A member of Lexi's team contacted me indicating that her client was interested in buying my house. She schedule a walkthrough at 10:00am on a Saturday and indicated she would take a video of the interior. We prepared the home for her. She did not show up. She did not respond to my text when I asked if she was still coming at 10:05 that morning. read more

Lexi Newman and her team helped us buy our house in the summer of 2020. It was obvious from our first zoom call that she was incredibly knowledgeable about the Los Angeles real estate market. In the height of the pandemic, with a 4 month old baby, we were so relieved to find an agent whose advice we knew we could trust. She navigated a difficult transaction with so much savvy and grace, and got us a great deal on a duplex to use as a family compound. When we decided to sell this year it was an easy choice to call Lexi again. Lexi and her team truly exceeded our expectations. They helped us assess the areas of the home that would benefit the most from updates, and then not only came up with designs, but also managed the renovations. Bathroom and kitchen updates, landscaping, exterior paint, they did it all. They made the whole family feel involved in the process (hours of paint swatching with a 4 year old!) and created a truly beautiful property to put on the market. We feel like we found our real estate guardian angels and could not be more grateful. read more

It was an absolute pleasure working with Lexi and her team to purchase our first home! She was incredibly knowledgable about the local housing market and took the time to walk us through the entire process and answer all of our questions along the way to ensure we had a clear sense of how things would proceed without getting overwhelmed. As first-time homebuyers, we felt like we were in great hands. She and her team were very responsive and easy to communicate with throughout the process, and they supported us every step of the way - through defining our criteria, touring open houses, putting in offers, scheduling inspections, and ultimately closing. We couldn't have asked for a more positive experience working with Lexi and her team, and we highly recommend them! read more

We worked with Lexi, Syd and the team when we had the ambitious idea to sell our first home of 4 years and move into what we hope to be our longterm home in an area we love spending time. We knew going into it that it was a..complicated time to try and do so! In short, Lexi, Syd, and their crew made both things possible, and then some. Jillian from the team was incredibly helpful on both the selling and buying end - and everyone they suggested throughout the process (from contractors to loan agents) were great and made things easier. On the selling end, Lexi came in with a vision, to say the least. Even considering our crazy timing, we underestimated what would go into selling our first house while looking for a new home, but trusting the Lexi process and following her blueprint made things much easier and more effective. From the minor house fixes that made a major difference, to the decorating/photos, everything added up to not just a very satisfactory purchase price, but finding the right buyer who was as excited about the home as we were when we first bought it. It felt good knowing that our first home would be so appreciated. On the buying side, Syd Shook took us and our needs/wants in a home very seriously and, for each property we made an offer on, I can't imagine anyone approaching it with more attention to detail and diligence to give us any and every possible chance at success. This was even more appreciated once we had our offer accepted (under asking!) on a home that was a better fit for us than we could have ever imagined finding at the start of the process - and that's when Syd's hard work really started. She made sure every question and concern we didn't even know we had was answered and addressed. We're beyond happy and obsessed with what is (hopefully) our very long-term home and so much of that is possible because of the thoughtful work put in by Syd and the whole Lexi Newman team. So yes - strongly suggest working with this crew and trusting them to do their thing! read more

I can't recommend Lexi enough! As a single person, buying a home can feel really, really scary and daunting. Especially in the crazy Los Angeles market. I honestly wasn't sure if I was up to the challenge, but Lexi assured me that if it was something I wanted, we could make it happen. And she was right! Not only did she help me to get a great deal with her extensive real estate knowledge and persistence, but she was also incredibly responsive and helpful with any concerns I had along the way. And I had a lot of concerns. Working with Lexi made it feel like I wasn't doing it alone, because I had someone in my corner who cared about the outcome just as much as I did. Loved working with Lexi - she is the ultimate professional while still being down to earth and a pleasure to be around. I truly felt like I made a new friend for life! Syd and Lexi were a dream team! We house hunted remotely before flying in to see things in person. Syd was happy to show houses through FaceTime and was incredibly thorough researching before we flew out. She then moved mountains to make sure we were able to see everything we wanted once we arrived in LA and was a joy to be around. She quickly understood what we valued, always gave balanced opinions on properties and on competitive offers, all while giving our decisions the utmost respect. Lexi also helped us through the offer and escrow process and made working with an incredibly difficult seller's agent a breeze. We truly couldn't recommend them more, their knowledge of east LA and demeanor were invaluable to us in what otherwise would have been a very frustrating and disheartening process. read more

