I brought in an old Simplicity vacuum that had sucked up something it shouldn't have and was making loud grinding noises and smoky smell. I brought it in Thursday afternoon and they had it fixed up and looking as good as new by the following Monday morning. You won't get a better price than you can at Lexington Vacuum. That means they're a bargain because you can't try out various models on line and you can't get the expertise you do at Lexington. The salesman, Marty, actually steered me away from the highest priced model. My research indicated Miele was the best. I asked, "Is the Brilliant worth the extra money over the Marin?" he replied that the Marin wasn't worth the extra $100 over the the next model down. He then went, step by step, through the each difference between the models. When he was done, I asked if there was something he would recommend instead. He said he wouldn't recommend one over the other, but said another to consider is the SEBO. Once again, hoe put the two models side by side and went through what was the same and what was different with each one. All the reviews I read, combined, could not match what I learned from Marty in his demonstrations. Oh, and they perform a yearly servicing. Why buy anywhere else. Of course, you might not be looking to spend that much on a vacuum (although each will last longer than the combined lifetimes of all the vacuums you'll eventually buy), but it became obvious to me from their interactions with other customers in the store that they will provide the same level of customer service, regardless of what brand you buy at any price point. read more

I came here on the advice of friends to have my vacuum cleaner serviced. I didn't know places did that anymore... I thought you just threw it out and bought a new one. Anyway, they fixed our machine which was clogged and barely generating a suction and didn't charge a lot for it. They also made recommendations for a new vacuum when it was time, but they weren't pushy at all in the process. They were burning incense or some air cleaning solution and the place smelled pretty good. Their prices for new cleaners were pretty steep so I don't know if I would go back for that, but for service this place was great. read more

My wife and I have a 3yo Dyson canister vacuum in which the spinner head abruptly stopped spinning and no amount of cleaning on our part would fix it. Rather than attempt surgery ourselves and potentially break it, we brought it into Lexington where the guys were not only super friendly and not at ALL condescending (a big dealbreaker for me when dealing with service guys), but diagnosed the issue in five minutes. I was there to pick up my newer Miele which was a birthday gift 2 years ago and was not running properly. From the time you walk in to the time you leave, you feel like family. Really 4-and-a-half stars - the missing star is a bit grinchy on my part. It's knocked off for lack of communication: at dropping off our vacuum, the message was "flat fee of $49 for labour, doesn't look like it will need any parts, we'll call you in 2-3 days when we get to it." After a week I called back - it was fixed, and the total was $130. Now, we would happily have paid that if we had been asked; the parts used were completely appropriate; and the repair was utterly effective - but it could have been handled a bit better. Otherwise, great: friendly people, repair appears very high quality, really nice to have a local business. I would definitely return. read more

I just bought an awesome vacuum here! I had gone in about a month ago when my crappy old baggless vacuum started to die. The people in there were so great! They asked me a bunch of questions about where I lived, pets, allergies etc. I explained that I have really bad allergy issues and a dog and a cat. The gentleman showed me a Miele Vacuum and gave me a really great demo. He put down hair and cat litter on both carpeted and hard surfaces, and let me use the vacuum and ask questions (he even gave me some tips to improve my vacuuming technique!). I went home and did a bit of research, and the vacuum he showed me got stellar reviews. The price he gave me beat even Amazon.com! When I went back this weekend to buy the machine, they were equally wonderful! They took my new vacuum out of the box, and had a technician assemble it and bench test it for me. In addition to the great price they gave me, I got a free box of bags, and a free service within a year (just to make sure everything is working well, and that I'm happy with the product). Sometimes everyone needs a reminder why they shop at local businesses. Lexington Vacuum provided me with that reminder. A little over a year ago our trusted vacuum cleaner died. The poor refurbished Dyson we had purchased 10 years prior was on its last legs, but my wife was not ready to let it die yet. Twice a day her favorite friend kept her company as she cleaned up the house, but now it was dying. We brought it to Lexington to repair. We received an honest and forthright account of the cost to fix all the things that had failed in the last decade. Certainly came to more than I paid for the unit so long ago. We agreed it was time to buy a new cleaner. Over the next hour, my wife tried multiple brands and discussed the pros, cons and price points of each. Well after the posted closing time we decided on a Simplicity cleaner. Made in the USA, performed the best in the tests we thought most closely matched the animal hair torment they would receive at our home, and had a warranty that sounded too good to be true. It had been the best cleaner we've owned. Recently the Simplicity stopped working with a horrific noise. Less than two years into the warranty we brought it back for repair. Lexington brought it to Simplicity for warranty service and they denied the claim saying the cleaner was run through water and then claimed we ran it without a bag. I reached out to the owner of Lexington and expressed my concerns. He acknowledged the concern and promised to have the fight with the manufacturer on our behalf. He provided a loaner (not the same brand, but was a great reminder why we bought the brand/model we did) so we had something to keep our home together in the interim. Even as Simplicity continued to deny the claim, Marty Brix stood up for the promise he made to us when we purchased the cleaner. He replaced the parts at his own expense. I may not be certain if Simplicity is the right brand for us, but I do know that Lexington Vacuum has lifelong customers. They delivered on their promise and that means the world to me. read more

