It'd been years since I had Levi's and I had a taste for some soul food....so I found myself at their Mitchellville/Upper Marlboro location. The parking is great hear. The customer service could be better. They could be a bit more friendly and welcoming for sure, but they weren't nasty. I got the turkey wings w/stuffing, collard greens, and candied yams. The food was good. I think with certain items (especially soul food) the taste is a preference. Like I prefer dressing over stuffing....IYKYK. The stuffing was definitely some of the better stuffing that I've had, but it's still not dressing and I wouldn't get it again. Likewise the candied yams were ok, but I like mine a little more candied. The collard greens were good and I definitely would get them again. The turkey wings were definitely on point and they gave you a good portion size to make the meal worth the price. I would definitely go back to this location and try some of their other options. read more

My partner's family took us to Levi's for dinner, and it was definitely an experience! The place could use a little TLC, and the buffet-style setup where they serve you didn't exactly scream "fine dining." Honestly, food sitting out like that usually makes me want to bolt, but I stayed (mostly because I couldn't make a graceful escape). I went for the smothered chicken wings, mac & cheese, and greens. My partner got catfish, and his family brought in some variety--including pig feet, which I ended up sharing with his stepmom. And wow, those pig feet? Life-changing. I didn't know much I missed them until I had them again! Now, I'll admit, I'm not really a "smothered" kind of person, so next time I'd maybe ask for the gravy on the side. But honestly? Everything was delicious. The greens were tasty, the cornbread was heavenly, and that mac & cheese? Chef's kiss. If you're looking for something fancy, well... this isn't it. But Levi's knows how to cook, and I'd absolutely go back. Give it a shot--even if pig feet aren't your thing (yet). read more

2/10/26. It's my first visit. I just happened to be in the area. In this plaza, I have the choice of pizza, Chinese or Levi's. I decided to try Levi's. I was a little skeptical based on the overall rating of this restaurant. But still decided to go with Levi's. I ordered one of their lunch specials ($10.99). I got baked chicken and two sides with a dinner roll & drink. Very good price! For me, I think it's kind of hard to screw up baked chicken so I tend to always get that when trying out new places. The chicken was very juicy; flavorful. The green beans were very very tasty. I got lo mein as my other side which was also good. Everything was good but I loved the seasoned green beans the best. As I'm going to be in the area for a couple more days, I will be eating here each day. read more

I really don't understand what people are complaining about: "the quality went downhill," "the prices went up." Show me a restaurant on Earth that doesn't struggle with balancing those two as the cost of living continues to soar. All I know is that you get an OUTSTANDING platter with a SIZABLE portion of meat and OVERFLOWING with sides. I'm partial to the fresh fried catfish dinner, while my wife adores the baked dark meat chicken. Boiled cabbage, sauteed mushrooms, garlic green beans, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes: they're all there. How can you go wrong? read more

Service here was absolutely amazing. The staff were very friendly. James was the cashier and displayed such amazing hospitality to me. The process to order was smooth and the wait was not long. I went to the Levi's in Mitcheville MD earlier today (during the 5 pm hour). The young man at the counter..was not attentive and it was as though I was bothering him asking questions...he is so into his phone and the loud music with profanity in the restaurant.... when, my foods was ready...he threw the hot sauce and cornbread in the bad and said "I am pissing him off" for asking him to place those items in the bag. That was enough.....I asked for the manager which is an older guy and he said he can't find no better help and he's been there a lot time. We are in a sad state when we feel we need to tolerate poor customer service from anyone. This is unfortunate! Please think twice about visiting this restaurant. read more

I've dined at this restaurant before and after the renovations and change in management. The previous food quality and business management team left me with more to desire. The old customer service was in desperate need of improvement just to get to industry standards. The new management team and the food quality they produce seems better, however, still leaves me wanting more in both food quality and customer service. One day I drove by and saw the inside of the restaurant seemed to be renovated, so I stopped by to give them a try during lunch. They have lunch specials which lured me in. They offer a small discount on your lunch items when you purchase with cash. As far as the food is concerned, in my opinion it is good enough to pass if you have an urge for soul food and you desire something quick, however, much of their soul food menu items could benefit from being prepared with more pride and attention to detail. Heavily sauced proteins, overly sweet candied yams, and fried proteins overly crisp are all indicative of low quality preparation and lack of attention to detail. I visited this place for their lunch specials a few times to verify their quality and I'm convinced that what they have produced is their consistency. The food quality is low and their prices reflect it, so understand you get what you pay for. I think I'll stick with the fried whiting from now on, however I will give other lunch items a try if they look appeasing in the display. NOTE: the fried whiting is delicious. read more

