We love our puppy, but we were sold a puppy with a level 3/4 out of a possible 6 heart murmur that we need to seek treatment for. Happy Tail Puppies' vet signed off on the last health check that there were no issues. I had our puppy Seen by 2 separate vets and both agreed on the diagnosis. My discussions with the owner to get a refund to be used to treat the puppy's condition have yielded nothing so far. Also our experience with their training program was a huge disappointment. My puppy is not motivated with treats which seemed to be the only way the trainers knew how to use. Our dog was returned to us with no successful training. I don't recommend this business or its training partners. read more

I felt like I needed to come do this review. Happytail puppies is about an hour from where we live in NC so it was very easy to get to. We just bought a mini dachshund about 2 weeks ago. I was so skeptical after reading all these reviews and the ones on google and the negative ones almost scared us off. After all my research I almost didn't go with Happytail Puppies. Our puppy was born in Dec and I was wondering why in the world it was still there to be adopted on top of the bad reviews. We took a chance and so glad we did. We arrived to meet our Kovur (originally Lindy)and was put inside a small room and waited to meet her. You really don't get to see any of the facility other than this front room in this house and the outside as you walk to the front door. They brought Kovur to the little meeting room and she had the best personality ever! Playful, full of energy and with bows and a scarf on. We made the decision she would be added to our family. Paid and got all the paperwork and left. We got a vet appt the next morning. She checked out and was 100% healthy!!! Not one thing was wrong with her as of that vet appt. I couldn't be more pleased with this whole process with Happytails. And we took a chance, which was scary after reading all the bad reviews and it worked out for us. So just know, We had a great experience and would recommend them, especially if you looking for a mini dachshund!! Best addition to our family! read more

So I paid for my dog and saw the reviews here and freaked out a bit. It was totally unwarranted. Communication with Angel at Happy Tails was great. She was responsive and helpful. They gave me a delivery date for my toy teacup maltipoo and everything went great. He arrived exactly when they said he would. He arrived clean, happy, and healthy with all of his paperwork and food. I took him to the vet the next day and they said he was in great shape, healthy, and had a great personality. He looked exactly like the photos and his personality is perfect. Please use caution. Read the reviews before purchase. It might save you lots of anxiety and heartache. There are so many things that just didn't set well with me from the beginning. I purchased a puppy online and then waited for some type of conformation or a phone call. It NEVER came. So then I called happy tails a total of 10 times with no answer. When I finally got someone on the phone I asked why the puppy I purchased was still listed for sale. (You would think it would have been removed from the website). I was told my consultant would call me back with all the details. Again, I NEVER received a call. So the next day I called back and finally was able to speak to someone. I set up an appointment to pick the dog up but asked for some pictures (as I was excited to get another puppy after the sudden loss of my other dog). I was sent a picture the next day. I was in shock at the dog I thought I purchased had changed in appearance dramatically. Happy tails really needs to keep updated photos on the website so people know exactly what they are purchasing. The dog was now 3.5 months old with an 8 week old photo on the website. I immediately inquired about grooming and sanitary conditions because the dog was filthy in the photo. I was told she was running outside all day and hadn't had a bath. She insured me that the dog would be groomed before pickup. That was a lie! That was also the last time I heard from my consultant. Someone else took over communication with me from there. My brother also purchased a dog and his consultant was talking to both of us at this point. When I picked the dog up she was disgustingly dirty and also soaking wet on her mouth, legs, and paws. And the worst part was she smelled of feces. So I immediately started looking and found matted feces in her fur on the back of the neck. I almost turned around and went back to happy tails to discuss this with them but I realized in that moment that this became a rescue situation. And I was not going to leave this poor dog in those conditions. Upon arriving back home (and getting out of the car) I noticed she was urinating very frequently, licking her area, and whimpering a lot. So I immediately called the vet to get her an appointment as I suspected a UTI. I couldn't get an appointment immediately because of the July 4th holiday so I had to wait. But once I got the dog into the vet they confirmed she did have a UTI. She's been given medicine to combat that but I didn't expect to have a sick dog. I was in contact with a consultant the entire time via email. The matted feces was never acknowledged actually completely ignored. Also I was told via email that UTI's happen when puppies are nervous and that they weren't held accountable for that after the dog leaves there care. I'm an avid dog lover and have multiple at home and have rescued quite a bit NONE a of them have ever had a UTI. Just do your research on how dogs get them and make your own conclusion. I'm not gonna get into that in this review. This experience has been terrible from the beginning and I don't wish anyone to have to go through this. So please read the reviews and make a decision about the company before purchasing. The poor dog is just happy to be loved and taken care of now. They should be paying people to take the dogs from them because they don't know how to properly take care of them. read more

