time with me. She promised and promised to edit my resume - and did nothing, actually. Zero help. Zero value. I have not recieved very much help from LHH. My company laid me off and hired LHH to help wiht my transition, but they have NOT been very helpful. Hardly any contact, no counselor contacting me, one rep updated rsume and did little to help with branding, and when i sent my revised resume to other sites, they said it was not adequate for the ATS system, so much for LHH's help revising resumes. Very frustrating process. I was assigned a coach and asked him to schedule a call time with me. He would call at 5PM on Friday, leave a message - then no response to my emails. I was restructured out of my job, and my former employee paid LHH for their services to help those of us that were laid-off. I don't get LHH. I've worked with them on two occasions and each time they provided nothing of value. Don't get me wrong, some of the people are very nice and caring, but without providing real connections to top recruiters, well, the more senior you are, the less you need virtual "networking" sessions, resume coaching, or interviewing tips. I'd never in a million years pay $900/month for this service, not even $90/month. Their "virtual assistant" does little more than collect job listings from Indeed, LINKEDIN, and other places you can find for free. Hey, all power to them. They have a lot of contracts with corporations who lay off people and want to lessen the blow by providing "counseling", but in the final analysis, they can't easily be measured on success or failure. You can do better by hiring any one of a number of resume review companies who really can spruce up your resume, and start hitting the phones and emails to you're networking contacts you've formed over the years. I showed my resume once in 40 years of working (first job), every other job (I've been a CTO and a global manager) has come through my own connections and referrals. They deserve to make a buck, but do they help you get jobs? It doesn't seem so. If you like kumbaya mutual admiration meetings, go for it. But your time would be better spent on Google and with accomplished recruiters if you have the chops to get hired. read more

Like many have already said, LHH is not a true "outplacement" service. They provide no recruitment or job sourcing services on your behalf. Instead, they do their best to provide education and training on how to improve your resume and interview skills, how to network, and how to use Linked In. When my former employer included this service as part of the severance package, I was happy to receive the help - however, it wasn't what I expected. An outplacement service ideally would partner proactively with candidates to source jobs that matched their skill sets, present them to employers, and arrange for interviews. But I quickly learned that this is not the type of service they provide. For that reason, I think they should be more transparent about what they truly offer - career coaching, not job placement. read more

That is the only reason why I am reviewing, because I do not believe them. My advisor, counselor, whatever they're called, did nothing for me. I was pulling teeth for a meeting. He did not call once or follow up not to mention review my LinkedIn profile or give any feedback. In fact, like Muxa said, they were OOO more than available. If you are paying out of pocket, do not waste your money. The benefit was some of the webinars and online information, which you can find online for free with a little research. I got tons of emails from LHH at the beginning "come, join us" and once I did .... crickets. When I called to find out about more info, I got a run around saying that they are waiting for my company to get back to them. I am sure my company is paying good money for this service. What a complete waste of time. This "service" is a sham. I am two weeks from the end of my time with LHH and I have had only one introductory call with a "career coach". They first set me up with someone 1200 miles away, then that person said she was going to be gone for 10 days. Just before our second meeting she emailed to say that I was being assigned someone else in my local area. That person called on Tuesday to say she was busy and would either reach out later that day or later in the week (Thursday). That didn't happen. I did speak with the branding person and she was good, but I was only allowed one thirty minute meeting with her based on the plan my employer purchased. I received this service as part of a severance package from my old employer, definitely wouldn't have spent my own money on this. I had 60 days from the day I was notified that I'd be laid off until my termination date, so I contacted LHH within a week or so as I wanted to start searching and have a job lined up. My assigned coach Mary Bennett told me that I should have waited to activate my account until after my termination date (since I wouldn't be able to start working until then), but I said that I wanted help with updating my resume & interview practice so I would be prepared. She then said she would try to suspend my account until my termination date and reactivate it because I "wouldn't be able to use the program's full potential" until then. In the meantime, she said I needed to schedule our first meeting, which seemed odd if she was going to suspend my account but I figured couldn't hurt. Drove about an hour in traffic to get there, only to have her tell me that everything I wanted help with could be found online. I asked if she could look over my resume, she said I had to submit it online and the team would go over it. I asked about interview practice and preparation, she said there would seminars I could register for online through their website. So what was the point of having a meeting in person? At the end of our meeting she let me know that she would be on vacation for the next week and that she would follow up with me when she got back. It took a month and a half to receive my first follow up call (she left a voicemail). I already had a new job at that point (no thanks to LHH) so I didn't even bother responding. They obviously don't actually care about their clients if they take over a month to follow up. Now today I received an email saying that my program will be ending in 13 days, so she never even attempted to suspend my account. What a waste of time. So glad I didn't pay for this. read more

