    Restaurant & Menu

2/10/26. It's my first visit. I just happened to be in the area. In this plaza, I have the choice of pizza, Chinese or Levi's. I decided to try Levi's. I was a little skeptical based on the overall rating of this restaurant. But still decided to go with Levi's. I ordered one of their lunch specials ($10.99). I got baked chicken and two sides with a dinner roll & drink. Very good price! For me, I think it's kind of hard to screw up baked chicken so I tend to always get that when trying out new places. The chicken was very juicy; flavorful. The green beans were very very tasty. I got lo mein as my other side which was also good. Everything was good but I loved the seasoned green beans the best. As I'm going to be in the area for a couple more days, I will be eating here each day.

When I want soul food I always order from here the fried whitening is DELICIOUS it's always fried perfectly without too much batter/oil so you can genuinely enjoy the fish.

They served me raw and under cooked turkey wings today. I noticed that they had no customers during peak lunchtime, and this is why.

Service here was absolutely amazing. The staff were very friendly. James was the cashier and displayed such amazing hospitality to me. The process to order was smooth and the wait was not long. The pork ribs and yams were delicious! I probably wouldn't try the Mac n cheese again. I would be back to try more next time.

I've dined at this restaurant before and after the renovations and change in management. The previous food quality and business management team left me with more to desire. The old customer service was in desperate need of improvement just to get to industry standards. The new management team and the food quality they produce seems better, however, still leaves me wanting more in both food quality and customer service. One day I drove by and saw the inside of the restaurant seemed to be renovated, so I stopped by to give them a try during lunch. They have lunch specials which lured me in. They offer a small discount on your lunch items when you purchase with cash. As far as the food is concerned, in my opinion it is good enough to pass if you have an urge for soul food and you desire something quick, however, much of their soul food menu items could benefit from being prepared with more pride and attention to detail. Heavily sauced proteins, overly sweet candied yams, and fried proteins overly crisp are all indicative of low quality preparation and lack of attention to detail. I visited this place for their lunch specials a few times to verify their quality and I'm convinced that what they have produced is their consistency. The food quality is low and their prices reflect it, so understand you get what you pay for. I think I'll stick with the fried whiting from now on, however I will give other lunch items a try if they look appeasing in the display. NOTE: the fried whiting is delicious.

My meal from Horace and Dickies. Good food and even better customer service. Go here if both matter.

Period…read more I've been seeing this place all over social media, so when I found myself in the area, I had to see what the hype was about. First off, parking is easy. It's in a shopping center, so nothing stressful there, and the restaurant itself is easy to spot. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how clean, polished, and classy everything looked. Even though it was busy, it didn't feel chaotic. The staff immediately greeted me and asked if it was my first time which I appreciated. They didn't just rush me through the line; they actually took time to explain the menu, how the bowls are built, and offered samples. That alone made the experience feel welcoming and intentional. Now let's get into the FOOD. Everything looked fresh. They have about four rice options (which is already a win), and I went with the pineapple coconut rice. For my protein, I chose grilled chicken, but they also offer shrimp, salmon, and even a mushroom option for vegetarians and honestly, the mushrooms looked so good I almost switched. For my added sides, I kept it simple because I really wanted to taste everything. Collard greens and sweet potatoes. But they also had plantains, and okra....real deal soul food options. Then you get into the fresh toppings. Slaws, carrots, pickled veggies. I kept it light. I finished my bowl with collard green pesto (which intrigued me, and I'm glad I tried it) and added an étouffée sauce over my rice... and listen!!!!! That combo? Chef's kiss. I grabbed a tropical punch juice, and just like everything else, it tasted fresh and well-made. Let me say this clearly: the food is a 10/10. If you're someone who will give Chipotle chance after chance, then you absolutely owe it to yourself to try Spice Black. 10/10. Worth your money. Worth the hype. Worth the experience.

The restaurant is nicely decorated with vibrant colors and very clean. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food was okay. Not bad and just good in my opinion. Its not rave worthy but its still good. I would come back and try other options. This is still a good healthier option oppose to the many of terrible choices we have to choose from, this beats most unhealthy fast foods restaurants. For that reason I would return to try other food options. If you like chickpeas then this is your meal, Im not so it threw off the salad to me. I would have preferred chicken. Honestly, everything came together nicely as one salad, nothing was over powering. I'm just not a fan of chickpeas. They do have an option for shrimp but dont eat bottom feeders so that wasn't an option for me. My tastebuds are much different from yours so I would still give it a try. You might like it a little more than me. Its still a fairly good meal.

