My best friend (who does not have a Yelp) kindly asked me if I would put up a review for Levi's. Anyway, here it goes... so she previously had a crab cake from this establishment, in which she found to be magically delicious! Two weeks after her first Levi's crabcake, she decided to go back for more! So she ordered two crab cakes and two sides. She said her bag was tied up nice so she thanked the workers and left to go home. When she got home, she opened her bag and then the container. What sat before her were two charcoal crusted crabcakes! She yelled out WTF is this! She then decided to give me call and said, "Charlie I'm so pissed!" What why?! I said. I then told her to send me a picture. When i received the picture i laughed a good laugh until the tears flowed from my eyes! Once my stomach started to tighten from all the laughter. I said well standby while i look up the company. I then looked up the company to see their awful reviews! You Idiot! I said to her. Always Yelp before you go! Ha read more

Levi's Restaurant - Soul Food Near Me - Mitchellville, Maryland

Okay so,, I was here on a Monday with my mom and whatnot. We used to be HUGE fans of Levi's back in the day and after an hour of going back and forth about what we wanted to eat, she brings up Levi's. And with that, we were headed right over. It's just the fact that I had expectations,,, and they were *not* met. Like seriously. How can something be over sauced and under flavored at the exact same time :|? Like I said, this place used to be *the* place to get "soul" food in the area but uhm. Very lacking on the "soul" part. Now that I think about it the food part was lacking as well. Yes. It's cafeteria style; you see what it is that you want, you point to it, they serve it to you. Honestly? All the food looked uhm,, a bit nasty but since I drove allll this way I might as well. I got the veggie plate; mostly because every meat in there was slam dunked into sauce like they were trying to hide burnt food or something (they were). I got the yams. Best thing about the place honestly. Cabbage? Mushy with a hint of can.... Mac and Cheese? Look man, I've had better Mac and cheese in a frozen dinner than this place. Cheaper too, just saying. Cornbread? Rock solid. I have never been to a soul food place with BAD cornbread like man, that is the BASIS of all soul fool platters, the MEAL revolves around the cornbread and greens,, both of which were quite nasty (My mom got them. She gave them a three out of ten, which was quite generous, if you ask me.) I also got an apple cobbler. Uhm. Yeah no, not ever again. Thing was lacking everything but sugar. The person that made it must've put the ENTIRE box of brown sugar into it because that was all I was tasting. Basically apple sauce with chunks of crust in it. Within like two bites of the food me and my mom looked at each other as if we were thinking the same thing. Two bites later and everything went in the trash. Place has realllllyyyy gone downhill from the past five years. Only reason I give it three out of five stars is based off of nostalgia entirely. Maybe I'll wait another five years and come back and see if it gets any better. Who knows? Honestly, I think I would've been better off going to Carolina Kitchen. read more

This joint done went str8 downhill. Over seasoned food. Chitlins' had bullets in the chamber...they were dirty af! They are sloppy than a mofo. Don't go. read more

The food is mediocre, but decent. The staff took far too long to prepare my order. The restaurant is set up cafeteria style, with all of the food prepared, but instead of making the plates when you order, you are given a ticket and you are requested to wait in the dining area until the orders are prepared. The food was already ready, but I ended up waiting 20 minutes for three simple orders of food that I could see behind the countertop (instead of having to be cooked in the back). Additionally, it appeared that most of the staff was just standing around, talking, instead of working efficiently to get orders prepared. I'll probably be back just because I'm in that area, but I definitely wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I ordered from Levi's Restaurant for the first time earlier. The ribs, bbq chicken, macaroni n cheese, and greens were great. I also had the bread pudding. The bread pudding was really good. Everything was really good. I will definitely be ordering from them again. read more

The food is horrible and so is the customer service. The cashier always have attitude. The food is inconsistent. When I have the taste for soul food I go to Carolina Kitchen. read more

This was the worse soul food I have ever eaten. First I spent over $75 for two slabs of ribs and two large size. Quite taken by surprise of the cost but I guess since post pandemic everything has gone up, It would have been fine except for each order of ribs they gave 5- ribs. These ribs were horrible. They had no taste at all. I think they forgot to put any kind of seasoning on them, but the worse thing is they were under cooked. I had to cook them for another hour. The collard green and macaroni and cheese were just ok. I had brought the food for some friends. They were truly disappointed. I know I will not go there again. read more