Where to begin with Syd Shook! We are so grateful that she was the agent and person that guided us throughout this process of our first home purchase in California. We were referred to her by one of her other clients that both sold and purchased a property with her, who also had a glowing review of Syd. From the jump, she was incredibly communicative, knowledgeable about both process and the local market, and explained the process of what to expect. She is incredibly proactive, organized, and always willing to go the extra mile to get her clients what they truly want-- we felt supported in our needs and decisions throughout, while also being given great guidance. Something we really appreciated is her honesty and straight-forward communication-- during a stressful and meaningful process like this, you don't want someone who is giving you false expectations or a lack of clarity around what you're getting into, and Syd is incredibly realistic while being encouraging and positive. We SO appreciated this perspective during this process, and appreciate her as a genuine, kind person. She is also very well-connected with local providers and services, and has given us great referrals and resources that we have needed as first-time home buyers. read more

We worked with Syd Shook, from Lexi's team, to find and buy a house in Los Angeles, and I highly recommend her, as she works so hard, maintaining patience and perseverance throughout the process. She does her homework!!! My husband and I were amazed and impressed with all the info she would gather on each property we were interested in, and there were a number of them. When we finally found the one we knew we wanted, she really went to bat for us, and I gotta say - Syd made it happen!! She is the absolute best! read more

2 Sentence Review: Lexi is THE BEST. She will help you find your dream home and then you will dance to loud music inside it because you will own it. Longer Review: Finding a real estate agent is scary. I don't think I'm saying anything new here -- that's why you're reading this review. You're about to embark on a journey to purchase the most expensive item in your life... and not only that, you probably want this place to be your HOME. This is sacred ground we're talking about. You can't just find an agent. You have to find THE agent. I'm here to tell you that Lexi Newman is all that and more. From the moment we met her, we knew Lexi was the agent for us. Not only did she efficiently school us on Northeast Los Angeles housing and first-time home-buying, she made us laugh and empathized with us because she'd been through it all when she bought her first house. Lexi genuinely wants her clients to understand the process they're going through, and she's the perfect person to walk you through all the nerve-wracking "firsts" in the home-buying process. We started the MLS search process with one set of ideas and preferences, and after seeing many of those houses with Lexi, our preferences began to change. She helped us really narrow down the precise area of NELA that we could see ourselves in. And if we saw a house that we liked but weren't 100% sure on, Lexi was always there with good advice and quick responses whenever we were in need. When it came time to making offers, Lexi always had a precise plan and walked us through it step by step. It's another stomach-in-throat feeling when you make an offer, but with the way Lexi writes her offers it feels like you're actually in control and that uneasy feeling goes away. When we found our perfect house, Lexi knew exactly what to counter-offer to beat the other buyers by a narrow margin. As I write this, I'm sitting in the perfect house that Lexi helped us buy, and I'm forever grateful. We wouldn't have wanted to go through this life-changing process with anyone else. Lexi and her team (we worked mostly with Syd who is also a champion) are incredible at their jobs, and do it all with a unique personal touch. As you know, finding an agent is scary, but you'll feel better after you pick Lexi. read more

Working with Syd at Lexi Newman was an absolute dream from start to finish. My husband and I were first time buyers and naturally we were anxious. We needn't have been! Syd made the process of buying a house in LA (something I previously thought to be impossible!) smooth and as stress free as possible. She took time to explain the escrow process in detail, and worked hard to understand what my husband and I were looking for in our first home... without ever pushing us to make decisions we weren't ready for! She is extremely knowledgeable about real estate and gave us expert advice every step of the way. And the best thing? She found us our dream house. A three bedroom bungalow with a huge yard and a view of the mountains. I honestly could not have imagined we'd be homeowners in this city, and I know for a fact we couldn't have done it without her! I cannot recommend her highly enough. Not only did I love working with her, the process would've been way less enjoyable without her! She's a gem. Considering looking for a house but no clue where to start? Reach out to Syd... it'll be the best decision you ever make! read more

Well, in addition to having a great name and the wit and intelligence to rock her own TV show, Lexi Newman is a damn fine real estate agent. She radiates warmth, intelligence and knowledge; the minute I mer her I knew I was in good hands. She made my home selling experience in Highland Park seamless and fun AND much more enjoyable than I ever imagined selling a house could be. There are always those moments in any big project when a bit of anxiety sets in but Lexi (& Syd) were always there to talk it through from a practical, intelligent and strategic perspective, while listening and being completely empathic in my moments of panic. Amazing! She has great market instincts, does her research, always followed up on all my questions; she provided me with flawless advice during the entire experience. Her marketing instincts are super sharp and in the LA market that is SO key. Her buyer's agent partner, Syd Binion, was also SO extremely helpful from start to finish in navigating inspections, networking with the neighbors, finding resources & all the other myriad of details and paperwork. They are an amazing team & so important to me, they are smart, proactive, soulful, joyful & engaged humans. read more

Syd Shook and Lexi Newman are Real Estate super stars-- I wouldn't buy a home in Los Angeles with anyone but them. They came recommended to us by friends, and word of mouth can't be beat, but if this review can come close... rest assured: YOU WANT THEM ON YOUR TEAM. read more