LHH is one of those places you either are really, really delighted to be working with, or there because you need to be (i.e. in the job market and not searching from the comfy cubice of your current gig); I found myself in the latter position, though though a guilty corporate conscience, the former boss was footing the bill. Nicely apportioned offices, a few classrooms (to highlight resume skills, job search techniques, interviewing courses, etc.), offices for the personal coaches who work with you (at least in our outplacement engagement's case), and some crash cubes if you need a place to get away from home or whatever and do your searchin' in a quiet place. (Since LHH is 40 miles door to door, I've found nearer quiet niches.) They do offer a web site to their clients which (at least in my case); has a myriad of corporate profiles, job search tools, templates to prep for opening and exit statements during interviews, etc. Nice folks all told, but perhaps not a secret to those in the job search -- 80%+ of them new jobs folks find are through networking, not through such services. But for that minority percentage, it's not bad. read more

Don't waste your time or money. Two days of boring, repetitive junk that you could have found in the public library for free. The counselors there could care less about their clients and made no attempt to conceal it. They wouldn't even help us revise or upgrade our resumes. The mantra there was "We are an outplacement service. We don't find you jobs. You find your own." And they repeated this several times throughout the day for two days. We have discussed all aspects of my career transition and he has given me detailed feedback and suggestions on my resume and LinkedIn profile. In addition, Bob has a wealth of information on all things career related and he has been very generous with helping me. Besides working with a dedicated career coach, I have also visited the San Jose office to attend live workshops and utilize the office's other resources. Visiting the office allowed me a chance to meet and network with other professionals. Working with Bob and LHH has definitely helped me in my career. I was offered this service as part of a layoff/severance package. I have not needed this service and have found employment already. It's obvious that Lee Hecht Harrison does not get paid by my former employer unless I opt in because their aggressive phone calls/emails/letters are bordering on harassment. If I wanted this, I'd have signed up for it. I wasn't overly happy that my former employer offered up my phone number, address and email to a third party and I'm definitely not pleased with the endless spam. read more

The only way that folks gave this company anything more than 1 Star... 1) employee or 2) friend or family of an employee. Do not waste your time with this company. Read their google reviews... much better example of what you should expect. Lauren follows up with you to schedule a meeting. Replied to her and she WILL NOT/DOES NOT get back to you for at least 24+ hours. I hear they do this intentionally to get as little as possible done in 90 days. Then Lauren replies, please provide your contact information. This is despite the fact that... I already have!!! Three times already!! She then says in another email that my contact information didn't come through on previous emails. Well...then how did you know to respond Lauren? Oh, you got everything but that? Nice life... hope lying keeps those bills paid. And she refuses to "reply" to your emails so there is no chain/accountability on their end. Read other reviews... they do not help find you companies to interview with...but rather provide elementary, outdated or obvious resume advice. You can also drive to the middle of nowhere for group meetings that I hear are a ridiculous waste of time. Do not waste your time! read more

