I first noticed that Katie was not the most attentive and just plain late and rude during a couple phone conversations, but I figured maybe she was not a phone person. Everyone deserves a second chance. I thought she would be courteous and professional in person as her reviews seemed to indicate. I was wrong. Her "new studio" at the time of my trial session for makeup and hair was her personal apartment. She did not explain this ahead of time which threw me off. The place was very clean and chic, super cute decor but it was very weird to use her restroom with her delicate clothing hanging in there. Katie cut me off when I attempted to discuss the overall look I was going for and tried to show her inspiration photos. She was busy being angry at her late hair person because she had some event to attend after my appointment. The hair person was sweet once she arrived but was discussing with Katie as she was doing my hair that it was not a full time job for her. Katie was trying to convince her to work on another project and speaking condescendingly about a recent project. Is not the point of a trial to have time to discuss what you want as a client? I could barely say anything and Katie kept cutting me off. The look ended up being very bizarre, not what I tried to request and too much even on camera at several angles. My hair updo came apart immediately after a handful of hours. Katie also kept checking her cell phone and texting during my trial as she was applying my makeup (not sanitary, eww). I was polite as I left but had a terrible feeling about how she would behave if I went ahead with her for my special event and how she would make people feel. I informed her later in writing and with ample notice that we would not move forward with her. She insisted we move forward, sending long, argumentative e-mails that did not make sense. I can only imagine she was going through a lot to treat me that way and have such strange behavior. I wish Katie a swift and lasting resolution to whatever causes those challenges. I also wish her future success but cannot recommend her based on my experience. I hope all of this information is helpful to others trying to make informed decisions about how to spend their resources.

Steven was very rude and I did not enjoy coming here. I made an appointment for Friday. I was in a meeting that ran over on Friday and had to call last minute to tell him that I would be late. When I got out of the meeting, I called him from my car before I left to tell him that I would be running late. He yelled at me over the phone, said he would not reschedule my appointment and that I could either go there late and receive half the time I paid for or get nothing. He said the Bloomspot deal was heavily discounted and rescheduling last minute was not an option. I opted for rushing to the salon and getting half the time. I was in the energy corridor and drove as fast as I could to get to the salon off of Kirby. When I arrived, I was very upset, crying and didn't even feel like getting a makeup lesson. He decided he would reschedule my appointment for another day. I would advise that you arrive early or cancel 24 hours in advance because he is very unforgiving when in comes to rescheduling last minute. I went back again today for my appointment and he was finishing up with a customer. I was on my phone while I waited and to catch my attention to fill out a paper information form, he sounded annoyed and asked "hey you, texting, can you fill this out?" After I filled out the form, he did my makeup. I told him I wore neutrals and he seemed impatient when I was trying to think of colors in my closet other than white, black, and blue. He applied foundation, navy blue eyeshadow, liner, filled in my eyebrows, lined my lips, and applied gloss. The makeup was very different from what I'm used to. He asked if I liked it and I said although I like a red lip, the shade of red was a little darker than I was used to. My favorite shade right now is Loreal Infallable Le Gloss in Red Fatale which is a very bright and vibrant red. I also told him that I'm used to more natural eye colors like brown and he seemed offended and said brown was boring. I had my eyes done at MAC with a brown eyeshadow for my formal and it was free and much better than the service I received here. I would not recommend this place.

They didn't get to our location on time so they were still doing my hair which made the wedding late by 30 minutes. The whole wedding schedule was pushed back and needed to be rushed due to this vendor. I asked for Hollywood waves. I got 90s frizz. We even told her it was too frizzy and she did a little more work (it actually looked worse before). I thought this place was good. A professional hairstylist should know how to do Hollywood waves. They also made my mom's hair look like crap. They did okay on my 3 bridesmaids. Even if they did better-than-okay on them, that would be like 50 points out of 100. I texted Tru about our disappointment. She literally said, "For your hair, we actually loved how it turned out." You either can do it or you can't. This tells me they don't know how to do Hollywood waves which makes sense since there aren't any pictures of people with the Hollywood waves look in their pictures on Yelp. It also says my opinion doesn't matter. In her text, she said, my mom "didn't have enough hair to do braids." I literally did the braids on my mom's hair before the wedding and that was without extensions and it still looked cute. So this just confirmed that she (the owner, Tru) didn't care about doing a good job as she was the one doing my mom's hair and had a look of apathy on her face in our bRiDaL sUiTe while we were getting ready. I would have thought that at least her reaction to my complaint would have shown concern or any level of standards to meet the client's expectations. This was the worst vendor that we worked with for our wedding. For some reference, our makeup artist was amazing and did an amazing job on everyone.
