The manager, Brandon, was super patient and knowledgeable. I'm a new pool owner so I'm learning as I go. My filter wasn't holding water and Brandon helped me to learn that it was because my o-ring was busted. He was able to quickly deduce and get me on my way. I came home, changed the o-ring, and added lubricant and the tight seal was exactly what I needed. Super grateful that Brandon was able to help me through my problem and that I didn't have to call a pool maintenance rep to overcharge me. I will be back again as he is a leader I can trust. I only come in here in desperation, typically on a Sunday when the other pool stores are closed. Most of the employees at this location know little about pools and will happily sell you the wrong parts and/or pool chemicals you don't need. You might lucky and find one of the few who know what they doing, but the odds aren't good. It's fine in an emergency when you know exactly what you need and can't get it anywhere else. If you can afford the time, find one of the few locally owned stores and give them your business instead. There was a time when this location was staffed by knowledgeable people who had either been in the business for years or grown up helping with the family pool. Those days are unfortunately long gone. Leslie's corporate also doesn't seem to care as they can't even be bothered to respond to complaints sent from their web site. read more

Worst customer service ever. I placed an order for a pool heater. 10 days after paying, no updates. I called and was given an install date that was 2 weeks out. That makes it almost 1 month after making full payment. The impression i was given at the time of order was that i'll have it installed within 2 weeks. The rep was happy to cancel the order and did not seem interested in having any more discussions. I am taking my business elsewhere. Also at this store is phone is busy often. So it is very hard to get a hold of them and even more difficult to do business with. read more

Called in for a manifold for my DE filter, within a minute they confirmed it was in stock, on hand. The price was comparable to Amazon and no waiting so I went for it. I got to the store and they had the part waiting for me behind the counter. I had not asked for that but they did. The water test was quick and thorough. Bruno did an excellent job going through the results, explaining the readings and next steps. He made notes on the printout that made sense of everything. Based on an additional promotion that I wasn't aware of, they discounted a percentage off. New pool owner. I went over to Leslies Pool Supplies to get some info and parts for a 1996 Hayward Power Flo. Sid was really cool about checking on parts and giving me tips on running my pump. When we first looked up a part for the Doughboy skimmer it came up as discontinued but Sid was great at finding an alternative. This place either has your product or can order it or you. My experience at Leslie's pool has been always positive until today. I will give 0 if I can. I went to the store on Tully rd in San Jose to have my pool water tested since it turned green. This is not the first time, so I did follow the steps and shocked the pool twice and run the pump for more than 24 hours. Unfortunately the water is still green. After I waited patiently for 30 minutes to allow the store clark, Gwyen, to take care of 1 customer, I explained to her my problem. She started the test and said that the chlorine is too high and she can not give me any other test results because they will be inaccurate. I specifically asked if she can tell me what the level of the free chlorine and the cyanuric acid are and she told me again that the chlorine is too high??? I asked what the problem for the green color is after I have shocked the pool and she said that she is not sure without even suggesting what I can do for that. Leslie's should hire competent people that can really help their customers. It was a complete waste of my valuable time to go there and did not get proper customer service and any solution/treatment for my pool problem. read more

Bruno is my savior! My Polaris pool cleaning filter died--4 days before my son's wedding! I've got 10 house guests starting tomorrow! I called Leslie's-Bascom Ave--How soon could they fix it? They said--at least a week. I asked--what about Los Gatos? Forget it, they said--even longer wait. They recommended Leslie's on Tully in East San Jose. I called and asked how long? and store manager Bruno said "For sure by 7 pm." I said--7 pm what day? He responded--Today, of course! I drove over--he checked it out--right away!-- and had the answer and the replacement part put in the Polaris--in 10 minutes! Sure, it was a longer drive, but overall, problem fixed in an hour--not a week! Our pool pump quit working and I was quite worried how much a fix would cost. I called Lisa for her advice and she asked a few questions about my model and quickly said she had one. We shot right over with pictures of what mine looked like on our iPad. She took one look and noticed that her pump would need modified. She blew me away, she took that sucker apart and rotated the input inlet so that it would work for us. She had it back together in record time. She is AMAZING! The price was right too. We feel like we dodged a bullet. She assured me the installation was something I could handle and she was right. Her associate Mario is also quite knowledgeable and eager to please. i didnt realized how hard it was to look for a kiddie swimming pool in the month of January until my son wanted a dinosaur theme birthday party for him. i was trying to be creative and make my own sand pool for the kids to dig up some dinosaur fossils. ive called and checked at toysrus, walmart, big 5, target.. you name it.. then yelp helped me fine this place! the lady in here is suuuper helpful and luckily they had one kiddie swimming pool left for only $15, 6ft in diameter and 15 in high. be careful if you dont like the smell of chlorine, youll be smelling that the whole time you are in this store. its quite a strong smell read more

We've been coming here for 2 years now. Lisa was the best, super knowledgeable and helpful and would even tell us not to buy things if she did not like a particular product. She has moved on but now we have Bruno, and Mario. Bruno is awesome, has helped us in the past and yesterday Mario was a rock star. I don't know how Leslie's finds people that really seem to care. Mario did our water test, and when we asked him about a past test that Bruno did, he called him up to make sure everyone was clear on the situation. He is professional and casually friendly. We have always received excellent service, from Lisa (now gone), and more recently from the store manager, Alex Bruno. We have a very, very old Anthony filter for our in-ground pool. Frankly, we're amazed it's still working. Many of the panels of the filter grid were shot; with research and time, Bruno was able to solve our filter problem to our complete satisfaction. Took the filter pump (which was making too much noise) and the sweeper pump (which was leaking). A week later they replaced two O-rings and the pump is making as much noise as before and the sweeper pump is leaking just as much. Not much help here. read more
