Dr Rosenbaum recently removed a plate and screws that had been implanted in my ankle after I broke…read moremy fibula last year. The plate and screws had become quite painful and were causing significant irritation. Dr. Rosenbaum explained the procedure to me ahead of time and, due to the extent of the surgery, it was thought that I would be unable to walk on that leg for at least 2 weeks. When I had the plate and screws implanted a year ago (by a different surgeon) I was unable to walk on it for 6 weeks which, for me, was torture so I was not looking forward to being out of commission again even if the duration would be 1/3 of the time of the prior surgery. I showed up at the surgery center where everyone I encountered was extremely friendly. The surgery began ( I was given general anesthesia so I was asleep). I awoke to find that Dr. Rosenbaum had used a different technique than originally planned and the surgery was actually less invasive than planned. Thanks to the skill of Dr. Rosenbaum, and his willingness to alter the plan, the incisions were smaller that the one larger one I had expected an, because of that, I was able to walk on my leg the next day! I highly recommend Dr. Rosenbaum not only for his obvious skills but also for his flexibility in doing what is best for the patient. Hopefully you will never need foot/ankle surgery but if you do Dr. Rosenbaum is the doctor to see! Following is a note on his specialty: Dr. Andrew Rosenbaum is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle specialist. He is a graduate of Rutgers - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Camden, NJ and completed his residency at Albany Medical College. Dr. Rosenbaum completed his fellowship training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY, where he treated both the New York Mets and the New York Giants teams. He is also the Director of Orthopaedic Research at Albany Medical College. He has presented his research both nationally and internationally.
