I know that's not a ringing endorsement and it wasn't meant to be. It's in a pretty cool Plaza though. And this location is clearly better than the one in Williamsville which didn't do a good job with my hair at all. These people did. Or at least it was OK. OK enough for an OK three star rating. But not cheap enough for the standard I got. The only reason I bump up to 4 is because the last 2 people that cut my hair here (I can't remember my visits from over a decade ago but I remember those 2) were extremely friendly and one of them I still talk to. read more

She takes her time with my hair, it never feels rushed to me (even when she's juggling multiple customers), and I've been complimented on the result countless times. When I'm interested in experimenting with something new, I can show her a new hairstyle and she runs with it. Despite her professional demeanor, she's also super friendly and when she talks to me I feel as if she's genuinely interested in what's going on with my life and is not just 'going through the motions'. Fantastic! I called today at about 1200 pm to see if they had any openings today, and they were able to take me at 145pm. Lisa took my Color Oops damaged/chopped up hair and turned it into something amazing. I thought there was no way of fixing it! She evened out the layers and was able to bring back my natural dirty blonde color with some light blonde ombré. I was there almost 2.5-3 hours, since the process was so intense, and I definitely didn't feel rushed at all. I'm so so happy with the results and I feel like a new person! I went here on recommendation of a friend who always has gorgeous hair. I have waist-length hair and have always been very careful with it, and it's only been touched once with a balayage last year. I went to Chris and he got me to my absolute dream medium blonde. He was so fun to talk to, so calming, and communicated excellently. If I could give zero stars I would! I went to the salon based on a good friend's recommendation. I saw Josh and provided him pictures and even a video of the hair cut and style I wanted. He assured me he could do it and not to worry. Which I was, because I was having brain surgery in a few days and wanted a specific pixie cut with an under cut. Again I provided Josh a video! Well as he was going on with the cut I started to get a bit nervous and asked "the top is going to be longer right?" I noticed he was cutting way more off the top. Josh said "don't worry it will look great." Well when he was done I wanted to burst into tears! It looked absolutely nothing like the pics or video! He did not style my hair did not use hardly any products in my hair nor flat iron my hair. He just said "Ok done" He had to know by my expression I was upset. He said "It's just gonna take time to get used to it." The cut literally looked like a bowl cut! I just wanted to get out of there! It was so bad that night I had to go to another salon to have someone else try to fix the disaster. Which there wasn't much they could do but clean it up a bit. So now I have to let my hair grow out to even try to fix the awful bowl cut! If you have a stylist who says they can achieve a specific style then deliver said style!! I have a hard time trusting hair salons. Having moved from Rochester, I decided that I can no longer take the hour drive there just to visit my stylist. So I dumped her and started the search to find a great Buffalo salon. A friend told me to try Leon Salon and now that's the only place I will go. I have never left upset. They always nail the color I want...I was going blonde for a long time and then randomly changed to brunette and they never disappoint. The prices are very fair (actually I would probably pay more for the service but don't tell the studio that...) I love the way they take "day-of" appointments, becuase I usually wake up in the morning and decide "today I'm going to get my hair cut/colored." Also, it doesn't take a long time for waiting, I'm usually in and out. I recommend this salon to anyone looking for a new place. I've always had a great experience! read more

I can be very particular of who cuts my hair, especially because "asian" hair texture can be a little different. I came here on a recommendation from my friend, Kushol H., after she had some red tips done on her dark brown hair a year ago and it looked so great on her! My go-to stylist here is Dee, and she is phenomenal. I have gotten my hair cut, dyed and highlighted here numerous times, and my hair turns out exactly how I wanted it too, if not better. I have brought in pictures to show Dee, and she will be frank on what is feasible and will keep my hair healthy, too, and I have gotten so many compliments on my hair after my last ombre/balayage. Also the color never washed out or turned orange like how it can to other ombres (and I was very grateful for that, too, haha). I have always asked for Dee, and although I have not had my hair cut by any of the other stylists, they are all amazing and so fun to be around. They also give superb head massages when they're washing your hair so it really gives you that relaxing spa experience! Everyone is professional and sociable, and they offer you tea or coffee and magazines. Only setback is that they take appointments only, and they can only be made the day of so call first thing before they open (check their website). It's totally worth it though! Oh, and they do student discounts, too. If you're not a student, the prices are still within a budgeter's range, in comparison to other high end salons, but you're getting great quality and amazing service. read more