I was utterly disgusted!!! I ordered the 3 Whiting, 2 wings, mash potatoes with gravy and collard greens. Let's start off with the 1 piece of fish cut up in 3's!!! I'm thinking I'm getting 3 nice size fillet fish and I get gag with a 1 and 3. 1 malnourished fish cut up into 3 pieces!! Let's move on to the Grits of Collard Greens!! Soooo nobody gave the greens a wash??? They gave enough mash potatoes for a family of 4 . I guess the cook had in mind that I wanted to eat mash potatoes all darn week. Oh the wings? What about them you ask?? Yea what about them? Nothing about them!!! Now I see why they don't have a picture of the items. Order at your own risk cause NEVER again. Never had a bad meal from Levi in Clinton. Mitchellville never ever again!!! read more

Drove 25 mi only to be disappointed with the pork chops and gravy two sides were collard greens and mac and cheese. Portions were exceptional but the pork chops were extremely dried out .Drove a long way to be disappointed read more

I have visited MD twice in the last 6 months and my family always serves us Levis'. This it the best should food and consistent I have ever had in all my years. I usually don't eat restaurant soul food because it never measures up. But this is as good mama's. And definitely better than some people's mamas. All these complaints about the service! Just enjoy the food like you did at home! read more

Horrible customer service. Rudeee isn't the word. Food isn't all that great, but edible ‍ came here for lunch even after two years of offing this place after my mom and I came in one day and the woman serving our food had full on rollers in her head. Still haven't changed their poor customer services practices. Maybe they need training? Maybe certain things like basic customer service skills aren't common sense ‍ Really disappointed, we got to do better ‍‍ read more

Do yourself a favor and go to Ruby's Southern Kitchen instead. They are black owned and the food is great along with the service. The new management at Levi's is terrible. read more

I've patronized this establishment for over 10+ years. However, within the last several months I've gotten food from here and it has been TERRIBLE HORRIFIC, to say the least!!!! The BBQ chicken(both times) extremely HARD and dried out. The liver was OVER-COOKED and HARD as hell. The cabbage was bland and it was the whole leaf!! They could have at least cut it up, a little. My GOD what a major DISAPPOINTMENT. I feel like I wasted my money. Both dinners were thrown in the Trash!!! Awful!!!! read more

Halfway into our meal, I found a piece of hair literally fried into the chicken breading. Photo below. We reported the incident to Uber Eats but I had to share here as well to warn others. Proceed at your own risk. read more

Went today for lunch. Place was empty. Lady taking my order was very uninterested and answering direct questions about the food seemed to bother her. Placed order and when it was finally ready the guy bagging the food didn't seem to know what he was doing and when I said hi he just stared at me like I was talking a different language. The cashier was on the phone the entire time I was in the restaurant even while I was paying my bill...very rude. Worst part is the owners were right there and didn't have a problem with anything. They just stood there talking. Another customer came in and from her interactions with the workers said she will never be back. Sad because this use to be a busy spot with great food. Not anymore. Oh and my food: NC bbq (oily and lacked flavor) Cole slaw ( just ok) macaroni and cheese (greasy mess) and hush puppies (half cold half hot). Threw most of my food away Won't be back. I can cook my own soul food at this rate. read more

The food does not taste the same as it did before this location closed and reopened. The "soul food" tastes like Chinese Carryout food. Please do not eat here if you want soul food. Please do not eat here if you want food that tastes good. read more

The food was HORRIBLE. Loaded with salt as if it will help. NOT!!! I can't even cook, but I know that my food will taste better than this GARBAGE. This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. read more