Since the new management, I visited twice and same result with the Mac and cheese very box tasting and lack of seasoning. The bbq chicken was good but greens and cabbage weren't as seasoned as before. The fried catfish was good as well. Most of the meats are cooked well but the sides need improvement. I called the restaurant to place an order for for Whiting on January 30th at 5:55pm. The young man that answered the phone asked me what I wanted for sides. I asked him what were the options. What he said to me was you need to go on the website, figure out what you want and call back when you're ready to order. This is absolutely disgusting customer service and he should be retrained or fired. That is not how you talk to a customer. Needless to say, I hung up and will never support this business I did a quick search and found out that Horace and Dickies is open in Glen Arden, Maryland. And while it's 15 minutes longer to drive to it, it is well worth the customer service that I received on the phone when I asked them for Whiting and what my options were for sides. This is my go to spot for home cooking...the food is always good, well seasoned...reminds me of grandma's cooking and believe me that is an amazing feat. BTW, my grand loves the mac and cheese and don't leave out the whiting. I had one occasion where the turkey wings were on the fatty side....but as someone who cooks and loves home cooking I've had an occasion to dish up a bad batch...so they get a pass....99.9999% is not a bad average. read more

The sides are TRASH! However, the fried fish is good and a lot cheaper than Carolina Kitchen since they went up on their prices. I have found that if I order the fish sandwich and fries, I can't go wrong. I mean you can't eff up fries. The macaroni and cheese is made with cheap quality cheese and all the other sides look like they are over drenched in sauce and gravy. The young guys in the front are not the best with customer service, but as one reviewer stated, they are not nasty. Just not welcoming. Just visited Levi's after church. I had a taste for soul food and I was hoping that they had reopened since closing for remodeling!! The only thing that I enjoyed was the sweet tea! I asked for a half and half and noticed that the server was filling up my cup with pink lemonade for the half and half! If you don't get that this is a problem- you must NOT understand what half and half is!!! I then made the decision to cheat on my diet and ordered yellow cake with chocolate icing- the cake was totally dried out (too dry to even finish!). I noticed that the Mac and cheese was covered in slices of a cheap version of Kraft cheese slices!! Anyone that loves Soul Food -also knows that this is a NO NO!!! My Turkey wings weren't seasoned at all and the string beans had pepper emptied into them- I guess to avoid seasoning them! That young man they have working the register with the locks is HORRIBLE. He walked in reeking of weed. The smell was so strong it made my nose burn. Then he turned on hard core rap music with profanity and all. I love music but that type of music is not appropriate in the workplace. And, he kept looking at his phone, his attitude is raunchy and he treats customers like they are bothering him. This place has gone WAY DOWN. Levi's officially sucks. I have to say as in everything has it's day. The days are long gone for this place. The frontline workers are not customer friendly. The food looked unappealing. I hadn't gone to Levi's in about a year...I was reminded of why that was. Customer service was HORRIBLE. If you want to be treated like crap with no apologies, this is the place for you. I called in my order and the young lady told me it would be about 20 mins. I arrived in about 30 mins and she (the same young lady who answered the phone) told me the food wasn't ready. I asked again about 10 mins later...she again said it wasn't ready. After waiting for almost 30 mins, I asked again and she asked someone in the kitchen...who informed her the meal had been prepped a while ago. She grabbed my order with no apology and virtually no eye contact, she just told me the price. I said, so you had me waiting all this time and it was there all this time??? She just shrugged it off. I left before I made a scene. No business should have such poor customer service and expect people to keep coming back and spending their hard earned money there. Went to Levi's at the recommendation of a neighbor to order macaroni and cheese but as it was the day before thanksgiving they were all out. I actually needed it for Friday but they were closed on Friday as well. Decided to order something to eat as I was already there even though I was disappointed about the Mac n cheese. Ordered the seafood platter and they were out of trout and would only give me whiting as a substitute and not the catfish I asked for. Made the mistake of asking for the fried rica as one of the sides and was very disappointed as it was tough, was more like it was left on the heat too long or left over from the day before, very inedible. I could go on for paragraphs complaining about the hell it was working there and include video-recorded evidence of it (Yelp only allows photos) but this site is for customers to advise other consumers. So I'll leave out how the owner always did nothing about workplace sexual harassment/assault and just stick to the things that would concern you as the consumer. I no longer work in this hellhole (thank god) but allow me to spill the tea of just a handful of things that went on there. There was (and probably still is) a roach infestation there so bad that one time they lifted a large container that had been sitting in the same spot for a while and 1,000 roaches went scattering in every direction from floor to walls from it and one of the guys there just stood there spraying Raid all over in-the-KITCHEN where the food is prepared! I never had a roach in my house but one time after getting off of work I got my purse, went home, sat it down in my room and went to fix myself some food and took it back to my room to eat on a tray while I watched TV. A half an hour later I see the exact same kind of roach they had at Levies crawling on my food tray. I promptly killed it and made sure to wrap my purse in a plastic bag while I was at work from then on. I had never seen another roach in my house since. This nice friendly customer asked for a refill one day and luckily she didn't look down into her cup after taking the lid off. I took the cup from her and looked into it and saw 3 large dead roaches in it! I just told her I'd get her a new cup, not explaining the reason. Even the other employees checked their ice because roaches would get into the ice machine and get frozen into the ice cubes, which is probably how that happened. One time I was resting my arm on the countertop and felt something tickling my arm. I look and see a 1" roach crawling up my arm!! The only time I've been back there since I quit was only to pick up my W-2. I hope a meteor hits that place. read more

