When I originally went to LEG I was just looking for a tailored resume for a career transition and I got so much more than that: I got an insight into HR and the whole hiring process. I worked with Sue and she really went above and beyond. I have a pharmaceutical (chemistry) background and I'm looking to transition to finance. Sue helped me refine my overly technical resume into something HR would recognize me for as an overachiever while transitioning. She helped me know how to communicate my achievements for a career transition and show those translatable skills. She really walked me through how HR thinks during my consultation, and while my resume has a lot of demonstrative language, she helped break down things into a more concise "what value does John Mackey bring" type of format. I was very lost before working with Sue about the format HR looks for in modern resumes, and she was able to really have my stuff stand out: less is more. Service was more expensive than others, thought this might indicate a better experience but it did not. The resume was worse than something I could have wrote myself. The only benefit I've seen from this is the formatting. Basically had to rewrite most of it, some of which was unintelligible. Before I did that, I did try using the resume with minimal edits to see if it was a good tool for just getting past algorithms, but I haven't received a single call back when using the lightly edited version. I will take some of the blame for this, I started looking into a new job when I signed up for this service & had already found a new job before they even contacted me because their service was so backed up. Because of this, I didn't thoroughly read the draft resumes when approving them (was busy with my new role), but I assumed there would at least be a baseline of professionalism I could build off of when I had to update it to reflect my new position. To be fair to me as well, they were supposed to have a follow up meeting with me to verify that I was satisfied with their service and that never happened. If you have decent writing skills, just do it yourself. If you really need help, don't use let's eat grandma. read more

After 10 years and three jobs with the same company, I really needed an outside view and feedback on my resume. Working with Hamza, he really helped me understand how to adjust the content of my resume and LinkedIn profile to 'sell' all the experience and skills I have to offer. You do get out what you put in - the more they have to work with, the better your resume will be! I started sending out resumes on Monday and already have two screenings lined up. I did have to take away one star because there were some formatting issues in my final documents - mostly words that did not have spaces in between them. There were enough that I wonder if there is a boarder issue is how they are finalizing and/or saving documents. A sheer waste of time and money. Basically, an over-priced formatting service. The writing was so low level and fallow, I had to re-write it myself SEVERAL times as the writer either was too over-worked or couldn't be bothered to actually read my revisions and implement them. This meant MUCH more time for me and he (maybe) spell checked it and entered in some comma-splices. If you're a non-native speaker or someone just looking for a reformat, sure give them 360 bucks or whatever. Otherwise, don't bother. I did my due diligence, read reviews and comparisons and was led to believe LEG was the best for entry, middle and lower senior-level applicants. I would say I am in the later group and I was embarrassed by the insouciant language and lack of intellectual understanding my writer possessed. The fact that he didn't bother to read my revisions and just copy/pasted what I wrote in--without any editing--is pretty intolerable. Let's Eat Grandma is a poorly implemented service that will not provide you what you seek. I had to completely retool the resume they sent as it was chalked with filler words and awkward run on sentences. They will always miss their deadline and the resume writers are overworked so they forget what you told them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The claims of Let's Eat, Grandma (LEG) are essentially flawed propaganda and marketing spin. They claim an 8 week training program for their staffers. This is laughable. LEG can't deliver an on time product with proper grade school level grammar. It might be 8 minute training but 8 weeks is a complete joke. LEG tote the Certified Professional Resume Writer title. I'd suggest this is a self-made title with a self-made organization for the purposes of skewed promotion. It's a known "trick" that has been used many, many times to try to make a company seem more credible than it is. Create a phantom organization to add credibility. LEG is nothing more than a typing service. They offer no creativity in formatting the documents as they promise. They type what the customer wants. What they type is flawed, incorrect and error filled. The customer spends more time correcting LEG's errors that actual progress. The LEG contacts are primarily a bunch of Cornell alumni with real day jobs with LEG as a side job; or side hustle. You can't see this from their website when you are researching. It's only until you make your purchase, are introduced to your contact person and can research their respective LinkedIn profiles does this becomes evident. There's no formal brick and mortar physical address. It's all sketchy. Very sketchy. If you are an inexperienced first time job seeker with no career experience this company is targeting you. Why? They market themselves as somewhat of an expert. A unique name. A bright website. Lots of marketing emails. Podcasts. It looks promising. Let me assure you, LEG is nothing that they promise. However, if you don't know any better you'd think LEG is. DO NOT FALL FOR THE LEG SPIN. The product they generate is low / poor quality. LEG's reference material is cut and paste from other reputable websites. In my experience with LEG their ability to keep promises and deadlines is by in large non-existent. The company founding brothers ask potential clients to contact them via their LinkedIn profiles. I did. I heard NOTHING back from them. Nothing. More propaganda and spin. Like I said; it's very sketchy. LEG actually admitted in writing, I have the emails, that they could not deliver a senior level / executive resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profile. The person I was dealing with, she was in London, England, missed EVERY promised deadline she made. She tried to negotiate a partial refund due to my complete dissatisfaction only to try and change the terms of the agreement after the fact. This shows the extremely low levels of integrity of LEG's operations and the person I dealt with. It took far too much of my time to work to finally get a full refund for the LEG services NOT rendered. Multiple emails. You can't call LEG as they don't have a phone number. You might be able to get the phone number of the contact person; if they don't hide their number when they reach out to you. Trust me, you want to get their phone number so they can't run and hide. Only with a promise of legal action against the individual, a so called "supervisor", was I able to eventually get a full refund. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

I wish I could say this was a productive experience, but it was not. My resume writing experience was frustrating and did not produce a resume that met my expectations. It took over one month and two resume writers for a B level deliverable. The "expert" writer who replaced the novice, put the wrong email address on my resume. This was the final draft. Well Worth the Cost My writer Alex Lupenko was great. I had not created a civilian resume or cover letter in over 30 years and was kind of overwhelmed. I handed over my 20 page federal government resume along with a few other reference documents and viola, Alex produced a spectacular final product (2 resumes, 1 cover letter, and LinkedIn profile recommendations. The whole process was fast and effective. Alex is a great and effective writer! It would have taken me a months to condense this information into a workable product. I now feel I have the documents and LinkedIn profile I need to help me get a position in the civilian sector. I would highly discourage any professional from using Let's Eat Grandma. I spent time reviewing companies and LEG fit the bill by offering a personalized service, a feature which the larger companies like LinkedIn or CareerBuilder couldn't accommodate. I took a call with Matt where I provided my background, information about why I was looking to change jobs and several examples of jobs I was looking at. Matt took the full 7 days to get me my first draft. Upon review I was highly discouraged with the number of run on sentences, incorrect grammar usage, and weird formatting such as random double spaces between words in the same sentence. You could tell they just plug your info into a template. I asked for some of the items to be corrected, however, others I fixed on my own as it was more efficient. In the "final" document provided to me there were still errors and a host of grammatical errors. I purchased their "premium" package and would have found better value in dedicating the same amount of time and money rewriting my own resume. I contacted the company and my resume writer, Matt, for assistance and resolution. I was scheduled for a call on Thursday with Tejal and he never called - no replies to my emails either.
