So incredibly disappointed in the customer service of Levine and Sons. I called regarding issues with a past service and got on the line with what I THOUGHT was a person. After struggling for a while with the "person" on the phone, it revealed it was AI or a "digital assistant" as it called itself. The AI was completely unable help me and I finally got put through to a real human being. However, that human was from a third party answering service and not the company. After even more struggling, I finally was able to get access to a human who actually worked for the company and was able to help me. This is absolutely ridiculous that I had to go through such a process just to get a human who could help me fix an issue that Levine and Sons caused. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Levine and Sons due to the way they have prioritized the use of AI over the humanity of their customers and workers. So disappointed. read more

Don't Let This Happen To You! We reached out to several companies to replace a working but very old boiler and selected Levine & Sons, which had been attentive up until we gave them our down payment for the work. That's where things started going off the rails... We were told we'll need asbestos abatement, and Levine works closely with a company that would come out to do it. After several scheduled boiler installs work delays due to conflicts with Levine & Son, when Levine & Sons finally came out to begin the work, the identified asbestos abatement work hadn't been done and the installers had to leave... After some difficulty in contacting the Project Manager (PM) (we'll call him Leeland), he apologized for the mix up and assured us there would be no more hiccups.... Next, we were given assurances (in writing) there would be continuity of heat between the asbestos abatement (Saturday) and the boiler install on Thursday. During the Saturday's abatement it was determined there was asbestos in the boiler and it could not be used until a new one was installed 4 days later. The abatement company (great folks at BDS Environmental!) notified the project manager at Levine & Sons. Leeland never relayed the message to us and we're left trying to figure out how to turn on a boiler that was not meant to be turned back on, in the sub 20's temps. We were not able to get a hold of the PM until Monday morning, and I had to catch up the PM after we directly reached out to BDS Environmental on what had happened since Leeland went AWOL. I urged the PM to get a team here sooner than Thursday, which he did, but that was to the detriment to yet another customer. In between this, my family moved to a warm hotel room for four days and I kept a fire going to keep the pipes and dogs from freezing. read more

I would not recommend Levine & Sons for any plumbing service. I needed same day service and they were able to come out but could not quote a price for a standard garbage disposal. That should have been my first clue to run away. Once here a $150 disposal + $89 show up fee + less than an hour labor, cost $826. Just to let you know there was no same day charge or hidden fee, just price gouging. I was quoted $350 elsewhere but could not wait two days as I was entertaining and needed my kitchen sink/disposal. When I wrote a google review they asked me to contact them to rectify the situation. So I called. All they said was sorry we charge so much and that they can not tell us over the phone the cost of a garbage disposal. They said they guarantee there work as part of the cost. Any reputable company guarantees their work for free. Just saying. They are now on my no call list!!!! read more

They would not give an estimate over phone (or even range) paid the $ 89.00 "travel fee" for a very rude tech to tell me it would cost $ 598.00 plus the travel fee to install a $35.00 valve. My guess $ 15.00 in materials less than 30 mins of labor. I called a local plumber Cummings here in Plymouth - no travel fee - quoted valve cost and $ 85.00 per hour. I should have read the reviews before I hired Levine and Sons. My water heater went out, so I called for a few estimates. Their price was in the middle, but they offered a ten year warranty, so I went with them. When the installer showed up, he said they did not have the 40-gallon heater that I ordered, but had a 50 gallon for $100 more. I needed water, so I agreed. After the installation that went okay, I noticed the heater gas consumption was pointing to the least efficient rating possible. So I read the review of the brand, which came up pretty negative. But I had a ten year warranty, so I thought it would be okay. But I noticed that their paperwork said that the warranty is only valid if I buy a $299 annual "Family" plan that covers inspections to my equipment, but does not cover any work on them. That is $3000 of inspection fees to insure a $2000 water heater. I called their office to see what is the warranty without buying the annual inspection fees, and they didn't know. Said they needed to talk to the Plumbing Director. Did not hear back, so I called a week later and was told he got the message and would call me back. Another week and no call back. I suggest to go with another company that gives an honest warranty. read more

