I have bought two rifles and two pistols, some crates of ammo and cleaning supplies at lever arms over the last three years. If I wasn't banned, I would never go there again and hope no one else will. My overall experience was mediocre at best. However, when I had a surplus rifle from lever checked for headspacing at another store, the gunsmith told me that the rifle was UNSAFE to fire. I took the rifle back to lever and explained what I had found out and their response was unbelievably poor. They were hostile to me and insulted that I would go to another store. When I asked if the rifle had been head spaced before it was put on the rack for sale, one of the employees replied "probably not"!! They said they wanted a second opinion and have their gunsmith look at the rifle. I agreed. I come back two days later and they tell me that the rifle does indeed have excessive headspace and may or may not be safe to fire. GREAT! I asked for my money back but the employee responds by showing me a generic store receipt which in tiny writing states that: "Used and surplus rifles are sold as is." If they were going to tell me that, why exactly did lever take the rifle to another gunsmith? Apparently, I am told by the employee, there are also two signs on the wall stating the store's policy. But who looks at signs stating store policy when you are looking to buy a gun? In addition, someone with poor eye sight may not be able to read the policy on the receipt or the signs. Consequently, according to lever, somehow, I am fully responsible and lever thinks they are devoid of all liability. However, in my belief, lever has to ensure duty of care that their products do not harm the purchasers through no fault of their own. Why wouldn't lever arms have a rifle checked for safety before selling it? Or at least telling the customer beforehand that the rifle needs to be checked for headspace. Is lever arms not concerned about the safety of its customers? This is something you would expect from an unscrupulous person not from a gun store which has been around for 45 years. When I purchased the rifle and ammunition for it, no one verbally told me of their policy or the need for the rifle to be checked for headspacing. When I tore up the receipt that I was given by the employee, he banned me. Anyways long story short if you are still shopping at lever arms remember my experience because you may be next. Also, I have a suggestion for a new advertising slogan: "You will spent $350 and all you will have to show for it is this paper weight. Cherrio!" read more
