A bizarre walk down an alley from the exorcist, you open the front door and step back 50 years in time!! There are amber glass chain lights that many will recognize( perhaps from granny's!), a long bar against one wall, chairs on opposite. They had about 15-20 micro beers on tap! Coolers stoked with imports!!! The only thing missing was galiano so I could have a Harvey Wallbanger!!! There is a smoking section out the back door with picnic tables, Chinese lanterns and enough kitchy charm that is part bait shack, part mardi gras!!! This place looks like it should be on a historic register! The bartender was friendly and gave us many samples of draughts that we weren't familiar with until we found the perfet one. They range from darker than guiness to the palest ale.....a selection that has something for everyone. Stop by this dive, have a cocktail and think of the good old days!!! read more

Leroy is an overflow for the very good and very small El Rey restaurant. Thanks to these two places (also: + Pine Bar + Filet & Vine + Fairview Homebrew) Montgomery is able to have a strong craft beer culture. Leroy's feels like a real bar which is a nice change for the city. This means TVs only when needed, a long bar with brass runners, and an old-school rotary dial phone on the wall. The beer choices always change and are always fresh. The beers don't taste like dirty lines and they serve the beers in the correct type of glass. The bartenders know their beers and will let you take a taste if requested. Keep it up Leroy! read more

I'd heard much about this great little nook in my neighborhood, but wasn't sure what to make of it until I could experience for myself. this, THIS is a fantastic place to be on a Saturday night. I think by virtue of its location, it remains "hidden" and thankfully, fairly free of overpacked, over-drunk, and obnoxious patrons. my wife and I grabbed a couple of seats outside, chose from their great selection of on-tap brews, and whittled away two hours on our anniversary. best. decision. ever. thankful to have a spot like this so close to home. read more

I have to say I love this bar. Its different from the main types of bars you find in Montgomery and helps me forget I'm in the ABC plagued Southeast. About 20 or so constantly rotating taps and an excellent bottle selection including bombers. You won't find your typical American piss beers here. All craft and or imports on tap. Someone else said this was an all beer offshoot but this is incorrect. They have a full bar with cocktails and 42 whiskey and Scotches. The staff are all great and pretty knowledgeable about the beer being served. Crowd varies from business crowd to everyday beer lover so don't feel like you have to dress to impress. read more

One of Montgomery's newest bars, Leroy's self-consciously cultivates a "neighborhood dive" atmosphere - and pulls it off. The place has a lot of personality given the low lighting and old-timey furnishings. The beer selection is quite impressive and the bartenders are always happy to advise the uncertain and the hesitant on which beer best matches their cravings. The small patio out back offers a cozy sanctuary for smokers, though I wish the fence separating it from the alleyway outside didn't look like chicken wire so much. The best bar in Alabama. I LOVE this place. INCREDIBLE, extensive cocktail menu. Highly recommend the Redhead and the Black Lavrodor (not sure how to spell it). It's roaring 20's, speakeasy feel is perfect against the backdrop of the Old Cloverdale neighborhood in Montgomery, where Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald lived. I was in Montgomery for a wedding and my girlfriend is from the area. I love local beers and being able to try as many as possible. Upon arriving in Montgomery, I found the local Publix was lacking on local beer selection and I began to wonder, does Alabama have any good breweries or any breweries for that matter?! When I got to Leroy's, I was happy to find that the establishment had a large selection of Alabama and Georgia beers at a reasonable craft beer price. The girlfriend and her cousin had a couple craft cocktails as well and they tasted fantastic. Montgomery seems to have a very small beer/craft cocktail scene, but this is ground-zero and a nice start for their drinking community. read more

As far as bars go, this is one of the best in Montgomery. It has a cool trendy theme, with an ample beer collection -a great beer collection actually, with interesting choices. They also offer an interesting mixed drink menu. There's an outdoor area for smokers or a little fresh air, and it's located conveniently in Old Cloverdale area. I went ahead and gave it a 5 for being the coolest bar in Montgomery, even though it might not hold up to larger cities with more options. read more

Let me start by saying that this is was our favorite bar in Montgomrey. We go here infrequently because of kids, schedules, etc. We went tonight after a work Christmas party and our wife's were "carded" and asked to leave. They didn't have ID but were definitely "of age". Sorry but our party of 10 left because of the rudeness of the proprietor. We wont be back. Went to The Gin in east Montgomrey, but that is probably what they wanted. read more

Leroy's beer selection is versatile, and the ambiance is chill, but if you are looking to meet new people this is not the place to go. We were under the impression that this place had food, but don't be fooled people...they don't. I'm not sure how we could mistake the "bars" category for "restaurant," but we did and I'm not surprised because we were super hungry when we were Yelping for local places to get our grub on! Either way...Leroy's is a magical place and a must-go if you're in the area. The beer selection totally blew my mind and the atmosphere was way cool. We ended up drinking our way through our hunger pains; I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you go to Leroy's. The service was fantastic; a very warm and welcoming place to get your drink on. I looked over their cocktail menu too - IMPRESSIVE! I didn't have time to try one, but I will for sure be back. You can even order growlers and drinks to go in plastic cups! Like what?! Yeah. This is a little slice of Brooklyn in Montgomery. It's a well designed and comfortable space with creative craft cocktails an excellent beer selection and a relaxed vibe. The bartender was friendly and thought with recommendations. It's located in Cloverdale, a neighborhood that reminds me of a smaller version of the Virginia Highlands or Little Five Points in ATL. Although it was predominantly hipster, there were a mix of people and no one would feel out of place. It's walking distance from a number of other places, including an indie theater.
