I guess I'll first start with the receptionist in the front office the one that sits on the right side, completely rude and no help at all everything is done with an attitude, when I kept getting a bill stating I owed money(which I payed up front that day) thank God I saved the receipt because she asked for it so she could make a copy and "fix it later" that never happened even after plenty of back and forth phone calls with her and my insurance. My insurance was eventually able to help me call their billing department which they said that it was never submitted. And to top it off the couple times that I would see Dr. Leslie it very rushed and could tell she doesn't care for her patients just the money. I only needed that second appointment to realize I deserved better and changed Dr and office all together! This doctor botched my hysterectomy and I had a 7cm lacerated colon for 6 days that she ignored, though I told her I was dying, my family, friends and nursing colleagues also told her. She ignored until I went septic and was taken to emergency surgery post op day 6! I had a 3% chance of survival, a colostomy, open abdomen, pneumonia, congestive heart failure and 6 blood transfusions. Spent two months in ICU and have had six subsequent surgeries. I was 76 lbs at discharge! 17 years later, my medical bills are through the roof. I won the malpractice suit, (her second one!) but in California you only get the maximum of $250,000! I have severe abdominal pain daily, chronic health issues and PTSD! She is THE WORST! Every Dr who has read my chart or operated since then, are shocked at how she butchered me! The front assistant I believe her name is Liz, is a very rude person. She does not know what hospitality means. There are some nice assistance but Liz ruins it for everyone, she makes it not worth continuing. She talks to you as she is superior and talks down to you. Seems like she's the only one in the front desk. From the reviews I've seen about her, they aren't wrong at all. Dr Gonzalez is a nice person but she does not sit down with you and lets you ask her questions, she's in such a rush, and if you're lucky to get a word in, she still has one foot out the door. I got stuck with a bill for an ultrasound that I was specifically told it was complimentary & now I got sent the bill for hundreds of dollars. I don't understand why they are like that. I've been reading reviews trying to decide on my "primary OB" or just in general a OBGYN for my next TTC journey.For starters I needed to take my annual women's wellness womanly check up and was on the hunt looking for a new doctor since I've been seen at Naval hospitals in prior years.I called on Friday morning and they were able to get me an appointment this morning (Monday) . Everything went smooth from check in to the check-up . Dr.Gonzalez is really nice and got straight to the point with my care. I voiced my concerns and my wants and she immediately gave me some options and answers that I was looking for . I was super comfortable talking to her and voicing my future wants for my care and what the end goal would be. It was a quick but very informative appointment and I can't wait to see her again and see what she has planned for me and my TTC needs . I would definitely recommend her ! I don't get why she has any good reviews. I wanted to try a doctor closer to my new home and found her based on reviews. I didn't expect someone as warm and friendly as my old doctor, but Dr Gonzalez was very cold and dismissive. It was like she didn't want a new patient. When I called the office to ask why she didn't disclose these so called needed tests, they had no explanation other than that's what she ordered, her staff was sympathetic and apologized, but they never offered a resolution. So, I originally came in because I needed birth control for an ongoing issue. I was referred here by my PCP's office. I made my appointment (which took forever, since it seems like no one ever answers). I showed up, did some paperwork & I waited for an hour to get called back. I go back, only for Dr. Gonzalez to talk to me for about 5 minutes. We talked about birth control options, but she never took into account my issue. As I've gotten multiple opinions after I was prescribed this medication, turns out it's WAY too low of a dose of birth control (my insurance also didn't cover the BC, so I was paying out of pocket) AND she never ordered me an ultrasound to follow up on the whole reason I was there. You can tell she was in a rush at the end of the day. After that appointment , I once again struggled to make an appointment again for a follow up only to find out she doesn't take my insurance anymore. Blessing in disguise? YES! As you well know, I am not a fan of that cervix scraping procedure. Not a fan at all. But if it must happen, hopefully it will be at a place that's relatively enjoyable to be. Relatively. Dr. Gonzalez is great...for the short time I saw her. Turns out doctors don't spend the whole afternoon chit-chatting for a routine pap, but at least it was actually the doctor and not a nurse. I've had that before too. No bueno. Downside is the building is older and dustier than Joan Rivers' vagina. Seriously. Plus there are windows in the examining rooms, I mean there are blinds, but I guess I turn into quite the prude once my ankles are in the stirrups. All in all, I'm not in love. But it's not a bad place. It'll do, if you have the kind of insurance that doesn't allow you the finer gynecologists in life. Thumbs Up: -Cool doctor. -She's young, too. Which is always a plus for when it comes to OB/GYN docs. I was referred here by my Gyn that does not practice Obstetrics any longer. Upon experiencing some complications, I called the office to try and be seen by the doctor. The front desk personnel was not able to get me in, however they did refer me to a clinic, who then referred me back the the hospital that Dr. Gonzalez practices at. Upon completing the ultrasound, the front desk lady suggested that I also get some blood work done. Upon getting to the office, I asked if my progesterone levels could be checked as well, since a friend of mine was experiencing similar complications and progesterone supplements basically saved her baby. The front desk lady stated "Why do you think you need that? All pregnancies are different, her doctor requested that for a specific reason and it doesn't have anything to do with you"... Needless to say, I had no idea a front desk person was qualified to make those types of decisions. I asked to consult the doctor about this, and she stated that the doctor wasn't even in yet, so no. "Go upstairs, get your blood drawn, and she will call you with an answer." I left, got my blood drawn and waited to hear from Dr. Gonzalez. Low and behold, I never got a call from the Dr., but instead, my results were delivered by phone, from the same front desk lady. SERIOUSLY?! I took time off work and paid for a receptionist to provide me with sensitive test results?! Appalling. I understand that Dr.'s are busy people, but this type of treatment is not appropriate nor was it comforting for someone who was going through the scariest part of pregnancy, a possible miscarriage. I called the next day and switched Dr.'s. I wasn't asking for the world, I was just looking for a little kindness, possibly some empathy, and a safe place to be vulnerable. Overall, Dr Gonzalez is good, she takes care of you, and knows her stuff. She is perfect for women who are on the go. Checks if everything is going well, any questions,and move on, next. If it would had been my first pregnancy, I would had been crying and complaining, wishing she would hold my hand and spend more time to feel connected to. But with my busy life, things to do, glad to had come here. One thing I did notice was that her staff had preference for certain people, not everyone got the same love and greet. But I'm not complaining, I wasn't there to make friends. read more

