Down to Earth has been a favorite store in Grand Haven. I stopped in today to look around and was…read moremet by a wonderful sales associate. I found (3) items to try on and she placed them in the dressing room. She took time to check back in to see if there was anything I needed and was very helpful. Checking out with the owner was another experience. She rang up a necklace and the looked at the price tag on the jacket, I had hoped to purchase. She looked at me and said the wrong price was on the jacket. "Obviously someone has put a different price tag on this coat", With that, she ripped the price tag off and looked at me as if I had replaced the tag. I told her I did not that that was the tag that was on the coat. The tag did not look like it had been tampered with, and I was not sure where she was going with her acquisition. There were a number of other customers standing around the check out counter. I was embarrassed with the way she handled this. . Needless to say, I did not purchase the jacket. She may have had a bad day. I hope she treats her other customers better than she did today.

They pretty much have everything a disc golfer would need. The store has a nice ma and pop shop vibe. DJ was super friendly and the transaction was easy and took less than two minutes. I was so excited to arrive, it's attached to the mall with plenty of parking in what I feel was an old Toys-r-us. The store is MASSIVE and so well organized. There was a section for funko pops, plushies, apparel, used toys, new toys (xmen, dc, marvel, horror movies, etc), comics, hot wheels, legos, collectible cards, candy and more. The staff were super friendly and willing to help me find the items I was looking for. The prices on the items can range from a steal of a deal to a little pricey. I absolutely loved this store though and will for sure make sure to always come back when out visiting.

Time has not been good to the joint, and with the advent of online sales and hearty competition from the likes of Game Hits, Game Stop and their ilk, it's a small wonder this place can even stay in business. I mean, it's certainly not the service that keeps people coming back to this ashtray of a pawn shop; no matter who is behind the counter, they automatically fix a piercing glare on you the moment you walk in the store, as though you just interrupted a hostage negotiation or called the owner's mother a name. It truly baffles me that money ever changes hands in there. Even back in the day, their selection of games was anemic; now it's just plain sad - I mean, if you want to buy 12 copies of NHL 94 for your Genesis, hey, this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay FAR away...even if you are desperate for cash, do not bring in your games unless you want a laughable fraction of what you could get for them on eBay or Amazon. Just...seriously. Don't go to the Exchange. It's dirty, the people are mean, and you leave the store with the feeling that a part of your humanity was somehow left behind.

I don't know how organized they are business wise...we placed an order for a specific item and they never called us back meaning a $75 lost tutus sale for them, and an irritating bummer for us. We aren't terribly fussy people, but I know many who would be put off by it enough to not return. They've got great product...it's going to need to be customer service that is going to keep them afloat in this risky economic climate. Price wise, this place isn't too bad. Check out similar boutiques in large cities and you'll see what I mean. I have lots of little fashionistas in my family. The new stock goes fast, and I just can't be at the store every day trying to snag what I want. Hopefully they get a better ordering system in place so we can do more business.
