This place is great! GREAT selection of fish. Don't expect PetSmart cuz it's not. It's the old school type! Love it!

Went in on a whim, just stopped in because it was next door to our destination. We were mortified by the conditions. Full grown chameleon in a baby tank. Many of the animals couldn't even turn around because they had such small tanks. The parrots are clearly stressed, we know because of the visible excessive grooming. Left feeling heartbroke, wanted to take so many of the animals home to save the them from the conditions but it is important to not give animal abusers (like this!) any money to continue. I always try to support small and local but definitely not this pet store. read more

I love birds and spent years raising cockatiels, zebra finches and parakeets. went into this store for the first time and was immediately hit with the smell of dirty cages, and poor ventilation. Pairs of cockatiels were $499.95 per pair.if anyone would pay that much, have them vet checked. read more

Fish are way overpriced (ie swordtail is 7.99 and at Pet Supermarket in Thruway they are 3.99). Mortality rate also seems to be high as well. I've had fish die before I got them home. Many tanks are dirty and with dead or sickly looking fish. Not going back read more

The saddest pet store i've ever been to the first picture i included was a picture from a review from a year ago, and then when i went in and saw the same bird a few days ago. They claim he already looks like that from previous plucking, but as you can tell in the video he's still grooming/plucking and his feathers are all over the ground. You can tell how much worse he looks in the first picture, it's not previous it's still happening. There was a humongous bunny in a "capturing" like cage that probably couldn't even turn its body around. I reported to PETA and they were concerned with the pictures I have of the bird but wanted more of the rest of the place, and report to local animal control, since they are responsible for enforcing state animal laws. Unfortunately I don't live in town so if anyone sees this, report all your pictures to them !!! This place needs shut down, it was my first and last time ever going in there. The staff are very friendly, but the living conditions for the animals are really sad. I go there almost weekly to pick up feeder mice for my 2 snakes. Last week I went in, there was a rat snake with stuck shed (something I have seen A LOT here), respiratory issues, and what looked to be mouth rot. I can't complain about the smell that the other reviews say there is, as it always smells pretty clean when I go in. A lot of their animals have seemed unhealthy and in small enclosures, such as a medium-sized rabbit in a tiny cage under their birds that had been there for at least 2 months. read more

So disappointed... lifelong shopper lost! we purchased a $200 chinchilla on the 2nd not so sure it was healthy from start. Unfortunately it passed on the 7th at 2 in the morning. first let's pet tried to blame family for death saying we didn't take care of it properly. ( side note: we have 3 other grown chinchillas and 2 newborns. We have an entire room dedicated to them full of cages, toys, and anything they could ever need or want). we I argued that the "manager" then pulled the 5 day warranty card... ( bought on 2nd-passed on morning going into 8th).. oops sorry one day too late, not our problem... this place has turned into a joke... save your money shop somewhere els.... again so disappointed read more

Great customer service honestly! helped me picked out exactly what I needed great prices on feeder rats and mice I love the reptiles that they have the tarantulas also there variety of fish! A lot of the prices are amazing honestly! and the rats are pretty awesome I got one for a pet and it wasn't aggressive at all not like Petsmart Very calm and relax now i've not been able to purchase any reptiles quite yet but from the looks Adam healthy now another thing is though these animals are Brought to him to whom ever bring some In so I do feel like it's very important to look at the animal very carefully look at certain signs to see if there was a sickness or anything going on! From the looks are bearded dragons I didn't see no dehydration no curves spines or nothing very alert! All we have ever bought from there are feeder mice! but recently I bought a small rat he's super sweet and loving and like I said before Petsmart is one of the places I bought my first ever rat and that was one of the worst decisions I've ever made I would rather buy from let's pet than the bigger pet shops! And the process for them are so much better I have recommended all my friends who have snakes to come to this place! Because a lot of different places I found in Winston charges five dollars just for one mouse! My rat cost four dollars! I'm not Petsmart I had to pay near the $20-$30 for mine! They have a wide selection of used products for good deals. The animals look sick and are in bad conditions. The fish tanks are so gross. The mice have dirty cages and no toys. The birds that are "store pets" chew on the wall and have ripped out their feathers. I included pictures of them. They should not be allowed to have these birds. read more

This store is very disgusting, as in lack of cleanliness. The fish tanks look dirty, they are green with algae, and my friend noticed the lemon Oscar they had has fin rot. My friend was looking for a filter, and he was looking at the used ones. He needed help with finding the correct size cartridge for it, and the lady that was there didn't seem to know or care what type of cartridge was needed. She also didn't seem to know how to even take the filter apart and put it back together. To make matters worse, we noticed when we got back to his apartment (in Concord), that the cord to the filter was chewed in two places and had wires exposed. We called the store to let them know, and they apologized and only said he could get store credit instead of a refund. We do not recommend this store. read more