Dr. Gonzalez was my OB for my first pregnancy. She was a recommendation from a friend of mine. As most first time moms to be I was curious about everything. Had no idea what goes on while pregnant. Dr. Gonzalez was the perfect doctor for me. Very calm (something I am not), patient with me, answered all of my millions of questions, and helped me make desicisions that I didn't know what to do. Not only was the prenatal amazing with her but my delivery was awesome. I had to have a C section. It was a scary idea but during the whole process I felt very at ease with her and her staff. Los Alamitos Medical Center is seriously my heaven on earth! Didn't want to ever leave. But after 4 days they kicked me out :). I've been a patient with Leslie for multiple years now, and overall, I have been satisfied. Purpose of Visits: Annual check up and birth control methods. Check ups are quick and easy. With regards to birth control methods, she's always been very informative and helpful. I've tried some which my body rejected and she was quick to change methods. I've also been on birth control when after a year my body rejected it. She was always available to answer my questions and direct me to something better. I don't know why some reviews say she's dismissive but maybe it's because I'm a straight shooter and I have all my question written down and I ask her one after the other. Front Office: I've never had any problems with her front desk. Liz was great! She's helpful and sassy and I liked how she was quick. I think with Leslie switching health groups, Liz isn't there anymore :( but so far... front desk seems okay. Although, there are days when I call and NO ONE answers. Fees: No issues with unexpected fees or insurance. Dr Gonzalez: I think she's great. She has good intentions to accommodate her clients and yes, there are times when she's short, but I don't blame her. She's dealing with patients all day, every day, and I'm sure it's difficult to meet everyone's needs. She has needs too! Give her a try. read more

Dr. Gonzalez, along with the team at Los Al hospital, was my rock during my delivery. She was caring and super easy to communicate with on any concerns I had. Her easygoing demeanor really boosted my comfort level and confidence. She was just great throughout the pregnancy check ups. It was easy to make appointments. Most importantly, she respected the appointment time and was always within 5-10 minutes of my appointment time. I appreciate that because my time is valuable too! The only complaint I have is the lab service which kept getting strange results for me. I ended up having to repeat several of the tests that later came out normal. read more