I was completely fooled and blinded by the colorful/cute website and the adorable videos they constantly posted on their instagram. I was under the impression that this company was professional. Now before I start, I'll make it clear that I haven't purchased a dog from this company so I cannot give any advice or feedback on that, but I will warn the impressionable families that may be thinking of putting their money into this company. Please do your research beforehand, it'll save you from financial stress and heartbreak. I'm a first time dog owner and I was on the look for a Cavapoo for me and my family. I'm a teenager and I've been researching for a while because I didn't have much of the experience. Of course, this was the first website that caught my eye because of the cute puppies and the cheap prices. It seemed too good to be true and plus the website looked pretty legit and professional. I was stuck on happytails and wanted to put down a deposit on a puppy until I've began to do more research. That's when I began reading the reviews. This place is 100% a puppy mill and I can't stress that enough. Compared to the other breeders that I've contacted and gotten my puppy from, this is the bottom of the barrel. Please please please do not support and put your money into these companies. They do not care about you or the dog. Reading the reviews was haunting for me at first and my heart broke for the families that experienced getting a sick dog or having to witness their dog suffering. We had the most amazing experience with Brianna from the beginning of our journey to the end. I fell in love with a puppy on the Happytail website. I spoke to Brianna, who was more than happy to set up a virtual meeting. I was hesitant to place the non-refundable deposit so I opted not too. Brianna never pressured me either way, she just advised the puppy could be taken before our virtual meeting. Unfortunately the first puppy was "reserved " by someone prior to our meeting. After a few days I found another puppy from the same litter. This time I placed a reserve on him, as I did not want to lose him. Brianna was so helpful every step of the journey from first meet to sending additional photos and arranging travel for our little guy. From the first day the travel nanny handed him to us it has been wonderful! He was so well socialized and slept in his crate with no effort from day one. He adores everyone and everyone adores him. He has been checked by our local vet and given a clean bill of health and is scheduled for neutering later this month. The microchip process was great and we ordered a tag with his name, Herbie! I would happily purchase another puppy from Happytail and would recommend them to any friends or family wanting to add a well socialized and fun furry family member. read more

I had searched for MONTHS for a rescue pup but because of my husbands allergies we had to have a hyper allergenic breed which are very hard to come by. After tons of research I found happy tails puppies and began to look into their pups. We fell in love with a photo of our Bishpoo/Poochon puppy and moved forward with reserving him. It's true they require a $200 (non refundable) deposit in efforts to weed out uncommitted puppy shoppers. But knowing that if after meeting the puppy we reserved, if we didn't love him or he wasn't the right fit the deposit will transfer to a future litter and give us "first pick" made total sense! Also, the depot goes towards the total cost of the pup. Leading up to bringing our puppy home our puppy consultant sent us photos of him, we got to facetime meet him, and spent over and hour chatting and getting all of our questions answered. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The location was easy to find, clean and orderly, and they gave us a folder with all of his history, vaccine records, vet information, and microchip info. Ozzy (our puppy) came home with us clean and groomed with a sweet bandana as well as puppy pads, some treats, and a bag of the current food he was eating. The only struggle we had was with communication. The puppy consultants are very "touch and go" and took days to respond to emails and return phone calls. I got to the point where I would just call multiple times during the day until I got someone on the phone. In the end, Amber our puppy consultant was helpful (once we could reach her) and answered all of our questions and made the experience smooth and simple. She also called to check on us multiple times after bringing him home to see how we were adjusting and encourage us as new puppy parents. There were positive and negative reviews, and the negative reviews concern me I discussed my concerns with Cierra. I was satisfied with our discussion and agreed to FaceTime meeting with the puppy. I felt confident that this was the right puppy for us, and we followed through on each step and was able to contact Cierra at anytime through text and received an immediate response. When I called, I was able to reach her either directly or she called me immediately back within five minutes she walked me step-by-step through the process, and I asked questions as we went through the contract, it has been three days and I've had my puppy to the vet who feels he is in excellent health, and shows no sign of genetic concerns of the breeds. The complaints I read online were directly related to the contract and the expectations of the contract. My recommendation is to read through the contract follow through on the expectations and you will have no difficulties I highly recommend working with Happytail. read more

Stay away from this puppy mill. We purchased our puppy in December 2020 and never had a dog so sick. From the moment we got her, she was filled with parasites and other illnesses. She was always sick and after numerous vet visits, Happy Tail Puppies tried to reimburse us a very small percentage of our costs, but more importantly - sign a waiver that we would never post a review like this or file a claim. We knew better than to sign that waiver because she experienced problem after problem until she unfortuately passed away last month. We took her to five different vets and nobody could make her thrive. All of the vets we visited us complimented us on doing so much for her, but in the end, we just watched the sweetest dog suffer for 14 months. Buyer beware! Whatever you do, DO NOT buy a puppy from this puppy mill! They do not care for their dogs. According to Angle, The mom & dad dogs live their lives in crates until it's time to breed. Once mom gets pregnant she gets to go live in a guardians home for a few months then right back to jail, I mean Happy Tails until she's forced to have puppies again. On 2 occasions we purchased a puppy from HT. Both puppies came home extremely sick. They were throwing up & pooping blood. When I reached out to them it was basically "too bad so sad" because I didn't purchase their forced insurance or vitamins. They say the dogs are healthy & vet checked yet both of my dogs (on 2 different purchase dates) were very sick. It's clear that the puppies are not cared for at all. I love my dogs so much & wouldn't trade them for anything but knowing what I know now I would never recommend this place. read more

I have awesome awesome dogs from here and have shared my experience. However (and I don't really care) we were sold a Silkie which is not a Yorkie. I love her so I could care less and it was my bad because I didn't know there were Silkies so how would I know the difference? My other dog, my maltese is the SWEETEST thing ever and is my "ride or die" dog. He is an ANGEL. I have had NOTHING but pleasant and professional interaction, she ALWAYS let us come pick out our puppies. The puppies ALWAYS seemed happy. I know this is hypocritical but I"m not a fan of breeders, my other dogs have had puppies and I always fall in love so don't know how people can give dogs away. read more

Got a Bernedoodle, I should have known something was up. "We are going to miss her" with a half smile. The puppy would poop in the crate and not while out for our walks, as if she was holding it. She would pee during walks, multiple 2-3hour walks, and she would pee twice and come back inside get into the crate and poop. Please understand that she would pee outdoors, during off leash play, come into the house, and poop. The crate was appropriate for her size, no wiggle room. Poop and lay in it. So obviously, that is what she is used to doing. I understand they are not trained, and traiming is up to the provider. It's difficult to fix a learned behavior that goes against the nature of a pup.
