Back in the day, this was where you went to hang out with friends, wander the halls, and kill time. The mall never had a food court, and the dining options were limited, but somehow that never stopped us. I remember doing my Christmas shopping here every year and visiting Santa as a kid. The decorations weren't anything special, but it was still part of the season. The Maine Mall was always a better option with more stores and choices, but it was almost an hour away, so Auburn Mall was what most of us used. The anchors were JCPenney, which somehow is still here, and Porteous, which eventually became a TD Bank office. Most of the smaller stores are long gone. A few businesses remain, but many empty storefronts are now used to display what looks like the mall owner's personal collection of motorcycles. It feels less like a mall and more like someone's very strange private museum. Walking through the mall today is like stepping into a time capsule. The interior still has that unmistakable 1990s vibe, from the floors to the lighting to the decor. It's like no one ever thought to update it, which is both charming and a little sad. The place feels frozen in time, stuck somewhere between the past and the present. The entrance still sports that unmistakably 1990s sign. It's so outdated it's basically retro now. If a movie studio wanted a location for a 90s mall scene, this would be perfect as is. The Auburn Mall isn't really a mall anymore. It's a nostalgia trip with quiet hallways and plenty of memories. One star for what it is today. A thousand stars for what it once was.

I've always liked it's long shape, it's brightly light atrium area for dining or reading, it's overall cleanliness, and the shops who call it home: specifically Wild Oats (one of favorite eateries in the entire state of Maine), Indrani's (where the intoxicating smell I'm obsessed with originates; it's a really cool shop specializing in globally inspired/sourced/imported home goods, gifts, clothing, jewelry, etc.), and one entrance into Eveningstar Cinema (an intimate, artsy, single screen indie movie theater that is charming and unique and smells of deliriously rich popcorn). I just feel like this spot is a frozen moment in time in the best way possible. Bathrooms available immediately upon entering, and down the flight of the stairs to the cinema. There's always parking available right in front on Maine Street. Basically... please never change, Tontine.

She says that's not my job can you believe that she actually said that's not my job? I asked her to get the manager three times she never did. I asked her out of the two of us which one of us works here? She says that's not my job. So evidently not only did we pay for the plastic bag that we didn't get we paid for the reusable bag and we have to put the groceries in the bag because somehow in this bamboozle we lost our right to service. We called here to see if we could have a brass bell engraved. They were confident in their answer…read morein being able to engrave it so we dropped the bell off with them. We called to check on the bell and first were told the girl who could work on it didn't come in until 10 one morning and they would call us with an update. I'm sure there was some confusion with myself calling and my husband being the person they called back however, after we called to check again on the bell, we were told that they engraved it, didn't like how it came out, buffed it, and would be re-engraving it. Once again, when we called to check on it, we were told that the girl that did engraving didn't work on Mondays. Then, next thing we know, they are telling us they can no longer engrave it. I understand that unpredictable situations occur and perhaps my perception of the experience is a bit different, but we were told they could do something and then after apparently doing work, could no longer perform the service requested. It just felt a bit off... everyone was friendly when we would call so nothing against the employees, just ended up being a situation that set us back on this project (a gift) a few weeks longer than we would have liked and just seemed like we were being given false information.

When the appraisals came back I had to laugh on how ridiculous the appraisals were. They were less than half of what was paid when purchased and with the the authenticity paperwork showing it was a numbered Hearts on fire cut, perfect cut, perfect clarity. Looking at the paperwork for the rings all four papers were exactly the same wording with the appraisal price typed in. The rings were four completely different rings. There was no description of any of the rings beside size. I got them reappraised by two other places after, with them coming out higher than purchased price, and the two other places matched each other. My point.... Don't spend the money to appraise them there and don't believe them especially if you want to sell them to them!

Settlers Green is an outdoor shopping plaza in the beautiful town of North Conway. It is a tax free…read moreshopping plaza which consumers can benefit from. There is a coffee shop, candy shop, restaurants, and name brand stores like Columbia and Sketchers to name a couple. We went there a couple of times and enjoyed walking around and shopping. We've dined at Barley and Salt and got coffee at The Met Coffee House. Definitely worth a stop if you enjoy shopping. They also have electric vehicle chargers and plenty of free parking.

We still explored the outlet a bit. There are parking lots all around the place, not too difficult to find parking. It's mostly clean. Security personnel were walking around to make sure the safety of shoppers. There's a beer garden (was closed) and some good restaurants to dine as well. Lots of directories available at entrance points. They had over 50 different stores, including some popular ones like Gap, Old Navy, Kate Spade, MK, Levi's, Adidas, Pandora, Skechers and Crocs. Most of them had discount offers and memorial day weekend sale going on, on top of reduced outlet price on items.
