Okay, let's get this out of the way: Anytime a resto gives itself a cheesy name like "Let's Chow", you have to scale your expectations down. The fact that most of the items were priced really low didn't boost my confidence. However, the place was bright and clean, which I guess counts for something. Oh, and Boy Logro was apparently a consultant. This might work out. Might.
I finally got around to trying it out yesterday. As expected, Let's Chow just manages to pass the barest of expectations. My mom and I had a beef ball congee, a wanton mami, hakaw, bola-bola siopao, and buchi. The congee was just okay; Not the best in the market, but it's good in a pinch. The mami was forgettable, as while the broth barely passes, the wanton wrappers were too thick and the noodles were too soft.
We had more success with the dimsum, as the bola-bola siopao was decent (At two pieces/P70, a bit of a steal), and the P60 hakaw was actually good. The best in show yesterday was the buchi. Perfectly round and firm, there wasn't a millimeter in that buchi that wasn't covered in sesame seeds. It had a delightful texture as I bit into it, and the filling was done right.
I guess the best way to look at Let's Chow is as a fastfood joint. Seen from those lenses, Let's Chow is actually pretty good, certainly a better destination than Chowking and Gotoking, for example. The price point makes this place forgivable, desirable even. It's just not that resto you'd hanker for, but it's a good, stedy place for your quickie dinner. read more