The food is decent, but service leaves a lot to be desired. Tonight was the absolute worst as two staff members literally stood behind the counter and finished the most inane, non-business related conversation after I walked in and to the counter. I literally had to stand there and listen to them finish their football talk before being greeted, and, even then, it's like they couldn't have cared less. I always call my order in or order online because it's 2024 and who walks in and orders, and because I personally feel my time is at a premium. Even with calling and ordering ahead, my order is seldom ready at the promised time or within reason. ONE THING TO NOTE, THE CATFISH DINNER IS $25 AND IS ONE PIECE OF CATFISH CUT INTO 3 PIECES NOT 3 PIECES OF CATFISH, A TOTAL RIPOFF. I try to support a local soul food business, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to stick to this. Speaking of which, LEVI'S HAS A FEW BLACK PEOPLE WORKING THERE BUT IS NOT BLACK OWNED, if that means anything to you. The atmosphere is sleazy with the plastic table cloths, outdated tables and decor and single, early 90's, fuzzy TV. read more

Very rude staff, wouldn't answer questions about their dry looking food and very hateful. One little boy with very bad teeth that looked like a girl was especially rude and kept saying things under his breath. Finally, I requested my money back and just left. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, AND WILL NOT BE RETURNING. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! read more

I had such high expectations for this restaurant. It is a local store and locally owned and I felt compelled to support. My first impression was "this place is a bit dark", then, "this place is a bit dirty". The food looked okay so I ordered the bbq chicken. I think the worst part was the CUSTOMER SERVICE. They acted like I should have been happy for them to take my order. I thought at one point the rudeness was a theme, but no... they were just rude. My experience: BBQ Chicken - looked boiled and dipped in a watery sauce Mac and cheese - mac and cheese was okay, but it did not blow me away. Greens - a bit too vinegary for my taste, but my kids enjoyed them. read more

I ordered from here just now and they unsurprisingly fucked it up. My sweetheart ordered a chicken sandwich and they gave us wings. I got the fried shrimps corn and rice. So I had been putting up with the rude and unprofessional employees that seem the upmost bothered if you dare enter their store to buy food BECAUSE the food used to be great. I'm leaving this 1 star review today because not only the service your regular terrible today, but the food was too. I never had this issue at the Clinton location albeit it's been 5 years or so since I lived on that side of town. read more

I have been a patron of Levi's for years. My go to meal is the smothered fried pork chops with cabbage and mashed potatoes. This meal never disappoints. I will say though that the customer service has diminished. The young lady and gentleman making the dinners were very playful with each other to the point where it was holding up the line and the call in orders. read more

Horrible doesn't describe the customer service! If you are full of rage please don't go into customer service! The wait was ridiculous, I almost had my head bitten off when I asked for corn because " WE DON'T HAVE CORN!" I was told the rest of my order would be 15 minutes which turned into 50 minutes because of the Mac and cheese I ordered to sub for the corn took that long . The woman taking the orders was yelling at staff and nasty to customers. This young lady came in to say her father's ribs were not cooked properly and the look the woman gave her I thought she was going to rip her head clean off! Lawd! When I got home my fish was fried 3 times over at least , like they wanted to make sure this poor fish was never on the land of the living ! Smh ...it wasn't fried fish it was just fried Needless to say, I will not return. read more

My food adventure is leading me to quite a few places you may have frequented, and/or spots that you know nothing about. Cue in this establishment #levisrestaurant located at 10252 Lake Arbor Way., Mitchellville M.D.. Either you know about this place, or you've never herd of it. This is a classic restaurant/carry out that serves up a wide selection of Soul Food!! They have fried fish (trout or whiting), pork or beef bbq ribs, baked chicken, fried chicken, liver n onions, chicken fried steak, green beans, mashed potatoes, fries, cakes, cobblers, and pies!! Yes, they have it all. I walked in and decided to order their baked chicken platter with...you guessed it...Mac n cheese, and collard greens (my favorite two sides). The store was dark, in lighting, and in energy...unfortunately it was an inexplicable, uncomfortable vibe in there. Know what you want to order before you walk up to order...the host (although she greeted me and was cordial), got a tad bit frustrated when I placed my order, and had to make a quick decision to get something other than the beef ribs that they didn't have. The wait time was 10 minutes and the total price for my meal was $19.06...not bad. I opted for their baked chicken, got it, dipped into everything, and I must say...it was lackluster. The collards were tasty. I copped a sweet tea that was overly sweetened, in my opinion and it tasted fermented, as if the container they keep the tea in hasn't been cleaned. Look, it could be that I simply ordered the wrong thing, they were having a rough day, or some other variable. There was a constant flow of patrons going in and out so they are doing something right...it could be ME!! They have another location in Clinton M.D., parking was ample, and customer service was at least cordial. That's it. #soulfood #bakedchicken #macncheese #collardgreens #sweettea #bigschlimsreviews #food #mitchellvillemd #thatsit read more