I'm dedicated to my stylist, but occasionally we have to part ways (ex: she has a baby, goes on vacation, etc.) In those times when I need a substitute, I always go to this location. The staff is super friendly and attentive to your needs. I have naturally curly hair and it's important that the person cutting my hair understands what that means. I've never left Leon's with anything but a smile on my face followed by days of compliments from friends, family, and even strangers. They do hair and they do it well! I've came here for a haircut before for $20. It was decent. They did exactly what I asked for. I'm mainly writing this review for the highlights I've done on my hair. I love it! I don't remember her name but she had blonde hair and black rimmed glasses. I love that she took her time to help me make a decision. She wasn't pushing me towards the more expensive services, but instead suggested me to do less because it can damage my hair quite a bit. I appreciated that since I told her I was upset my hair is so short and I wanted to grow it out. She also explained all the pricing before she started. The salons I've been to never discussed that with me. I always ended up paying for services I never asked for. All in all, I like the place and will keep going back. If Yelp allowed half stars, i would rate Leon 3.5 stars. After reading all the wonderful reviews from Leon, I called to make an appointment and was booked on the same day. Unfortunately I never seem to have GREAT experiences with salons. Christopher helped wash and cut my hair (I would style but it was basically a blow dry..) The session was the fastest hair session I ever experienced. Washing my hair was around less than a song length (music was playing), but it didn't feel like a clean wash, just smothered my head with shampoo and conditioner. As with any other female, our hair is very precious to us. I wanted to get rid of split ends and fix up my layers. Christopher (though he was very nice) spent less than 15 minutes on my hair (total including 'styling'). He didn't section my hair to cut my layers, but just took combed sections and layered my hair. Came out with the same exact hairstyle, just a barely noticeable shorter. If youre on a budget, they have a student discount for $20. read more

Really nice service, I got a student cut for $20 which included a wash, cut, and style afterward. I have really thick hair and I wanted to really thin it out for the summer and the girl did an ok job of the that. She really didn't want to take off more even though I think more would have been better, that's why 4 stars and not 5. I always come to Leon's to get my hair done. But the past few times I made an appointment I felt like the stylist was rushing to cut and dry my hair and i didn't have that I feel like a million bucks feeling. Yesterday I walked in and a stylist named Cheryl did my hair and it looks and feels amazing! She took her time. I got around 3 inches off which was her suggestion to take off my dead ends and I really needed it. I love my long hair and am usually hesitant to have that much cut off but I went for it. I also got a moisturizing treatment on my hair. The prices are great and she gave me a nice blowout at the end. Will definitely be coming back to her. I have been going here since I was 15 years old, when Michael and Leon did hair, and am now in my mid 30's. I have seen this place grow and maintain their reputation however I went in today and was treated with so much disrespect I had to walk out before she even started. I showed her three different pictures and each one she said, "That is what your hair looks like already." She kept saying I dont know what you mean over and over. Asked for a simple two-inch trim and they charged me for a haircut, which was a steep $40 (without the hair wash). Additionally, after the stylist had trimmed my hair, she said she wanted to "soften the ends so the ends wouldn't look so blunt," but she really meant "I'm going to thin the crap out of your hair." Now my hair is no longer thick and full, it is flat and lifeless. Worst experience ever. Will not be coming back. read more

I looked on Yelp and google maps for a salan near the airport and this one got good reviews, so I set up a same day appointment. Nicole was my stylus, listed to what I wanted, cut my hair as requested, confirmed that it was what I wanted, and they even gave discounted prices for college students. I mentioned that I'm usually too lazy to style my hair and Nicole made sure to give me a cut that would look good right out of the shower. If I lived here, I'd go all the time. The prices are inexpensive for students (under $20), but moderate for others (under $40). They were also very personable and even gave me some recommendations for dinner. read more

They were very rushed and hard on my scalp and i don't have a sensitive head. I thought they were friendly but she did the fastest and easiest thing I was asking for and the highlights have spots and blotches all over my head. They said they did highlights without foil (balayage) when I made the appointment but when I got there they said they only use foil. If I could give a zero, I would, because that might be the only fair review as I never even made it past the front desk. I couldn't get in with my regular hairdresser this morning and I absolutely needed my hair cut as I'm having new headshots done within the month. I walked in at approx. 11:40. The guy at the desk asked what I needed done and I said just a cut. He politely told me that they couldn't possibly fit me in until at least 2:30. I glanced over at the two stylists sitting in the salon chairs chatting. I looked at him again. "Really?" "Sorry," was his response. Even if both girls had clients scheduled for noon, one of them should have utilized that twenty minutes to give me a cut.The best part was the girl who came and sat in the window as I was pulling out; LOVED the death stare she gave me through the glass. Very professional. I ended up at *bangs* on the Boulevard and I kid you not was in and out in half an hour with a wash and a cute cut from a friendly and very professional stylist.
