It's always a treat coming into LCRC. The owner is incredibly kind and makes great conversation with all of his guests. You can tell each guest is as important as the one before. They have a wider variety of options than any coffee shop in the area. You'll find coffee and espresso in hot, cold, and blended (frozen) options, soda cocktails (my son recommends the root beer + marshmallow + cream "Happy Camper"), and more! Zach Leonard started roasting coffee beans in his garage (I believe) and soon word got out that his beans were so good --demand helped him open up this shop in Johnstown. Its easy to find, lots of street/public parking near by. A black awning that hangs outside his shop has LCRC on one corner and "coffee and roastery" on the other... but oh, so much more is inside... Once you push through the door you are welcomed with the smell of fresh coffee, a sincere smile and a friendly hello from this roaster. The inside has the buildings original planked floors. There is a vast amount of seating from the front to the back. Along the walls he features painting by local artists which also can be purchased at his shop. There is a swag station where you can buy his beans and also purchase locally made products like candles, etc. The coffee... one of my favorites. It just so well balanced and not bitter. His prices! Omg, probably the best of all the coffee shops Ive been too. He has plenty of baked goods that pair wonderfully with his coffees. The only thing I could wish for there is... scones. Lots of muffins, cookies, pastries, but no scones. Oh well... its hard to be perfect... and even without the scones, he pretty much is nailing the coffee roasting experience, imo. First impression is impressive. Cozy welcoming space. Nice variety of coffee offerings and light breakfast treats. Also advertising breakfast burritos along with a lunch sandwich of ham & cheese. Opted for an Americano today paired with a cookie baked by Cocco's Cookies. The cookie was perfectly soft with tons of sprinkles taking me back to my youth. We love this place! The owner, Zach, is so welcoming and treats you like an old friend paying a visit. The coffee is the best around and worth the wait if there is a line. I especially enjoy the frozen coffee...so smooth and creamy! Lots of seating and tables. The space lends itself well to sip and craft/paint events. Would be nice if there were some soft/comfy chairs or maybe a set-up for live music. Would also like to see different sizes offered, as well. read more

Thanks for opening in Johnstown! Although we have another coffee shop in town, and I love that one too, it's great to have another option right on Main St., walkable with the other businesses, but also close to ample parking on a typical day (street or across the street public lot). This guy really cares about the craft of roasting coffee and it's very clear. When they first opened early this year, options were a bit more limited, but it seems anyone who's coming into a coffee shop will find what they're looking for here now. Hot coffee, iced drinks, muffins, bagels, etc. The price is right and the atmosphere is just right as well. You can't help but want to support the owner. He's always here, always friendly with the customers, willing to chat, learning about the local community, and he's open every day except Tuesday, beginning early and open later in the day than I'd expect. I know his eventual plan is to have evening events, not sure what, but I can imagine things like coffee shops in other local communities are doing. I stopped in today on a road trip and tried a hot mocha. It was delicious- not too sweet and the coffee beans are freshly roasted on site. The owner was very outgoing, welcoming, and polite. This coffee shop has a laid-back friendly vibe with plenty of open seating, tasteful art on the walls, fresh flowers at the register, locally made candles and other gift items are also available. I loved the hardwood floors and the overall ambience of the shop. I'll definitely stop again on my way through town. read more

This is what they mean when they say "hidden gem"! We make it a habit to try local coffee shops when we are traveling, and this exceeded all expectations. The decor may be simplistic, but the drinks and breakfast sandwiches most certainly are not! We had a delicious iced latte with the perfect ratio of coffee to flavor to milk, and a hot americano that was also expertly prepared. There is nothing worse than a coffee with zero sweetness, except in fact for a coffee that tastes like they forgot the espresso! This place nailed the flavor profile expertly. The breakfast sandwiches to go also were far better than anticipated. While the egg is likely pre-cooked, the (homemade?) sourdough bread and panini press more than made up for it. We wanted to try a new spot for our second morning in town, but this one will be hard to beat! Not to mention that the staff were extremely polite and friendly, and the prices were fair. Here's my advice: Make seating comfy like in a capital one. They have great seating. People want to be comfortable to do work or have meetings. Consider lower prices.