This place is horrible . When we walked into the store no one said hello and the staff was very unwelcoming . When i had walked to the back of the store the fish tanks were disgusting and there was a teen sticking his hand in the water and it looked like he was poking the fish .The hamsters were in horrible condition it looked like they were dead when I had asked the staff what kind of hamsters they had they could not even give me a answer . There were rats giving birth in glass container with No food for the mother . There was a baby rabbit WITH NO HAY and if you know anything about bunnies is that they can not live without hay . None of the animals had water and they were keeping a mama guinea pig away from its babies . I wish i could save all those animals . read more

This place has a wide range of pets but the blatant negligence is disgusting. All the animals are in filthy overcrowded cages filled with flies. The rat and mouse cages have up to 25 rats animals with horrible mange! Animals like rabbits are in tiny cages unable to hop and they all seem sluggish and sick. There is even a chinchilla in a cage the size of a small fish tank where it can't even stand up. The birds are all sick, traumatized, and overcrowded; even large birds like cockatiels will have 4 in a 12inch cage. There are dead fish in every single tank. The employees are no help and give horrible recommendations encouraging buyers to keep their animals in neglectful conditions. This pet store desperately needs to be shut down. The only reason I'd shop there is rescue the poor animals read more

Honestly terrifying. I went in on the spur of the moment after taking my kid to the playground next door. The place REEKS. As soon as you walk in the smell is overpowering. The birds are absolutely in horrid condition. They've destroyed their living quarters and plucked themselves bald because they are bored senseless. They have no toys and no enrichment. The fish cages were leaky and dirty and had dead fish in them. The small animals were in small filthy and overcrowded cages. The place was lit like a horror movie and the employees treat you like they're doing you a favor letting you in. I had planned to buy a few dog chews but I left without buying anything because everything looked filthy and I was afraid to touch anything. I made my kid wash his hands and take off his shoes before touching any of our animals I was so worried about bringing home disease. This place needs to be shut down. read more

This place is a travesty. Poorly lit, foul smelling, dead fish floating in the aquariums, parrots who have pulled their feathers out, and employees who don't seem to know know much of anything. I went in because I needed to get one item and didn't want to drive all the way across town to Petsmart for it. They had kittens in a cage for free. They looked too young to be separated from their mother and I was also concerned because I know there are gangs in the area who will use free kittens for dog bait. When I told the employees about this and suggested they ask a little something for the kittens to avoid this happening, they made sad, pouty faces and went "Aww..." and then did nothing. They apparently could care less what anyone did with the kittens as long as they took them out of there. I decided to take a kitten home with me and when I got it home, I discovered it had raw skin around its neck where it had scratched for fleas. The poor little thing was infested with them. It reeked of cat urine, its fur was dry and brittle, it was filthy, and it was thin and obviously malnourished. The guy who was giving them away (an employee) claimed the kitten was an indoor cat and had been wormed and was flea free. I don't know about the worms, but it was NOT flea free. The kitten was half wild and it took a couple of days for it to calm down and trust us. I decided one more time to suck it up and go into Let's Pet to get a flea comb, since the kitten didn't weigh enough for any flea medication and was directed to some rather pricy flea combs. This was more than I wanted to spend and the employee suggested I try one of the used combs. She took it out of the case and it was filthy and had stuff caked up on it. But it was cheap, so I bought it and took it home and soaked it in bleach and cleaned all the crud off of it. The entire experience with this pet store was just nasty and revolting. I don't even know how it is still in business. I mentioned my experience to some friends and they all chimed in and said "Oh I know! I can't stand that place! It's nasty! I never go there!" Apparently, it has a reputation. The kitten (who turned out to also have a urinary tract infection, along with everything else) is now doing great. She is sweet and tame and healthy and we are so happy to have her with us. However, from here on out, we'll be getting our pet supplies from Petsmart or Walmart. read more

Poor employment.tried to get a bunny today. My boyfriend rode on his moped to get me a bunny for my birthday, 30 minutes out. The lady told him he couldn't buy it he wasn't 18. Then I called up there and was like I called earlier and told you about him buying me the rabbit and our age and you didn't say it then. She started off like "well ma'am I can't help you." So i said keep the rabbit. She says sum it would be better off here than with you anyway. If y'all can deal with disrespectful teenagers, but I can't. read more

I would give less stars if I could. I bought 2 guinea pigs from there. The OWNER said that their breeder was "good" and their pigs were healthy. BULL. There is a week "warranty" on their animals. It took two weeks to realize that one of the pigs had MITES. Vet trip to get meds for both guinea pigs (both must be treated at the same time) and repeated trips because they have to be treated 3 times. Grand total for that was around $200. We also had to throw away all toys. Shortly after that, we had to deal with RINGWORM too. Another vet trip, more treatments and even more "fun" because humans can get ringworm from their pets. How do I know? Well.... we're being treated for ringworm too. We had to throw away the new toys and hideys again. I've spent $500 on these two piggies. When I called to tell them they brushed me off saying no one else had called to complain. I've had guinea pigs all my life. I've NEVER had a sick piggy. I've had nothing but trouble the whole time I have had these which isn't very long now. Now I have two pets that I haven't even been able to bond with properly because all they know is vet trips, ointments and medicines because the owner of a pet shop could care less. read more