Wings were small and wasn't smothered. Gravy just poured over cooked wing before serving. Smothered mean to simmer the wings in gravy.

I normally don't post reviews about establishments, but the Levi's Restaurant in Mitchellville has forced my hand. I was served moldy cheesecake and no real effort was made to rectify the situation, or to prevent it from happening to other customers. If you continue to eat here, just be careful. Always a hit or miss. Stay away from the trout it was cold and taste like leftovers. The whiting is good on a good day, they gave me a bad order of that before. I've been working close by the Levi's restaurant in lake arbor for a couple weeks and had always heard about Levi's and so today I decided to check it out for myself for lunch. The restaurant is okay. Maybe a little dated in it's decor but it doesn't matter because I was getting takeout. The service is cafeteria style which is fine by me as well as I enjoy cafeteria style service. The young lady behind the counter who was serving was polite enough although she may have been a little short with me what I asked the difference between the lunch special and the regular meal. Yeah, I know that the lunch portion is going to be at the smaller, I was more asking about the options for sides as well as the entrees available. I guess I should have been clearer. Once again no big deal. The service was pretty fast. I was in and out in about 5 minutes. Of course there was no line so it was a breeze. I left a top in the tip jar because YOUR A JACK'S A$$ IF YOU DON'T TIP! And now here comes the pain!! I got the pork rib lunch special with two sides which were mashed potatoes and gravy and macaroni and cheese. I like for my sides have conjunctions in them. Of all these items the mac and cheese was the best. It had that real cheese flavor and was actually a pan of baked mac and cheese. Which is very different for most places that make a cheese sauce and then throw some macaroni in it. I always enjoy a strong effort like that. Thumbs up The mashed potatoes and gravy were okay. They were a bit more flavorful than what you would get from a fast food place like KFC, but they were still pasty and uninspired. (I like that. Uninspired, good word good word) There's not much to go on about them. Now for the star of the plate... the pork ribs! The main problem with them is they were kind of tough which is never good with pork ribs. Or for fact any food. The ribs had that kind of overcooked sort of leathery layer that comes when you overcook the ribs and leave them to dry out. The ribs were good sized and you get three of them with the lunch special but I found it a taxing experience to try to find the tender meat underneath a tough charred skin. By the time I got to the third rib I just wasn't really interested in continuing the fight. And you never let the food win. There was a thick quagmire of sweet smokey vinegary sauce that some people may like, it does have flavor, but there was a lot of it and what it was doing was covering up the ribs that has been overcooked and charred. (I see you under that sauce burnt dry bits. Can't hide from me!)I literally scraped the rib on the side of the container to get some of the sauce off the ribs. But I'm not a child, I've had some tough ribs from time to time. I was just hoping that I wouldn't be in the battle that I was in. I don't know what the turnaround time is for getting fresh ribs, but it wouldn't surprise me if these were ribs that were from previous the day. I don't blame restaurants for reusing product, but ribs are really tough to eat when they become overcooked and dry. aND these were overcooked. Not undercooked. Which would also make the ribs tough. The were tough. Sorry. They were tough. They do have a wide selection of items and I chose the ones that I wanted but also that I felt should be the easiest to prepare, present as ideas someone new to the restaurant and idea of quality of the food. Mind you I'm not saying that the quality of the food is low, but it wasn't what I would call... High. Just ok. I am kind of finicky and I'm also a bit critical in some cases but I always try to be fair. My assessment of Levi's restaurant is that it's good but not great. And to be honest the big chain City style barbecue place, you know the one I'm talking about, does make more tender BBQ. The portions at Levi's are much better but I don't know if I can finish this last rib. Not because I'm full, but I'm just not interested in finishing the fight. Chicken wings and 2 sides were brought home to me. The wings were really good, meaty and not too much coating and grease. The string beans were very "hot", I tried and even when I mixed the big with the mashed potatoes I just couldn't do it. The food has gone down terribly. The food is NASTY! Over the years it keeps getting worst. Tonight was so bad I took two bites and threw in the trash. The rice was plain and tasteless. The corn had no season and was straight out the can no hi t of pepper or butter. The turkey wings were too dry and too salty. The aide of greens were straight from the can. It looked horrible.
