When you need lighting (as a homeowner) I don't think I have ever been to a better location than…read moreValley lighting. My wife got a recommendation to VL from a coworker. Now I recommend VL to all of you. We have been shopping for lighting as we update the outside of our 1970's CT colonial and our kitchen. Countless websites with thousands of pictures led to some frustration and we decided to go visit some lighting stores. Some stores may be highly recommended but are really for designers, they are by appointment only, have a very limited supply for a showroom, but offer a really big screen so you can browse their website (ugh!) Others have a bigger supply in the showroom and have nice people who understand lighting. Then there is Valley Lighting! They had a huge selection to look at (and touch) a friendly staff who really knew their inventory, availability and options and were also full of ideas that made us open up the options we were considering. We worked with Zac and he was really great as we waffled on every aspect from design, color, and size. We settled on a design for the outdoor lights in about 20 minutes, after searching for the last several weeks. We purchased 2 Large, 2 Medium, and 2 Small lights to mount on the exterior as well as 3 post lights for the driveway. They also had a huge selection of lightbulbs and guided us through witch wattage and color would work best for our application. This seems elementary that a lighting store would do this, but I haven't seen it elsewhere. We were able to bring home two lights which I mounted (pictured) and the rest were ordered and we expect them in 2 weeks. Now that we accomplished this project it is time to finalize the kitchen lights and for that we will certainly return to VL.

We had a good experience here yesterday. They have a nice…read moreselection of lighting but it's not too overwhelming. We had no problem getting help and had most of our questions answered quickly. It's more expensive than the box box home improvement places but it's higher quality lighting so you get what you pay for. There are surprisingly few larger lighting places around here and this one is worth a look.

Spyder Electric passed my expectations with flying colors: ON TIME, No diddle-daddling, STRICTLY FOCUSED ON THE JOB AT HAND, ABSOLUTELY PROFESSIONAL, KNOWS HIS BUSINESS INSIDE-OUT and SUPERB PRICES. Electrical service done wrong can be a financial disaster or even worse, a safety issue. And I wouldn't risk my "FAMILY" in a home wired by the wrong people. I call things as they are and rate businesses appropriately. So i'll simplify this review - Spyder Electric always does an "A+ job" for me.

He even tackled a couple of smaller things we wanted him to look at and did so with a smile. We will DEFINITELY be contacting Spyder Electric again for any electrical work that needs to be done at our properties. Thank you!

On Monday, I submitted a project request on Yelp for a residential electrician to convert a normal…read morereceptacle to a dedicated 20amp receptacle for a sauna that has yet to arrive. A few companies responded. One company was booked until September while another company declined. A third company was able to show up the same day to measure and provide an estimate. MacVane Electrical was the fourth company to reply but was the quickest to provide an estimate after I texted pictures of the circuit boxes as well as an approximate distance. I was hesitant due to lack of online reviews. Phil (Sr.) quickly responded in the same evening with an estimate as well as a commitment to show up the next day to do the work. Phil (Jr) arrived the next day (Tuesday) as promised along with Ray, and both got the work done in about 2 hours. Both are super nice guys. Turns out Phil and his father started the company just 6 months ago, hence there are few to no reviews online. They are friendly, clean, and thoroughly explained the work that needed to be done. Phil Jr was so thorough that after he finished and left, he called the sauna company to verify the type of plug the sauna required. He then came back an hour or so later to replace the receptacle to the correct type. I highly recommend MacVane Electrical Services for your residential needs and will be using Phil and his company in the future.

And even though it wasn't originally scheduled, they also ended up doing some other electrical upgrades at our request, which included installing several outlets, some rewiring, some updating, and gave us the option of using existing wires, openings or equipment, or using new. The fact that most of that stuff was added on onsite, and we were able to get a speedy and fair quote and approval was fantastic. The whole team is incredibly respectful, friendly, hardworking, and trustworthy and reliable. Communication was handled in the ways we felt most comfortable, and we never felt like anyone was overstepping or leaving us "in the dark". The work done was absolutely neat, organized, intuitive, and looks better than most of the existing work. They also cleaned every work area they were in, and went above and beyond to accommodate our layout, family, pets, and hectic schedules with other contractors and workers who came and went during their workdays here. They even came out after our "big one" snow storms and quickly and neatly shoveled the pathways from the driveway to the back and side of the house so they could do their work without interrupting us.
