Chad is a down to earth guy and I completely trusted him. Turns out if you read the reviews on Chad Taylor at this site, they are completely accurate. It was excuse after excuse and lie after lie to drag this job out through the summer. When I gave him the check for $900 my wife said he could just take that money and cash it for himself and not even order a Jacuzzi top for us amongst other things. I thought she was paranoid. Turns out she was right. When I was in 2nd grade my teacher asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. Some of the kids said astronaut, or engineer or professional athlete, etc. Imagine what Chad would say: "I want to be a crook, and a liar." Chad would grow up to be exactly as imagined. I didn't bother to complain to Mission Valley Spa. Based on prior yelp reviews; I figured they wouldn't help me at all.

Rick came out, fixed it in five minutes, but wasn't rushing me and answered all my questions then gave me his cell phone number and said call anytime. You don't find service like this anymore so again if you're buying a Jacuzzi or a Sundance spa or any type of hot tub go to Aqua paradise! You will not be disappointed.

The attendant there showed no interest in my problem and without even looking, said he did not have any parts that would help. On Monday, I went to Lake Forest Spa and Pool and spoke with the owner, Jack. He took the time to listen then explained how to repair the problem and what I would need to do so. I asked him if I brought the motor to him would he be able to make the repair. He said, Yes and gave me a very reasonable quote. I returned an hour later and left the equipment with him. Two hours later he had it repaired, and charged me less than he originally quoted. I reinstalled the pump and motor and everything worked great...and no leak. Thank you Jack.

Pool installation is a major undertaking in which folks must be prepared for the many unexpected challenges that may arise. We faced our fair share of issues and in the end, the result was fantastic. He even pointed out details that other companies we met with never mentioned, which really built our confidence in choosing Swan. The design they created for our space was beautiful. Our yard ended up feeling even bigger than we realized, and they did an amazing job optimizing every inch. Like with any major construction project, there were a few unexpected things that came up, but Swan handled everything with honesty and professionalism every step of the way. Beyond the pool itself, the craftsmanship stood out in every part of the project -- from the pavers to the barbecue island and the beautiful masonry work, the attention to detail was clear. We especially want to give a big shout-out to Johnny, our project manager -- we nicknamed him "Johnny on the Spot" because he was always available when we needed him. He and Juan gave us great recommendations throughout the process, helping us make small adjustments that truly made a big difference in the final result. Anytime a question or decision popped up, Johnny handled it with great communication, care, and a genuine commitment to exceeding our expectations. He and his team finished the pool two weeks ahead of schedule, and the quality of the work was excellent from start to finish. We needed special accommodations for a rehab lift so we could get in and out of the pool safely, and Modul Pools accommodated that without any trouble. The pool is 4 to 6 feet deep and fits our backyard perfectly. It's raised six inches above ground level and finished with beautiful tile, and the mini pebble interior looks great. The equipment is high quality, and the craftsmanship shows in every detail. We've enjoyed the pool every day since it was finished. We'd recommend Modul Pools to anyone considering a pool, especially first-timers and anyone with accessibility needs, and we'd happily work with Johnny again.

A simple 9x18 pool will take them over 7 months to fully complete from excavation (Nov 2025). Your project will not be a priority because all their resources go to their other company, Modul Pools, that claims to "build a pool in 6 weeks or less". If you hire OC Poolscapes, you will have to project manage their project managers to get them to do anything. If not, communication will be nonexistent. But even with me being on top of them, they don't answer calls, return calls, or even respond to texts. Not the owner (Malkiel), not the managers (Michael, Brandon, Jason, Brendan) , not even their assistants (Ulysses, Sam, Bernardo). With 5+ employees in the group chat they set up, it's hard to get a hold of them for any updates. For some reason they also switched project managers on us 3 times due to "company structure changes". First it was Brandon, then Jason, then Brendan. This caused months of delay because no one knew what was going on with our project. Multiple times, I had to walk them through what still needed to get done. There was no handoff or communication internally. Each time a new project manager contacted us for the first time, they would promise to be in constant communication and move things forward. But, the project eventually was put on the back burner again. There have been many missed construction deadlines and tons of issues with them getting permits approved. They tore down two walls in my backyard for access that they have yet to rebuild because whatever they submitted in the permit caused the city to think it was a build to require extra engineering, soils reports, and OSHA permits as well. To this day they are still trying to figure out the permit. Not even the pool build itself needed extra clearances and reports. They say workers will be here on a certain date and then no one shows up. But honestly they don't have anyone scheduled to come at all and just say things to stall and buy time. When you call them out on anything, there is always some sort of excuse. This has literally caused 3 months of delays on their part. No weather issues, no permit issues, just them dropping the ball on scheduling. They also do not take pride in their work. They constantly leave the job site a mess until you ask them to clean up. The tile and grout finish was a rushed and left messy and has since started falling apart (see pictures). Managers do not care to pay attention to the details, despite claiming they build luxury pools. They do not send their in-house workers. They contract the job out to others. For example, I have included a photo of how "their plumbers" ran our new gas line to the pool equipment. It isn't even secured to the wall. There is no way they can be proud of this and put their name on it. I had to call them out on it to have it fixed and secured. Oh and guess who came to fix it? Plumbers in a Modul Pools truck. They best communicate when a payment is due. They will gladly send someone over to pick up the check same day, no problems. But getting someone out here to do work? To them, it can wait. They are also quick to get back to you when you tell them that you are going to fire them and take legal action or file a complaint with the Contractors State License Board. But they immediately go back to not caring about your project after they do a little bit of work to appease you. Look, I know it's a miracle anything gets built in Los Angeles, but it's a miracle OC Poolscapes have built a pool at all. There's a lot more I could go into detail about but hopefully this review has painted a good picture. But with everything said and done, DO NOT hire OC Poolscapes or Modul Pools. I am posting this review before our project is fully completed and final inspections passed. I will not be taking this down. I will be submitting a complaint to the CSLB and will likely pursue legal action as they have practically built us a Modul pool for twice the cost.

Our story, like many, is that we've gone through 5 pool companies in a matter of 6 years...and, not…read moreby choice. Service Runs are bought and sold...and people move, which we completely understand. In our case, often times the owner is not necessarily the "one" coming to your home...and, after the first month or two...someone "new" shows up...or doesn't show up...depending upon (I suppose) their work ethic. Finally, in February of 2023, after the "new hire" not showing and then coming by, looking around, and leaving...we had had enough! We leaned on "Leslie's Pools" for guidance and took over managing our "Spool" on our own! And, quite frankly...things were going well...until they weren't. Between the excess rain, heat and slope full of pollen behind us...our "numbers" were getting a bit out of whack...especially our TDS's. Another neighbor reached out on our community FB page "asking" for a pool technician recommendation...and, we opted to "follow"... just out of curiosity. Low and behold, Simon's name came up...and, not only did he come with wonderful reviews, he's a member of our community, too! (HOW we did not know this...is beyond me!) I decided to text him that very same day...and 2 hours later, he was assessing our pool! That was in May...it's now almost August...and we're beyond THRILLED with not only our water quality, balanced chemicals and POSITIVE reports from Leslie's...We're also EXTREMELY grateful to Simon himself! His knowledge of pool maintenance and "balancing" chemicals on a week to week basis is INCREDIBLE! He takes his time and checks EVERYTHING...and will explain what he finds and takes his time to speak with you directly!
