SCAMMERS! DO NOT EAT HERE!
After spending four summers in Cotignac and eating at Les Trois Marches every time, we also did this summer. After we got the paycheck we decided to pay in cash leaving 85 euros in total for the bill of 76,95 euros. Paying with 4x20 euros and 2 euros. The waiter took the money and thanked us after which we stood up and walked away. This all took a couple of minutes.
After we had passed the terrace of the restaurant the waiter came running after us saying we paid 40 euros too less. Since we counted the money three times and knew exactly how much cash we had on us before we ate there, we were 100% sure we left enough money. We headed back to the restaurant to check whether the waiter had maybe dropped it when walking into the restaurant. After nobody seemed able to find it, the owner came to us and simply shrugged his shoulders saying he had no other 20 euro bills in the cash desk. If this would be a trustworthy restaurant you would expect an owner to be shocked that something like this happens in his restaurant and trying to get to the bottom of what happened. 40 euros is a lot of money, too much to just shrug your shoulders over. The waiter as well as the owner have a lot of guts to just lie in people's faces like that and treat tourists like this.
End result we were obliged to pay 40 more euros and left feeling very scammed and upset. We've spent our summers in Cotignac for 4 years now and would've never expected something like this to happen here. So please save your money and go to one of the other restaurants with honest people, better service and tastier food. read more