The restaurant has done a complete 180. It is newly renovated and owned. Super clean and the soul food is down home southern cuisine. The customer service here is awesome. I had a small complaint about one piece of meat in my order from last night and I was ordering for someone else today and they asked if I had the order and I did.. they asked that I return it and I did. They didn't just replace the piece of meat but gave me a whole new fresh order. The manager was there and asked if I were satisfied or was there something else they could do? Now that s good customer service on top of great food. Can't change the past but if they keep this up along with the clean establishment their future looks very bright. read more

Fastest Restaurant Visit in history!....I walked in and said "Hello". They looked at me and looked away without greeting me as if my patronage bothered them. I had a taste for soul food so I decided to take my cousin's recommendation and try out this place. When you first walk in, you are not greeted by anyone but the food is displayed. I walked over to the food and had to ask a staff member how the process of ordering food works. They told me to wait in the line behind the bar and once they finished making another persons food they would call for me to come up. I went up and I noticed that none of the staff had hairnets on their head, which is extremely unsanitary. Since the food is served cafeteria style, they should have hairnets on. In addition, I noticed that the staff seemed to be untalkative and unfriendly. I ordered the North Carolina style ribs and bbq chicken combo with Mac n cheese and yams, along with a strawberry cake. My ribs and chicken were really tasty, and the yams had a perfect mix of nutmeg and sugar. However, my strawberry cake was VERY dry! I should've had milk with it because that's how dry it was. I give this restaurant 3 stars because although the food is decently good, the staff should've had hairnets on. read more

I had Levi's for the first time maybe 10 years ago or so and I had a great experience! It was so good! Had it catered for Mother's Day and overall it was VERY BAD! The mac and cheese had KRAFT CHEESE singles throughout the noodles. The potato salad was OK but not great. The greens had a great flavor but were not cut so they were in big chunks. The fried chicken was dry and over cooked. The whiting fish was good. The ribs were the best thing. They were tender and the sauce was good. The peach cobbler was okay. It was primarily peach mush. Overall, not happy with the experience and would not recommend it for catering or for single plates after this experience. read more

I used to eat here once a month but I took a break because the food became mediocre. I went on 12/14 and ordered ribs, greens and cabbage. The ribs weren't tender and the bbq sauce was sweeter than I remember. The greens were good! The cabbage was really good as well but a bit over cooked for me. I read through several reviews and can co-sign them, unfortunately. ‍ The people on the line do NOT wear hair nets nor gloves. The cashier had a whole 5 minute convo, while I'm standing in her face, with another person that didn't appear to work there, before she acknowledge me so I can pay for my food. I could/would deal with a hood staff IF the food was good....In this case, if I want a veggie plate and in the area, I might go back. read more

The customer service is amazing! I love the food also! The catfish is my favorite. Thank you!

If you want food "inspired" by soul food recipes then this place has been a popular spot serving the usual stereotypical dishes. Heres the rub: The food is not authentic soul food. It is not made or owned by African Americans and it doesn't taste that good. A friend took me once raving over this "soul food place!" When I got there and saw it was owned and operated vy Asians I was a little put off. I tasted it to see if it was good enough to claim the title. NOPE If you are going to copy a culture's food and profit at least make it correctly. Its not a race thing. Its a CULTURE thing. If you say you make soulfood you better put some SOUL in it. read more

Short and sweet: I got the bone-in fish with greens and sweet potatoes. I liked all of it and I ate every single bit of it. The fish could have had a bit more flavor, but I was happy. I wrote this place off 3 years ago because of horrible customer service. I decided to give it another try out of convenience. Extremely rude, mediocre food, no people skills whatsoever. Cashier spoke to her coworkers about how horrible and cheap PG County residents are directly in front of me and two other people in line. I couldn't believe how much she didn't care that we could hear her. No need to dive deep into my disappointment. Several other options in the area. They will NEVER get my money again.