I had a plumbing issue and when the guy arrived I explained what was happening and he immediately said I needed to have my septic tank pumped without even looking at anything. He stood in my house and without doing one bit of inspection/investigation summarily said you need to have your septic tank pumped. How a person can say that without looking at anything and not willing to look at anything, is beyond me. I reached out for a quote for a sewer liner and was put in touch with Ron Moore. He was amazing! He came out on his day off and took a look at the pipes with a camera, educated me on why Jetting would be saver than a metal root cutter (due to a crack in my pipe that protrudes) and explained every thing very carefully. He wasn't pushy at all and seemed very genuine and honest. He was also looking at other possible options that would be less expensive. I was very happy with his input, knowledge he shared, and the fact that he didn't charge me. Definitely earned me as a customer. GARBAGE DISPOSAL INSTALLATION Let me start off by saying that I have used Levine and Sons on two previous occasions with better results than experienced this last visit. My garbage disposal was leaking and I knew that it needed to be replaced. I only wish i had seen the review written by Angela N written 3 months ago regarding her garbage disposal repair experience or demanded a pre-estimate before the repair person came out. Like the previous review I was quoted an $89 service charge which is not applied to the service. There was no upfront pricing on the labor. That should have been a red flag! I purchased the garbage disposal myself thinking I would save time and money only requiring installation. Just before installation began the repair person quoted me $589 for "customer provided" garbage disposal. Add that to the service charge I paid $609 for a $149.00 customer-provided garbage disposal. My family was angry with me for paying that much but because it was late on Friday afternoon and I had been without the use of my sink for 3 days I paid it. Believe me I still feel sick about it because I know family that would have done it for free or maybe $100 but I did not want to wait until they were available. I am posting this review to spare some else the expense. If you do not get a quote in advance or get another comparable quote you are probably going to get over charged. The tone of her voice changed and she stated that we don't serve Pontiac, MI. When I asked why does your website have Pontiac listed as an area that you serve. I had a leak from my furnace a while back that was dripping onto the wood floors for a while before I realized it was from the heater or from the humidifier unit. The tech was quiet, efficient and easily found the leak. He sealed it up quickly and it's been a while and no more leaks since. They will even pay $50 for the old furnace, whenever I get a new one. I had some issues with the first round of service, but after talking it over with their people, they had someone out immediately, to make it right. There was an attempt to charge additional dollars, but once I said I wasn't happy about that, my technician checked with his manager and the additional fees were waved. Would I go back? Reached out 3 wks prior to current heatwave to maintain/check AC as it was slightly acting up - temp was climbing on thermostat and never reaching set point, it would cycle and cycle and run for hours before I gave up and turned it off myself. Had appt set for 3 wks, and as it got closer and problem got worse I reached out to move up appt. They said they were slammed and I should just keep set appt. I did. Day before appt, they decided I was low priority, and texted to move me, tho I was previously told they were booked past Independence Day. I had an obvious issue, and was told I was low priority. I found this v rude since I had the due diligence to call ahead and was anticipating my appointment. Day of appt there was a lot of mix up w who would be coming. Appt was @ 2, @215 I got a call that tech was busy and they'd send someone else between 1-3 hours later. I said ok.... they called again and someone was available, great. Requested Jim as he'd done our furnace two yrs prior and work for our extended family for decades. Unfortunately, I caught him checked out and weeks from retirement. He came in w an attitude, I suspect because I said 'no' when they asked to chg my appt. I explained my issue to multiple people at the company, including Jim. He looked at thermostat.... looked only, didnt touch it or look at settings. Pulled out my air filter at furnace and decided that its 'an outside issue'. Didnt pull out a tool or open furnace. Went outside, said I was low on refrigerant. Told me low coolant likely due to a pinhole sized leak 'somewhere'. Didn't bother to look for it. Mistook the age of my AC and furnace, told me I was at the end of its lifespan, and if I didnt get new units, I should just keep filling coolant, which could last end of summer, or 2 more years if I am lucky... my units are 14 years old and have life left....incorrect analysis. He waited for AC to come down 1 degree, told me to wait until