Want to play with sand without having to deal with the beach and ocean debris? Well Leucadia Oaks…read morePark is close enough to the beach to give you that clean crisp air but far enough so you won't be bogged down with parking or other patrons. You can have an enjoyable morning or afternoon visit with your kiddos and be fresh enough to grab a bite and move onto your other adventures for the day. This playground has a variety of structures including slides, swings, climbing rings, and stepping platforms in addition the abundance of sand. In addition, there are plenty of benches and picnic tables for shared meal outdoors as well as a basketball hoop and skate park for those looking to take a break from the sand. For those looking forward to playing with sand, well you're in luck! They have an accessible water station (filtered water too for drinking) to help add that extra rigidity to your sand castles. There's a bit of grass for running but not a whole lot for field play. Otherwise, it's still good for picnicking. The park is rather quiet and it seems mainly locals come out here (most walked to and from the park). With that said, there's plenty of parking along the side of the park should you decide to commute out here. Overall, this park was pleasant and allowed our kids to experience sand as if they were at the beach and also play on a classic playground. Great place to soak in some sun for about half to a full hour before lunch or nap time (for the kids but I guess us adults too!)

We had an extremely disappointing experience at our son's very first swim lesson…read more When we arrived, the front desk employee was on a personal phone call. We waited until she finished and told her we were there for our first swim class. Instead of checking us in or explaining where to go, she simply pointed toward the outdoor pool area and told us to "go ask a lifeguard." This is a large facility with multiple pools and lessons happening at the same time. Since we'd never been there before, we wandered around trying to figure out where our instructor was. A lifeguard pointed us to another pool, but there was still no one directing us. We eventually had to interrupt an instructor to ask if he knew where we should be. At that point, the instructor asked for our son's name, looked at the child he was currently teaching, and realized he was teaching the wrong student. His response was that because the other family had arrived first, he would just teach both children together. We had prepaid for a private lesson specifically because our son has never had swim lessons before. Sharing the lesson with another child was not what we paid for or expected. We ultimately requested a refund and left without our son ever having his first lesson. Everyone can make mistakes, but this experience reflected a lack of organization from start to finish. There was no check-in process, no guidance for first-time families, and no clear communication about instructor assignments. For a business teaching young children around water, I expected much better organization and professionalism.

This event was well received by the community...more than 30 people (mixed age groups) showed up to volunteer. It was AWESOME!! This beauuutiful 42-acre park contains the largest public tennis complex in the city (10 tennis courts and 6 pickleball courts), basketball court, baseball/softball fields, a multi-sport turf arena, alongside a modern playground, designated dog park area, and shaded picnic areas. Major pluses are restrooms, drinking fountains, and free parking. I definitely recommend this green space and family-friendly park to the Yelp Community :-)

The few times I've been here has been enjoyable and everyone (including dogs) have been very amicable. The dog park is very well kept and like how they have some little obstacles courses for the dogs. The pickleball courts are also very nice but there are some areas that have been worn out, mostly behind the baseline. But nice seating area and efficient paddle system to rotate people in and out. I only wish it was closer to me.