Dr. Gonazalez and her assistant are soooo nice. you can basically ask them anything and not feel slutty / embarrassed or feel like you are being rushed out of your appointment, which is probably the most important aspect of a doctors visit for me. great magazine selection in the lobby. tip - make an appointment early in the morning. i was there once in the afternoon and the waiting room was crowded as hell and i had to listen to a bunch of crying kids and babies. the 9:00 am time slot is empty and quick. and those vertical blinds... what were they thinking there? i think one slat was missing as well? i convinced myself that the windows were tinted and that no one in the parking lot could see me. read more

Unfortunately I came across Dr. Gonzalez via a long list of nearby OBs and rushed into seeing her. Since my very first appointment I was VERY disappointed. She never asked me about myself, no interview or anything. The four visits I had with her were very brief; she walked in and out of there quickly without asking much. I had to stop her to ask her any questions...she never gave me any information other than if I asked. Her staff was not very helpful either, I had to figure out and call whenever I had to go get lab work done. They never called me to let me know about important test results. I was EXTREMELY dissatisfied with this Dr. I'm very happy now with my current OB at Complete Women Care in Long Beach; this place was voted best customer service in 4 years in a row! This is my first pregnancy and I had no clue what to expect and had questions about billing etc...there was one time in particular that I was confused about a bill. And asked about it and Liz seemed irritated about having to answer my question. And since then she has been nothing but rude to me. And I'm 7 months pregnant right now and I still have to deal with her. She is not warm or welcoming when you sign in. I truly try to kill her with kindness. But that doesn't seem to work. I spoke of her to one her colleagues and she said that she is always like that. We both agreed that she is obviously an overworked and unhappy person. And that I should definitely not take it personal. I don't need a big red carpet rolled out for me and a pad on the back every time I go to my appointment, but it would be nice to get a "Hello, how ya feeling?" I am a local doula and I work with lots of doctors at lots of hospitals. I'm a big fan of moms-to-be finding a doctor that works for them. I've had two births with Dr. G, and I liked her manner with her patients. I was able to accompany my clients to their prenatal appointments with the doctor, and see her catch their babies. Both clients used her for each of their multiple pregnancies. I understand she's recently moved to a new office, so the other posters' concerns about the window blinds in the exam room may have been fixed. Remember that there is a "right" doctor out there for every woman, and the better you know what you are looking for, the more likely you are to find it. Some people want a doctor who will hold their hand and answer questions all day long. Other people want a doctor who isn't into chitchat and has a busy waiting room because that must mean the doctor is good. Listen carefully when other mothers tell you their liked their doctor and find out WHY they liked them. Perhaps it was because the doctor scheduled an early induction for their convenience. If that is not the route you want to go, then another doctor would suit you better. Dr. Gonzalez's two clients both had vaginal deliveries without any pain medication (that is what they wanted). In each case, the Doc attended them and entered the room with a quiet attitude of watchful waiting (waiting to catch the baby). I appreciated this aspect of her practice very much. There are lots of great doctors out there, and I happen to have good experiences with this one, so I'm giving my two cents. read more

I was referred to this doctor by a friend when I was pregnant with my first child. I didn't really have any issues with the office staff. They seemed fine enough and I never waited too long to be seen. I didn't mind that they weren't overly friendly. I was not there to make friends- just see the doctor. That's where I had my main concerns. Dr. Gonzalez was nice but aloof. Being it was my first pregnancy I was hoping for more information each visit. I definitely did not need a gab fest but I at least wanted to feel like my questions were thoroughly answered. Most questions were met with "that should be fine" or "that seems normal" .... Hmmm a little more information would have been nice. There were also a couple of times where the doctor said she would check on something and let me know next appointment but she never did. I just felt like I was another number to her and not a person with real concerns or feelings. The cherry on top of the whole situation was when it came to circumcising my son. We took him to her office a few weeks after he was born. My husband and I waited in the waiting area while the procedure was performed. She came out with our screaming son and gave us a few verbal instructions and that was it. No written instructions on how to care for it, nothing. The days after that were very traumatic for me because I did not know if we were caring for the wound properly. My husband and I were concerned that it didn't look right- you couldn't even tell it was circumcised. A few weeks later we had an appointment with our pediatrician and expressed some concerns. He basically said she did not take enough skin off and it was a half-assed circumcision. The skin was still attached. Now we either have to get the procedure re-done or rip the skin back ourselves. My son is 9 months now and it is an issue I still have concerns about! DO NOT go to Dr. Gonzalez if you are planning on circumcising because apparently she does not know what she is doing!! Needless to say I will be finding a new doctor for my next pregnancy. read more