The mixed veggies were absolutely disgusting-- gave them back. I paid $65 for fried catfish with two sides, fried croaker with two sides, a cookie and two drinks---and sadly, the only thing that was sort of worth it was the cornbread, but it tastes like it has coconut in it. I hate coconut. The item that was the most flavorful for me was the black eyed peas/hoppin John (minus the big pieces of fatty meat in them).

This place is pretty big and I am curious with the setup if Jaspers was another type of "entertainment" establishment where more than the drinks would be shaking. Well, a quick search answered my question, and it once was once the BET Soundstage where they filmed videos of Uncut. IYKYK. I am not sure of that last part about Uncut actually. What I do know is that Jaspers is well worth a return. From the looks this place stays busy and a definite local spot for some. Service was pretty good and it is no different than many places where some are doing more than others and so glad we had someone who was focused and answered our questions. I started off with a drink called the Darth Vader. It is strong but not to the point where you taste just alcohol. I highly recommend the Chino Latino Rolls. I wish they had some avocado lime crema to go with it but this app was good with the sour cream. The appetizer came out hot and was not waiting under some heat lamp. It's a fact: Mid-Atlantic Seafood can be easily overlooked for non-seafood options, ie where else in the area - or anywhere close ie New Carrolton, Landover Hills, Lanham, Seabrook, Glendale and Greenbelt - can you find at least 8 types of cake slices, 6 cheesecake flavors and 6 pies. I'll go over this later. Any entree that comes with sides will give you 30 choices. Which of the 30 sides will you choose?! With so many dining options to choose from, do yourself a favor: flip-thru all of the menu options at the tiny menu monitor to the left of the dessert case before deciding what to eat because out of the 9 gigantic, rotating monitor menus, I didn't as easily see half of what they actually offer. Just go to the small monitor and read about all of the appetizers, salads, entrees and deserts efficiently. Alternatively, visit https://mid-atlanticseafood.com/new-carrollton/ on your phone. Seriously: aside from all of the seafood on the large monitors, you can get turkey, homemade meatloaf, barbecue chicken and ribs. As for the 30 sides to choose from, some are macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and French fries. We loved the mac-n-cheese. And the cheesy potatoes look overly rich but they are not. Really enjoyed those, too. These are classic potatoes au gratin with a bit of extra cheese and a lot of flavor. They also serve diverse varieties of other sides, including lo mein, white rice and cornbread. Not to mention the grilled vegetables, green beans, cheesy broccoli, corn and other options on the massive and never-ending steam table. On the 9 main video screens, you can get more than 7 kinds of fish and choose if you want it fried, baked or grilled. We wanted ours' baked. The waiter recommended to have it grilled because it would take less time and be more tender. We didn't listen to his advice, but he was right. Our baked fish was ok but we would love to come back and taste it grilled. The variety of fish offered is impressive, from ocean perch to salmon to tilapia to flounder to grouper to mahi mahi to whiting. You can also order crabs, snow crab legs and shrimp. Also want to try the stuffed shrimp here. When it says, "stuffed," that means with crabmeat. They have a garlic butter seafood boil here with crab legs, spiced shrimp, andouille chicken sausage, corn, etc. Meow. The chicken comes 4 ways: barbecued, fried or baked and as chicken wings. They have 3 types of pork chops: grilled, fried and smothered with gravy. Their entrees come with a choice of white bread, wheat bread, a potato roll or a slice of cornbread for an upcharge of $1.00. I didn't taste the cornbread on this visit but I'd like to, next time. One team member passionately said it was really good. We tried the mango slaw and it was good but not sweet. I heard the regular cole slaw is even better, so I would like to try that because I'm guessing it's as good as all the rest of their food we tried. I would also like to try the crab fried deviled eggs and the Cajun steamed mussels. Not to mention a lot of other dishes there! And now back to the cakes. They have so many desserts to choose from. I mean: multiple flavors of cakes, cheesecakes, pies, etc. They even have Smith Island cakes, which are a thinly-layered and stacked legendary Chesapeake Bay tradition. The current flavors are chocolate, red velvet and coconut at time of writing. We enjoyed our lemon short cake, the lemon berry marscapone cake and the mixed berry shortcake. Six different flavors of cheesecake, anyone? I'll next try the sweet potato and cinnamon cheesecake, please. They also have 6 kinds of pies including pecan, key lime and cookies and cream. The design of Mid-Atlantic Seafood is understated, clean and simple: counter service, a cold case of desserts and salads, a series of long steam table ms and a small eat-in dining area for maybe 20 people. The restrooms: clean and regularly checked. The staff are all helpful and busy. Good people serving good food! Do consider this a cafeteria, specializing in seafood with an out-of-this-world bakery.