Buying your first house is intimidating. Especially when you're buying a house in Los Angeles and you're a single lady and you're coming to the whole enterprise not knowing a whole lot about it. I met Lexi at my coworker's housewarming party (she's the kind of realtor who attends her buyers' housewarming parties), and she immediately put me at ease with her smile, humor and down-to-earth confidence when I introduced myself. So began a relationship that continues to this day, more than a year later and six months after closing on my house. Simply put, Lexi is the best. She is whip smart, patient (a rare combo!) and hilarious. She held my hand throughout the whole process of searching, making offers, and weighing the pros and cons of various scenarios, edifying me at every step of the way. It was clear she wanted me to really understand the process, and she answered each and every question in a way that was never sloppy or perfunctory. Whether it was a phone call, a thorough email or a series of timely text messages, Lexi always made sure I got the info I needed. If she didn't know the answer to one of my questions, she said she'd find out. AND THEN SHE DID. Without fail. And when things got unexpectedly delayed with the seller's timeline, she advocated on my behalf with multiple stakeholders. Very recently I touched base with Lexi to ask about refinancing my mortgage due to the super low interest rates, and boom! She was there to offer input and help me with something that she had zero financial stake in. Lexi is the real deal. She cares about her clients, she's empathetic and encouraging and basically everything you'd want your realtor to be. I used to joke with her that she was my therapist as much as my realtor. And it's true--other than the fact that my therapist didn't give me a housewarming gift or attend my housewarming party...thank you Lexi! read more

I have the unique experience in working with Lexi twice, once buying our house a few years ago and now selling our house. Lexi has always been amazing. Our first experience made us confident in working with her again and she surpassed our expectations! Selling our house was a nervous time because we really had no sense of the market and how to price the property. Lexi helped us with all aspects of the sale from finding just the right price point, connecting with vendors (inspectors, contractors, city officials, escrow), creating all the marketing and buzz that landed our house as Zillow's top viewed house in our neighborhood, putting on a few excellent open houses, helping us through city requirements and paperwork, and getting us set up for a smooth escrow process. One of the best part about working with Lexi is that she knows all the answers and works tirelessly to be available to you as her client. Her investment in our property and the fact that we got responses in a timely fashion made us feel like a top priority and eased so many of our worries. I highly recommend Lexi Newman for your real estate needs. read more

Lexi and her team were instrumental in helping our buy a house in this ultra competitive house market. Lexi knows her stuff and was generous with her knowledge every single step of the way. She is incredibly ethical and always put our needs and wants first. Never had we felt like we were pressured into making a decision we weren't sure about. This is *not my first time in the housing market and I have had the misfortunes of working with agents who are flaky, unresponsive and only care about the commission. Lexi and her team are not like that. We were able to close in 21 days, because of Lexi's amazing network of lenders, repair people, experts in whatever field you can think of (her Rolodex even includes geologists!). We would recommend Lexi to our friends and families. read more

Lexi Newman was referred to me by a family friend, the way that I am sure that these things often happen. When I met her, I had been scouring the market for about two months, mostly online, and had attended a few open houses. I met one agent whom I initially thought that I could work with...only to discover that he was more impressed with his "title" of "realtor of the year" than he was dedicated to helping people buy or sell real estate. Needless to say, Lexi is the proverbial fresh breath of air. She's more like the breath of life as far as I'm concerned, because for a first time buyer with a limited budget, she took the time--and I mean time--to help me narrow down what it was that I really wanted and/or needed and what would ultimately be the best fit. I took her out of her NELA home region, but because of her hard work, dedication, intelligence and savvy she came through my buying experience as an expert in my chosen neck of the woods too. In my almost six month journey to homeownership, I went through the major parts of escrow with her twice. This is where her right hand came in, the amazing and equally kind (escrow manager) Syd Binion. Syd stepped in for that grueling stage of any escrow: inspections. The first house that I almost bought had an undisclosed septic issue, and although I was out of town Syd endured the septic inspection--yup, folks, that involves pumping and the smells come for free--like a champ, and without me there. What I bought is what I told Lexi and Syd that I wanted in the beginning, and I could not be happier with my choice. I also know that I could not have done this without both of them. The house I purchased was sold "as is" and needed just about everything; even though the seller had clearly stated that they would not budge on granting any credits, Lexi STILL managed to negotiate an amazing credit--who can do that?! Lexi Newman can. I could go on...and on...but from the deepest warm fuzziest place in my heart, and with my pocketbook too, I say THANK YOU to the Lexi Newman team. They truly are there for you from start to finish and beyond, and if you have projects, they will take the time to help you sort out contractors too. They are true professionals, they know the market, and they got me the house I wanted when there were other offers--some all cash, some much higher than mine--on the table. Hire these two! Lexi and Syd have your back like no one else. P.S. A realtor who shows up to an open house wearing five buckle pointy toed vintage black boots circa 1988 is magical. This actually happened. read more