She was open to my birthing plans and offered professional opinion when needed to help me make up my mind. Thumbs WAY down on this doctor. I went to her for prenatal care (currently X months pregnant) and after my last visit, I decided to switch doctors. After my first few visits, I thought maybe she was just having a bad day and that was why she wasn't very present and a bit cold. After the last visit, I realized that is just how she is. She rushes in and out, as if she can't be bothered and doesn't care much about you as her patient. No communication on her treatment during the visit or future visits, so you're left confused and wondering what's going on. She doesn't even ask how you're doing/feeling and if you have any questions, just rushes out. I have never been to such a rude and uncaring doctor. I would think that a doctor treating a woman throughout her pregnancy would be more empathetic, informative and communicative. I originally had recommended Dr. Gonzalez to a friend who just found out she is pregnant since the office is close by. I told her recently to cancel her appointment, don't even bother. Even though the doctor is horrible, her receptionist is very kind and warm. That is the only positive aspect of her office. I chose a natural birth with the help of a doula and i took home my placenta to be encapsulated. Dr. Gonzalez respected all of this and provided great information. I can't say enough good things about Dr, Gonzalez. She has delivered all 3 of my babies. I was lucky and never had any complications but she handed all of my apts professionally. She can get busy so some of the apts were in and out so to speak but she always answered my questions and was never pushy. And when I had to bring my 2 small children with me to an apt. She was really sweet with them. When it came time to deliver she made things very easy. She is very calm which was SO helpful because i was a nervous wreck with my first. I have sent 3 of my friends to see her and they all had babies with her too. I'm just bummed because she switched hospitals and I won't be able to see her with my 4th pregnancy :( I highly recommend her!! read more

Cared for me through my 1 St pregnancy in 2004 NOT THE BEST EXPERIENCE I HAD WHICH SHOULD'VE BEEN A MEMORABLE LOVING EXPERIENCE TURNED INTO A HEARTBREAKING EXPERIENCE maybe not her fault but I clearly heard the conversation she had with the RN that was helping me, she induced me 5-26around 9-10 am left me until following morning 5/27 around 10:10 my son was born because she induced me and left me with my water broken my son swallowed amniotic fluid and aquired pulmonary infection had to stay in NICU for 2 weeks after I delivered, I don't know who's fault was it but I heard Dr ask RN is she ready I'm not going over there if she's not ready RN said yes but no need to rush and giggled literally 3 minutes later RN was freaking out because my babies head was visible No Dr and mind you her office is across stress from hospital, 10:05 am RN is calling and paging her Still No Dr RN Told my husband to stand by my private area incase baby came out told him to catch him told me not to.push until Dr came . I was in so much pain and discomfort finnaly Dr showed up RN rushed to help her get ready for delivery she sat down and I started pushing 4 small pushes my son was out. About 30 minutes after delivery my son was rushed to NICU because he was breathing super fast struggling, the RN told me also Pediatrician my son had swallowed amniotic fluid and had an infection in his little lungs, just imagine Seeing your innocent helpless baby struggling to breath hooked up to tons of monitors, DR GONZALES WAS GREAT UP UNTIL DELIVERY DAY SHE HAS WAY TO MUCH ON HER PLATE maybe things have changed now but for me this was the worse experience of my life being cared by a Dr who showed no care after inducing me, I HAVE NOT AND WILL NOT RETURN TO DR GONZALEZ.. Okay where to start...I love this Doctor! Dr. Gonzalez delivered my two kids and I wouldn't do it any other way. Her office is very nice and clean, her front desk girl Liz is super sweet and efficient. Making appointments is easy and there never really is a long wait to get seen. Once your in with her your never rushed she takes her time answers any questions and concerns. She really listens and makes you feel comfortable. Especially if it's your first pregnancy. I love that she's the only dr in her practice so you build a relationship with her and she delivers your baby. Some practices are so big you never know who will deliver your baby. My experience with her was awesome amazing words can't describe. I have referred many friends and clients to see her because when having a baby you want nothing but the best! My first child was vaginal delivery and I swear I was exhausted but when she got there she totally centered me got me through it gave me the strength I needed. My second was a c section because my son was so big. Not the route I wanted to go but it was a must and she made me feel so at ease even though I was terrified. Now I just get to see her on my yearly visits but she will truly hold a special place in My heart. She delivered my kids and I'm forever greatful. In October 2002, Dr. Leslie Gonzalez did a vaginal hysterectomy on me and lacerated my colon 7cm and sutured my colon in two areas. The mistake was covered up by her ignoring all of the signs and symptoms that I was dying. Finally on post op day 6, the nurses went AROUND her and saved my life. I am now permanently disabled due to her error and neglect. She failed many ways to save my life. I found out during my malpractice suit with her that she had another suit against her regarding a forcep delivery. I am a nurse and I would NEVER recommend anyone allow Dr. Gonzalez to touch them. I absolutely loved Dr. Gonzalez. I felt as though she knew exactly what she was doing. She always asked if I had any questions or concerns. Her staff was friendly. I loved that i would get reminder calls for my appointments. Which came very much in handy as that "pregnancy brain" kicked in. Her office was nice. I rarely had to wait to be seen for more then 15 min. With the exception of one time when there computers went down and one time when she had to deliver a baby. She delivered my first and only child (so far) in October 2011 at Long Beach Memorial. I had a horrible birthing experience with Dr Leslie Gonzalez. She was the worst OB I've ever been to. She'd tell me what I wanted to hear and she did whatever she wanted when it was too late for me to do anything about it. She was 30 mins late to my scheduled cesarean. She botched my tummy after the delivery on my last child leaving my tummy disfigured. This was a routine planned cesarean and she didn't have the supplies to close up my cesarean properly. She stitched me internally but used medical tape on the outside when she told me she would use medical glue, like I requested multiple times. This method caused my tummy to heal wrong and I expressed this weeks prior to the delivery and she confirmed multiple times she would do that but she flat out didn't. It's awful. She also didn't handle my pain meds for home pain maintenance well, so after the delivery, at home with a newborn and a toddler was misery. I regret using her and wouldn't ever recommend her to anyone. read more