After a good experience with Lexington Vacuum, I left the wand and power head of a Kenmore with them for repair. I had been told that the roller and belt needed replacing and it would cost approximately $30. They suggested having the whole vacuum cleaned and the total would be $80. Because this was not my primary vacuum, we agreed that it did not make sense to do that. Imagine my surprise when I returned a few days later to pick up the wand and power head and was presented with a bill for over $100. because there were other issues that had not been discovered in the cursory examination when I left it. Had they called me to tell me of the additional expense, I never would have agreed to it--nor will I return to Lexington. Great care and customer service. Terrifically accommodating. I brought in my Miele for repair late morning. I told them I didn't live close by, but I would be in the Albany area for a few hours. They quickly diagnosed the problem, and completed the repair (and a general service) while I was still around, saving me a 35+ mile round trip. Fair pricing too. Hell yeah. Additionally, customers receive the benefit of their knowledge, experience, and expertise with Miele machines (and, presumably, the others brands they service and sell.) About 20 years ago I had completely had it with all the vacuums I bought from the big box stores - they were cheap but kept having various issues because they are so cheaply made. I decided to try Lexington and they set me up with a Sanitaire upright and a Mighty Mite. Both have worked great for years and Lexington was always there if I needed bags or belts or an occasional tune up. Wish I could have afforded a Dyson, but I felt that what they sold me was reasonably priced for my budget. Great personal service so rare these days. I recommend them highly! read more

I have a 13-year-old Hoover WindTunnel, and it's still working fine and I am happy with its performance. Over the years I needed to replace a few brushes; and I went to the OLD 'Lexington vacuum', under the OLD ownership. It was always a pleasure to deal with them: they were nice, helpful; explained which products were better, and I trusted them. Fortunately, I didn't need anything for the last 4 or 5 years, but now I had some problems and needed advice. Turns out, the shop is now in a new location, and under a NEW ownership. Well I don't care as long as I get the same excellent service, right? I called the shop on 5/21/14, and talked to Ron, the repair person. He couldn't have been nicer; advised me to bring the vacuum over and said they would look at it and give me the best advice as to what needs to be done. Great, and I schlepped the vacuum to them today, in pouring rain. I was 'greeted' by a glum-looking fella who asked me what I needed. I mentioned Ron and our conversation. Soon, Ron came to the counter, and he was just as wonderful in person as on the phone. He recommended I buy a new filter ($1), and could use the charcoal sheet, that I had, for the other filter. He even cut it to size and put it in, without me asking him to do it. After he went back, I guess to repair vacuums.... the owner, Marty-the-glum-face, approached me and asked me what else I needed (and NOT with the demeanor one would expect from a vendor who wants business...). I said I might need to replace a furniture brush. He started rummaging through a bin of some random stuff, with no success. He Then looked on the shelf marked 'Hoover' and' (surprise!!!!) found the brush..... Hmmmmmm. His behavior all throughout was extremely arrogant, rude and dismissive. When I mentioned that I might need an extension wand with the air-flow control, he cut me off, and announced that I had taken up 10 minutes of his time, that he is a busy man; he also mentioned that there are people who are Givers, and those who are Takers, and that I am a TAKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I left the shop, never to return, stunned and disgusted. I suggest people stay away from the place run by a jerk like this Marty Brix. There are other places to get vacuum cleaner service in the area, run by decent people who treat their customers with at least a modicum of respect. I'll be watching how long this establishment stays in business.... Sad. read more

I had a mechanical failure on a vacuum that fell under warranty, so I was directed to Lexington Vacuum as an "authorized repair center." When I walked in the front door I heard boisterous singing from a back room where a man was working on repairs. He came out to greet me quickly (still singing). After I explained the issue he took the unit from me and had the broken part swapped out within just a few minutes! I had expected to leave the unit there for a few days at least! Another store employee stayed and spoke with me while I waited. The employees here were extremely friendly and cheerful, and the service was top notch. Went in for a warranty-covered and approved vacuum service...instead they tried to upsell me on outrageous and unneeded services. Claimed my vacuum was fine until I showed them it was clearly broken. I had no idea this place was under new ownership -- what a transformation! The difference is night and day in terms of customer service. The new owner is friendly, generous, and helpful. I stopped in tonight in search of two missing screws for a Eureka vacuum. The owner spent ten minutes looking through his screw collection, found matches, and didn't even charge me for them.There's an newspaper article on the wall about how he used to sell ads for the yellow pages, was looking for a new line of work, and then he and his wife purchased the business in 2011.