morning, and carried on about his retirement plans. Side bar, was very annoyed he walked through my house w his disgusting boots that have been in everyone elses yards and homes- GET FOOTIES PLS! He charged me $369 which included the 'service' or lack of, and 2lbs of coolant. Problem wasnt solve. AC continued to climb and not cycle. I called the emergency line out of frustration and woman, Theresa, who answered was extremely rude. Asking me basic questions and advising me to do things that honestly insulted my intelligence, like turning off the 'fan' which had been off all day. Never apologized. Said someone would be out 'first thing' 8-10a. No one came, no called. Stood up! No apology. I ended up texting to say forget it and got 'ok'.... This company has poor customer service, is unfriendly, and UNPROFESSIONAL! I had a male friend at home w me and a male neighbor in HVAC who caught Jim in driveway and he talked crap about how "they always think its the thermostat because it seems the cheapest route, but we get them for 69 bucks and charge the homeowners 300+". Run....don't walk away from these scammers. I had a back-up in my basement caused by roots from a big city tree in my front yard that the city won't remove. They sent first guy to "camera" the sewer line, said he couldn't see much (yes, there was water in there which I could see) and would need another crew to hyrdro-jet it, which cost $1400 and had to bring their "supervisor." I was OK with that if it solved the problem. They made a big show of telling me I'd have to have my entire front yard dug up to the city sewer line. They said there was a "belly" (a low spot) in my sewer line that was causing the problem. I only called them because it was a holiday weekend, and I couldn't get anyone else, and I was willing to pay that if it solved my problem. So.....I just didn't trust them. I got another company to come out who I have used before to excavate my basement due to rotting pipes (which was legitimate, I could see it myself) and who my plumber recommends for sewer problems. Plumber who came today said "bellies" are relatively common and it's probably been there since my house was built...in 1971. It's a dip in the pipe. And where it is is NOT where these scammers said. Today's plumber (who I trust) said I have NO broken sewer pipes, no separations, they looked fine to him and to just have the sewer cleaned once a year due to the city tree in my front yard which caused the roots. I have a low spot in my front yard which was likely caused by lawn company WHO USED HEAVY EQUIPMENT WHEN I TOLD THEM NOT TO or just the ground settling. My front yard has always had dips in it. I've lived here 25 years. Other things I was told by these "experts" were contradicted by the plumber I trust. The price to dig up my yard started at $7-8,000.....then went to $20,000 if they had to connect to the city line. Today, they sent me an estimate for $40,000!!!! I'd walk away from this house before I paid that. They are out of their minds. IF I have to have excavation, it won't be this company. They are scammers. STAY AWAY. I will NEVER call them again. They think because I'm a woman, I'm stupid. I didn't trust them, so I got a second opinion from people I trust, and I'm glad I did. It's sad that companies like this get away with this kind of bull. UPDATE: They sent a restoration company out to fix the mess Saturday evening. They threw out all of our belongings that had sewage on them, and cleaned and disinfected the two bathrooms. They will be sending another company out to clean the carpets. Originally we were told that because it's raw sewage, they would have to remove the carpeting, but because their moisture meter didn't return any moisture readings (5 days later), they are just going to send someone to clean them. Currently out over $800 in belongings that had to be thrown away, still no resolution on how they plan to handle that.... more to come. UPDATE: As of today, we still are missing ceiling tiles in the basement, and the "project manager" has yet to call and schedule to replace. We have had a carpet cleaning company out to clean the carpets (Modernistic- did a fantastic job!), however Jim Levine has yet to return a phone call and the restoration company he sent out, sent me a bill!! Furthermore, after all of this occurred, I'm beginning to believe that the Confederate Flag toting tech that they sent to my house intentionally destroyed our home because of my Biden/Harris and BLM signs in the front of the house. They charged $69 for just a visit, this amount is in addition to the service. I had a $317 quote (plus 69 for visit) for replacing the basket strainer of the sink. They didn't have the part ready and when I asked why it was so expensive, the person said because of the name of the company and pointed out his logo. He could not articulate any valid reason besides that one. I called a different company, a friendly person came the same day, he had the part ready, and fix the leak in 45 minutes. I paid $150 part included. So I ended up having a bad experience, and paid $69 just for a crazy quote and bad service. Way to go for this company! read more

