    Sugo Pasta - Amazing!!

I saw Sugo first recommended on a Scotland travel FB group and mentally catalogued it for our days…read morein Glasgow...the last day of our trip we were at a bar having a few drinks and snacks and both the guy next to us and the bartender strongly suggested it, without knowing it was on my radar - confirming our need to go, and I'm so so glad we did! We put our name on the list and didn't even have time for me to order a glass of wine from the bar before we were called. The place is larger than I expected, and loud, with its high ceilings and has an industrial feel. Its like a pasta nightclub haha! We ordered the panzanella as a starter on the strong recommendation of our fellow bar patron, the spinach and ricotta ravioli and the beef ragu. The flavors in the panzanella were SO rich, ingredients so so fresh and it was absolutely delicious. The ragu was generous sized and great as well - but the real star of the show was the ravioli. Literally the best pasta dish I've had in my life. It was so buttery and flavorful, we both agreed it was phenomenal. From sitting down to checking out it was very fast as well. I hope to have the chance to get back here some day!

This place was an amazing find! Very simple menu but done to perfection! The place was super busy…read morebut we have a table for 4 within 5 minutes. The waitstaff was exceptional. Checking in at a very comfortable interval. We never felt rushed or forgotten. A must try when in Glasgow.

Absolutely lovely dinner experience…read more I went a few years ago and again today. Dinner - You definitely need to make reservations. Today I was at a hotel in walking distance and got a reservation impromptu for lunch and walked right over. The decor is a little old but probably intentional. The carpet in the chairs are all various tartan patterns, with the gentleman and lady staff in tarta suits or kilts. All the staff were very friendly and professional, working as a team to provide the courses and refills. The menu has a selection of five or so each of appetizers, main dishes, desserts and sides. Since it was a weekday lunch, I took advantage of the three-course special for around 39 UK pounds. My three courses are attached, the first being a delicious duck confit over black pudding with microgreens and Curry. Next up was a delicious sea bream (server advised me it was similar to sea bass) over put a nut squash with toasted coconut slivers. Last but not least, was a wonderful apple berry crumble with ludicrously creamy vanilla ice cream. Honestly, I should not have ordered all of this but it was a wonderful meal. Everything is prepared to order and meant to be an experience so do not come here if you're looking for a quick bite before going out on the town. All in all a consistently wonderful place

Another fantastic Glasgow restaurant that I should have reviewed ages ago but forgot. We'd visited…read morethem in their former incarnation at 88 Dumbarton Road in Partick (which is where the name comes from), but now they are located in what appears to be a remote end-of-road area in Anderston with not much else around. However, do not be deceived, this is situated just across the motorway from the Marriot hotel at the edge of the city centre, and judging from the packed crowd on our visit, they get a lot of custom from there. I think the venue is an old pub; it certainly has that sort of vibe to it, but it's quirky and works really well as an eatery now. If I'd written this review earlier I'd have remembered what we had, but it was a couple of months ago now. All I can tell you is that everything was fantastic. Great food, good wine choice, considerate service. I'm going to have to go back soon to write a proper review!
