Expect to pay a bit more for stuff, but that's attributed to the remote location. The couple who run the place are friendly, and really have a good gig going on here. Our neighbors up here say, during off-season, they make full take-home meals, and they're great. We'll have to try that someday, when we don't feel like cookin'. I'll always support folks who put that kind of effort in their livelihood. Note: The Yelp map/location is whacked. Not only do they make great coffees, they have sandwiches, ice creams and DONUTS! We were camping next door and walked up. The owner came out to greet us. This being the off-season, it was rather easy for him to do so. After taking our orders for coffees, a maple bar and apple fritter, he invited us to enjoy some cornhole they have set up there on the premises. They also have a few picnic tables to sit at as well. Within a few moments our items were ready. The coffee was great; just enough flavoring without being sickly sweet. The pastries were exceptionally good, too. I don't know if they make them or bring them from elsewhere but, with a nice latte and stunning views of Lake Roosevelt, you can't go wrong. As mentioned, service is top drawer and prices are decent. We may have to stop by here more often as we head down the highway to town.

The dining area is filled with 3x4 topper and 3x6 topper tables. All have decently comfy steel chairs. There are also a couple of small tables in the 'No Minor area. Additional stools for window seating are also available. Separately, there is a large room in back that has a couple of very large tables and loads of chairs. I'm guessing that room can handles groups of 40+. Choices here include pizza , wings, and a couple of wraps for the main meal. They also have several flavors of ice cream available as well as fancy coffee drinks. The girl working the counter was friendly and the place seems to be kept clean. Cool decor with a 1894 map of the town covering an entire wall. I look forward to coming back to try out a pizza. Motorcyclists: Plenty of seating for a group and nice paved curbside parking is available.

There's nothing about this place that 'quick' but it's not slow either. You come here to have a meal and chat it up with others if you'd like. The food is excellent and right sized so that you are full, but not wasted by overeating. I had the biscuits & gravy with hash browns and eggs. All were spot on and made me a happy man before heading back out on the cycle. Servers were friendly and knew all the locals by name. It's that kind of place. If passing through, it's worth the stop. Btw, I see one person didn't care for the coffee and gave them a poor rating. I thought the coffee was excellent enough to polish off a few mugs of it. For motorcyclists, the parking lot is mostly gravel with a small concrete pad directly in front of the store.

It's located on a darling little street and the staff was friendly, welcoming and seemed happy to be there which to me is always the most important thing a restaurant can offer. I ordered a green tea latte and every sip was perfect, I think I have a new go to cafe beverage! My vegan avocado toast (they also had a non vegan option and a lot of other toasts that I look forward to trying) was beautifully assembled and bursting with flavors from citrus to salt and beyond. The area surrounding Grand Coulee is parched for water, with hills, bluffs, and plains covered with dry yellow grass. Yet, the Grand Coulee dam, holding back the Columbia River has created a massive lake, that appeared to be underutilized for recreation. I think I only saw one boat on the lake at the time we drove through. The town of Grand Coulee didn't seem to have many tourist dollars running through it, but Voltage Coffee was making its claim as the best coffee in town. Sometimes you want to stop for coffee at a walk-in storefront, instead of sitting in your car waiting for the closet sized expresso shops to churn out lattes. Voltage has nice seating areas indoors and out. We relaxed outside and took in views of the town. As we were sipping our coffee, a deer walked down the alley, stared at us for a moment, then continued moving on. There appeared to be so little activity in town at that time of day that the deer felt comfortable taking the shortest route to the lake for a drink. Or maybe that deer knew of a local vegetable garden in the area that wasn't adequately fenced in. If we ever drive through Grand Coulee again in the future, we will return to Voltage.