I have known Dr. Gonzalez for many years. She has always been compassionate and her staff very friendly. When my husband and I got pregnant, there was no doubt in my mind who I wanted to be under the care of for my pregnancy. All of our questions and concerns were addressed at each prenatal visit. Her staff took care of all of our needs whether in person or over the phone. My birth plan was thoroughly reviewed by Dr. Gonzalez and I knew my wishes would be respected as long as the delivery went smoothly. I was confident that I was in the right caring hands and that our baby would arrive safely. I had no fears going into my delivery because of the safe environment Dr. Gonzalez had created for our baby and I. During the course of my care we had an insurance issue arise. The doctor and her staff did everything they could to help us. In the end, it was all resolved. I have recommended Dr. Gonzalez to many friends and their experiences have been good ones. I can't imagine what the birth of our baby boy would have been like without her. Thank you Dr. Gonzalez for the loving care you provide to your patients. Now that my hormones are back to normal, I can write an honest review about Dr. Gonzales. After two successful vaginal pregnancies with her, I would recommend her. She is hip and cool headed-even when you might not be. At first, she seemed a bit dry, but after getting to know her I think it's part of her bed side manners. Dr.Gonzalez delivered my son and was great at all of the appointments before that. She's serious and straightforward which worked for me.

This doctor is the worst. I'm literally confused how this office/ Doctor have so many good reviews. I was referred here because my gyno who is super amazing (Dr. Kimber) no longer practiced OB and I needed a new doctor for my prenatal care. First time here Dr. was very short and dry didn't ask any questions or inform me anything. This was not only my first pregnancy but I was pregnant with twins. Gave her three tries because I wanted to give her the chance and thought maybe she was having a bad day or super busy. Second visit same thing she did a quick ultrasound, no information on anything on the pregnancy, no personality, oh and when I asked a question she responded with a simple "That's normal" no explanation or anything like I'm supposed to know. This is my first pregnancy lady really? Also when I complained about discharge she just automatically assumed it was a yeast infection and prescribed me something for a yeast infection . Never did a culture or even looked down there to make sure even after I told her I was prone to BV and always got them. Never in my life has a doctor just prescribed me something without being for sure of what kind of infection it is. Oh and the office staff is so incompetent! They always messed up on my paperwork for blood work and ultrasound putting down it was a single pregnancy when in fact I had twins! Even the people at ultrasound and lab informed me how important is it they had the correct information. Wasted my time by even giving them a second chance in the first place. I found a new and amazing OB/gyn with such an amazing staff all around. Oh and when asked to send records to my new doctors the staff reassured me they would after I called about three different times but my new doctor never received a thing. I had to retake all the labs so annoying. read more
