We've been looking for a place like this in our own city and haven't been successful in 5 years and Boswell Brasserie hit all the marks: cozy, lovely inside, not loud/crowded, excellent food and beer. Our server was so kind even though we do not speak French (sorry!) and we had an incredible evening. Low lighting with holiday lights made it so festive and warm when it was FREEZING outside. Street parking nearby is fairly easy to come by in the evenings. Prices are reasonable for high quality food and beer.

Sat our giant party at the middle of the restaurant without feeling cramped. Beer list keeps at a standard $6.50 price point, but you get a different pour depending on style. First tried the "Milkshake IPA" (12 oz) - a silky smooth dark beer, with not too much hop for an IPA. Also had the "Altbier" (crisp lingering ale), and the "Grisette" (moderate saison). For food, had the off-menu Poutine - a basic layering of fries, gravy and curds. The cheese curds were large but chewy and the fries could have been warmer. Service is definitely attentive as we were the largest group in the brewpub. Good place to have a drink at the bar if stopping by.

The place itself is a charming old-timey saloon type place. Location is in the heart of Mile End. Only small complaint was it took a long time to clear the table... they brought the bills before this was done. Not a huge deal. Would go back with people who have big appetites. Edited to add: there was a live musician (on a Saturday morning!) who played some lively guitar that set a calm mood. He is not paid by the establishment so throw him a few dollars if you enjoy it.

You will love this place whether you're just stopping for a few drinks before a show or planning to spend your whole evening. The ambiance is relaxed and casual. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes - both classical and contemporary. We got some Tatziki to start and it was delicious, followed by a pitcher of red sangria, which was potent but delighful at the same time. My burger was really good and my friend's pasta was done perfectly al dente. We sat out on the terrace and it was great to see people walk by. The service was top notch as well. A great place for a good meal in the Village.

The wait staff at Saloon Bistro Bar are perfectly fluent in French and English. Very friendly to international visitors such as us. Their cocktail specials for "happy hour" are amazing. I preferred the gravy that was at another place we visited earlier in the week, but she preferred the flavor here. I didn't think much of it, there were only 2 or 3 tables seated in the whole bar. I spent the rest of my time sitting watching the staff chat together behind the bar until I gave up and left. Would have loved to have noted Pub Victoria as a new go-to but unfortunately I don't think I will be going back.

Thankfully the food is delicious: the eggs benedict are perfect with the salmon gravlax, the meat sandwich is humongous, but trailing behind are the avocado toast (good, but just that), and the cheeseburger, because it has Kraft cheese in it and NO. The place is beautiful, and if you come for brunch you might just be seated in the atrium/terrasse while they play some 80s grooves. Yay!

First time trying public Karaoke! This place has a DJ (if…read moreyou want to call him that) and so you just tell him the song you want to sing and he puts it on the list. You present yourself to the mic when it starts. It's cheaper than a private room and if you get there early enough, you have it all to yourself so it's almost like a private room. The karaoke is on the second floor and it's quite spacious and comes with lots of 5$ deals (all entrees and basic calamari, as well as a 5$ gin and tonic loaded with gin so definitely worth the price). They open the second floor at 8pm and the guy comes in at 8:30pm to start playing songs. Once more people show up, it does drag on a bit because there are more songs to go through before it's your turn. Also, if you're shy there's a bigger audience. Loved my time here so much! They had great deals, the food was delicious (much better than you'd expect, I ordered the fried chicken and pogo's), and the service was fast. I'd go back with friends in a heartbeat! AMAZING LAGER & SAISON BEER! DELIGHTFUL PATIO! AWESOME FOOD TOO!…read more We first visited this brewpub in the summer during our week long Québec trip. Then, I went back again during my recent 24-hour stopover in Montreal. I guess it's fair to say I really like this place - definitely a solid 4.5 stars! Unlike other breweries that focus more on strong IPAs or use some very unique and creative ingredients, Isle de Garde's beers are more down-to-earth. They emphasize on simplicity, and yet they're amazing in what they do! Grisette is my personal favorite - super crisp and refreshing with hints of citrusy. I also tried a few other "simplistic beers" (lager, kolsch, pilsner, etc) and they're very impressive too! Just for fun, I tried their stout for a change - it's low on alcohol content (under 4%) but it's EXTREMELY creamy. What a pleasant surprise to finish my beer tasting experience! Their food offering is definitely NOT the typical "pub food", and overall quality is excellent! I tried a few dishes during my two visits - beef tartar, grilled octopus, veal tongue, etc. The reason for deducting one star is due to a minor inconsistency in their food quality (i.e. first visit was awesome, and second visit was great). Nerveless, my second visit was on Dec 27, so I believe the minor quality degradation was just a one-off situation as staff level was probably lower everywhere. They have a HUGE patio along the street which makes them an awesome place to hang out on a sunny summer day! The staff also told me they have resumed producing beer in cans in late 2022, so as you'd imagine, I've stocked up (especially their Grisette) before heading back to my home town. I'll definitely visit this place again when I'm in Montreal in the future!

It was quite busy (and many people had reserved tables in the main space, to we were told to sit in the little patio in the back. I was originally worried about the cold, but the patio was so well heated, I was even able to take off my coat for a little bit. Their rhum menu is insane, and both me and my brother for delicious rhum cocktails, although I'm honestly having trouble remembering exactly which ones. We both ordered tacos (one of the only items on their surprisingly limited menu for a Tapas place). I got the fish tacos and my brother got the chicken ones. Not the best tacos in the world but definitely serviceable. We both decided that although both good, the chicken was better. We also got the churros for dessert which were fine, but weirdly underdone in the middle, I didn't know if it was purposeful. The service was a bit slow, I sometimes wondered if the server had forgotten about us since we were in the back patio, but our server was so sweet it really made up for it. Would definitely come back, especially for $1 oyster night !