"let's just do the primary project and i'll let the other two projects go." i told him. his exact words escape me, it was to the tune of "yeah, i knew you couldn't afford it." still wanting to get the job done, i told him to go ahead, he said, he would get the materials from his truck. leaving the house he said "i'm going to use the front door because i had to park far away." seriously? you're going to be going back and forth through my living room because you don't want to walk another forty feet? so much levine and company customer respect, as if there was any to begin with. as soon as he was out the door, my husband said "get rid of that guy!" i did. at his truck,, i told him we would not be doing business, paid the 89 dollars and sat down to write the business owner, jimmy levine, a letter of complaint which, after 24 hours, he has not yet responded to, i doubt he will, hence this posting. bad behavior all the way around from plumber to owner. hire them as often as you like but be aware of your status as a number they carry nothing about. should the owner ever respond to me, i will post that here, out of fairness. read more

This is the second time I have used this company at a rental home. The first time I used them the job was in a crawl space. The toilet had to be removed and the floor needed to be stabilized from in the crawl space. I also needed a sink replaced in that bathroom. There was also a large cast iron pipe that was leaking in the crawl space under the kitchen sink area. It was close to 100 degrees and Mike hardly took any breaks. He did a great job!! I used them again today at a rental property. There was a gurgling noise in the pipes under the kitchen sink. Scott and Anthony snaked down the vent pipe from the roof. Sure enough that was the problem. They were so efficient, friendly, professional and clean. I have decided this is the only company I will be using for my rental properties. read more

Very professional and effective service. I had a clogged toilet drain from my kids stuffing too much toilet paper and etc in the toilet and Levine & Sons took care of it right away. When the plug first happened I went to Home Depot and bought various snakes and chemicals to try and clear up the problem with no success. After spending over $120. on methods that didn't work I came across Levine & Sons add online for $99 drain cleaning. I wish I would've called them first. Then I would've saved time, money, stress and not have to deal with the gross job myself. I will definitely call them again if I ever have another issue. read more

We had a drain backup in the basement on New Years Eve. I ran through the list of plumbers, and Levine & Sons was the first and only one to call me back! They advised me on the phone of holiday rates versus regular rates, and were very candid about the pricing throughout the conversation and appointment. Mike O'Neal was the technician that came out. Mike was kind, thorough, fixed the issue, and educated me on how to prevent it in the future. He also told me about their service plan and some longer term options that would fix the problem (we have mature trees in the yard). He was not pushy about it, but gave me several options to consider. When finances free up this summer, I will certainly sign up for their service plan and have them come back out for the long term fixes. Mike has earned my business! read more

I had The unfortunate need of a plumber and as I owned at one time my own business I use this company and at the time which was approximately three years ago they were very reasonable. But that is no longer the case I had a leak a few days ago under my sink. My normal plumber was unavailable so I thought about Levine and sons plumbing and I thought I'd give them a try. I made a mistake a huge mistake my son had come by consequently prior to Levine and son arriving at my home and he stop the leak. Now I'm not sure whether or not they were fabricating problems or whether or not the necessity of changing the valves all four of the valves under my two sinks was necessary but I went on their advice and I had them change the valves the cost of changing the shut off valves was almost $800. Needless to say that was a ridiculous amount of money and I called and expressed my feelings to the receptionist that answered the call and asked her to have the owner of the company give me a call. He never bothered to call me back clearly he didn't care whether or not I was upset about the $800 so I'm recommending to anyone and everyone out there who needs a plumber definitely do not use this company. Our water heater died late on a Sunday night. Called them Monday, and they sent a tech right out. They were clear on what the out call cost would be, then clear about what costs and product would be for us. They described what and how the particular unit would be best for us. The tech was polite, friendly, and installed the new water heater within about 3 hours. I was very happy with them and would not hesitate to recommend them or use then again. read more

First off they didn't arrive when they were supposed to, so they rescheduled to the afternoon. When I called, I asked for a quote on how much it would be to install a faucet and I was told the technician would have to quote me. When the technician came he pulled up standard pricing which was $380 for the kitchen faucet and $350 for the bathroom faucet. There is no reason that the person who booked me couldn't have given me that range of costs. They were going to charge me a visit fee on top of that but since they missed their first appointment they waived it. I paid over $700 for the installation of one faucet and a partial install of another faucet which took less than 4 hours. Since then, my kitchen sink has been backing up so I called them back and asked them to come look at the install to see if how the technician ran the PVC piping could be causing the standing water. They called and said it would be $199 minimum because they would have to send a drain expert along with the guy to see if the install was done correctly. I thought after paying $700 that their work should be guaranteed. We did not have a standing water issue before he installed the new faucet and I am not going to pay anymore for overpriced services. read more
