Pretty responsive as far as generating the quote for a mold and asbestos remediation.read more

New Image Restoration was hired for a fee of $1,000 plus tax to remediate a mold issue measuring 2'…read morex 1' x 2' x 1' located within the wooden structure above the bathroom ceiling (sheetrock). The contractor(s) from New Image Restoration removed and disposed of approx. 2' x 4' x 2' x 4' of the ceiling (sheetrock) that exhibited signs of mold, treated the exposed wood with a mold and mildew killer, identified the source of a leak, and recommended that I hire a plumber. I found the quality of the work to be satisfactory however, the identification of the leak was inaccurate, as no pipes were found to be leaking. The contractors were courteous and presented identification upon request before entering my home. Nevertheless, I consider the cost of the work particularly expensive for seniors given that it represents only (1) component of a (3) part job. Additionally, I was asked to sign a blank contract that stipulated a 50% charge, the cost was not explicitly detailed in the agreement. I had to inquire further to clarify this matter. Despite the fact that New Image Restoration was aware of my insurance company's $500 deductible, I was required to pay (2) both payments of $500 plus. Moreover, I began to receive multiple invoices totaling over $1,500 for services such as drywall repair, patchwork, priming, and painting, which were not performed by New Image Restoration or Super Steamer Carpet. It was also concerning to discover that New Image Restoration billed me through a subcontractor, Super Steamer Carpet, without prior notification regarding the involvement of subcontractors. Ultimately, I found it necessary to hire multiple contractors to complete the work on the ceiling mold issue. This experience has underscored the importance of inquiring about the entire scope of a project, including a comprehensive written description and a complete estimation of costs, accounting for any deductions.

The project was mold removal and master bathroom rebuild where we went through homeowners'…read moreinsurance. Project started on 11/8/24 and finished on 1/15/25. The project was originally supposed to be completed on 12/19/24 as communicated by the Dr. Fix-It team but the timeframe kept getting pushed back due to miscellaneous issues including but not limited to, scheduling, broken parts, wrong parts being ordered, work just generally taking longer than anticipated. The contractors consistently put in about 6 hours days (arrived around 9am and would leave by 4pm and take a lunch at 12pm). We went with Dr. Fix-It because of their positive reviews and they were responsive to our initial call. Unfortunately, with our home project, we had quite a few unexpected issues arise. One frustration I had with this team was their inability to set expectations properly. It was evident the project would not be completed by 12/19 but we had to call daily for updates where they would continue to tell us it would be finished by xx day and when xx day arrived, they'd say they need another xx hours to complete the job for xx reason. This was the cycle and it was frustrating. We worked with quite a few contractors for this project - Kevin did the mold removal and he was 10/10 great. He was professional, communicative, and kind. He also helped quite a bit when it came to working with the adjuster. It was a stressful time for us as this issue occurred spontaneously but Kevin really made us feel like he would take care of us, and he did. We did not really work well with Keith and his style of communicating. He is pretty reactive and gets frustrated easily. He does a lot of the behind the scenes work, so luckily you wouldn't have to communicate with him regularly. There was one instance where he was yelling over the phone when prompted for an updated timeframe. The contractors who did the rebuild of our bathroom did good work but they need a lot of direction and made mistakes they had to fix along the way. We felt that Keith should have allocated more resources to our project at times especially because we were weeks off target. For such a large project, and having one contractor on-site for ~6 hours a day, the progress was often disappointing. They gave us two contractors a day once the project was already severely over-due. Due to project delays, they had to lay the new carpet prior to finishing the rebuild of the bathroom. About halfway through, our project was assigned a Project Manager, Kim. No complaints about her, she did her job well and we were happy to be communicating with her over Keith. The project was taking so long that I touched up their paint job in the master, and painted most of the bathroom myself. We also had to do all of the cleaning. For example, they were cutting tile etc in the master bedroom and we cleaned every inch of that room ourselves. They ordered the wrong size shower doors twice and finally got it on their third try (and then ultimately put them on wrong). The shower door issue alone pushed out the project over a week. Overall, their attention to detail, cleanliness, communication and respect could be improved on. They left us with the following issues after we had (unfortunately) already signed and paid them in full on the last day - We have no hot water in our shower (the temperature control shower handle is only able to reach cold), the shower isn't sealed properly and water leaks outside of the shower, all of the shower doors need to be flipped 180 degrees (door handle is on right hand side vs left and it's difficult to get out of the shower +extremely impractical), they swapped hot and cold water supply on one of our faucets + water leaks inside the vanity, they dinged pretty much every surface in existence inside our house and in the newly renovated bathroom. Do not sign that the project is complete until you have tested everything. They will offer to fix their mistakes for a cost if you've already signed. We are hiring different contractors to fix Dr. Fix-Its mistakes.