Congrats. You've been laid off. Then you found a page about LHH in your severance package folder and Googled it just to not find much about it except for their web site and you can't even sign in.. You have to mail off the LHH sign up form. Someone will call you in a week and ask you when you want to take the introduction webinar to get you familiarized with their services. Alert: depending on employer, your services are paid for either for a month or two months. What they don't tell you when you sign up for the initial webinar: that the clock starts ticking on the day you take that first webinar. You can't take it, then go on a two week vacation and have your service suspended. Now you want to schedule a one on one with your career coach. Learn from my mistakes here, ok? Email them and ask how many sessions you have in your "plan". Session is about 45 mins and most of us get TWO of them (whoohoo, right?). Get the name of the coach. Google them, Facebook-stalk them, LinkedIn the heck out them right away and if you do not like what you see, request an immediate reassignment before you waste 50% of your one on one sessions with someone who might not be The Best. Mine was a career coach/part time real estate agent. Really? If you are a good career coach, be a good career coach, not a career coach/real estate agent/hairdresser/whatever. I am not dissing any profession here, but most of the time it means that person is not brilliant at either of the two things they do. Prep well for your sessions - write down questions, bring your resume, etc. Regarding your resume: they might suggest how to tweak it style-wise and have some header suggestions, content is still up to you to write. Expect no miracles or one on one resume writing. It is a 10-step program, you have to check off stuff as you go (voluntary), for some reason, they are super stingy on hard copies of anything, constantly referring you to online resources. I prefer some things on paper and others on web site/device, everyone's different, they should be more accommodating. Office is not too far from 1st street/Brokaw, surprisingly shabby inside with some attempts to update (salad green walls and old worn out furniture straight from 80's - depressing!). They have a "library" - a table in a hallway plus some books on the shelves. Peeps, it's an iPad and Kindle era, get your customers an online lending library already! 4 PC stations for job search - no privacy, right by the main hallway/entrance. This particular office space is NOT worth driving for. The cornerstone of the program is networking. Straight out of their gospel: "As many as 7 out of 10 positions are filled through personal contacts" OK, sales and startups - maybe, my experience (wrong or right) is 100% replying to a job ad. No expert, but spending 70% on networking and 30% on replying to actual job ads is, well, an interesting concept which I will neither dismiss completely nor accept as it varies by profession. Decide for yourself if it applies to your field. I am fairly new in town and my coach suggested I reach out to 2nd and 3rd connections on LinkedIn, see who is here and... get together for coffee. Peeps, who has time to have coffee with random strangers?! Did you have time to have coffee with someone random off of LinkedIn when you had a job? Right, I had no time or any interest in it either... For ladies only: think safety first, this networking suggestion may be with some bad side effects. Some guys view LinkedIn as a free version of Match.com (not kidding you here!) Never, ever list your phone # on LinkedIn! So you think you can safely network with your ex coworkers... Think again - they are no longer bound by the rules and regulations of the workplace and are no longer afraid to hit on you. That's the ugly side of networking nobody warns you about. Webinars and online classes are a-ok, nothing spectacular, but better than nothing. Take them as much as you want or can, you can find similar info on Linkedin and a number of serious web sites - WSJ, etc. Keep in mind that their website is so "unique" that it does not adjust to your local time zone or accepts zip code in job search criteria (all jobs are from indeed.com anyway... don't bother). So you will have to figure out your webinar times based on EST and make sure you don't miss them. Hope this helps a little to get oriented and hit the ground running. Used their service and hoping to get some good resume carved out but the counselor who was selected did nothing than removing stuff from resume to reduce its size instead of rewording existing ones to make it in better shape and do some magic to make it short in size and more appealing. Counselor was always asking for some meeting thing and once when I did she was literally asking me what words I should be putting in resume which if I have to do on call with her then why would I have asked to use their service. Surprise...I'm another Yelper who agrees with Muxa C's review. I was laid off a few months ago, and my former employer referred me to Lee Hecht Harrison for 6 months of their services. After completing my online profile, one of their coaches emailed me to set up a time to talk over the phone. The phone call raised a lot of red flags from the beginning. First of all, the coach asked what sort of industries/companies I was interested in. I named off a few. Dead silence from the coach, until she finally asked "Sooo...what are those?" I came to the realization that they'd given me someone on the east coast, with zero knowledge of any of the companies in Denver. Not very helpful. Second red flag- the coach had me look up some companies and list of contacts in their directory. Guess what company she had me look up? My former employer! This was laughable because I don't think she'd looked at my profile before our discussion. The directory was so painfully outdated, it was ridiculous. There were names of people that I knew during my time at that company who had either retired or left a long time ago and were STILL listed as actively employed there. The advice I received was sketchy. I was told to make contacts with 50 people from this said directory per week. Pretty sure emailing random people and HR departments is a surefire way to get you blacklisted and/or annoy anyone involved in the hiring process. Another questionable piece of advice was to take at least 3 people out a week for coffee. Who's thinking about buying coffee after getting laid off? I was more worried about trying to budget and making my finances stretch rather than a coffee meetup multiple times a week. They say they have "exclusive" job listings. That's wrong- every one of their job listings they emailed me were the same things on Indeed or Glassdoor. I decided after the initial phone call that I didn't want to go through with these so-called "services" this company provides. No loss for me since my former employer had already paid for it. The moral of the story is RUN AWAY. I received a job offer not too long after the phone call, so I updated my settings in my profile stating that I was employed and didn't want to be contacted any more. That should've been the end, right? Nope! 4 months later, and these people are still emailing and calling me after I've told them to leave me alone multiple times. I've had to block their numbers and emails to get them to stop. At least I finally got some peace and quiet. Save yourself the time and the headache, and use other resources besides this one. read more
