First of all, the owner was super rad, and we talked for probably about an hour. She was super personable and told me about how she came to open the store. Her dog, a gorgeous black Lab named Zoe, kept coming up for love rubs and giving me her toys. The store was curated with such great finds. Lots of cool, pristine, vintage finds and some new home decor thrown in as well. It was the best of both worlds. She certainly has an eye for design flair (I guess she also helps with interior design). I loved the mid century sofa she had on display- it was in perfect condition and a great price. There is a candle- just one candle - that smells amazzinng. It's their "signature" Pentwater scent. Just walk into the store, and you'll be like "what is that?!" Yeah; two of those came home with me. I ended up piling stuff on the counter and then mentioned I didn't know how I was going to pack it all in my luggage. She took the time to wrap everything well and put some things in boxes to protect it during my trip back to Cali. I love supporting independent, local businesses mostly because I own one myself. I know what it takes to make something like this work, and it's not easy. I give props to the owner for creating such an inviting and cute boutique where customer service is obviously the main staple of the business. I caught a negative review on here, which shocked me. I'm kinda calling BS. The owner was super cool with me- like we should go get beers cool! Please stop by and support cool places like this!

HOWEVER, let it be known...I'm not sure I have ever been in a more bizarrely unwelcoming and aggressively hostile shop. I have traveled all over the world...and certainly all over Michigan...and no shop has ever had more security cameras, rules posted, and snarky, rude negative employees. It is so off-putting I do my best to avoid it. For a tourist village, this shop is actively making it known they don't care about welcoming customers and they are clearly maniacally paranoid. Enter at your own risk. Are the candles pleasant? Yes. But it's not worth the experience you are forced to go through to make a purchase.

I loved the scent blends they provided for us. The staff is super helpful and made the whole thing super fun! The most recent visit was on valentines for a date night. They were busy but we still felt like the staff was attentive and walked us through the full process. This is a luxury experience but you get both the time making candles together plus the candles, so I'd say it's worth the money. There's tons of scents and vessels to choose from and we had a blast picking and making them. Anyone with any level of "craftiness" would enjoy coming here!

I picked a base for my candle and my wife had hers turned into wax melts. They have tons of bases to pick from in all different sizes. They had so many different scents that it's honestly overwhelming. We eventually each picked a variety of scents to blend together and made our wax. The entire date didn't take very long but luckily there are tons of places to go after within walking distance. You have to come back a different day to pick up what you made once it turns into a candle!

We also loved the variety of candles they offered. Not only do they offer candles, but they also had tea towels as well as other items. One of my favorite things we purchased was a candle kit for two (they also had a candle making kit for four!). It's a great kit for a cute little date night or a fun day with friends! You also get to choose the scents for the candles as well. What's also great about Sable Candle is that you can drop off your candle containers (or any container) for a refill. You can also send your container in to be refilled by mail if you're out of state! I'll definitely be back for more candles!

All they said was was that I had no idea why and that was my opinion that it has no flavor. That that wasn't their opinion that they could taste a tiny bit and they said basically that's all they could do. So they already helped me out so much. The owner wouldn't come back again and talk to me. He said he was busy doing something. So I wasted 140 bucks on a vape with no flavor. I will never come back to the store. extremely disappointed.. and I will make sure to spread that around.
